9-10-13 Radio Ga Ga

Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

9-10-13 Radio Ga Ga

Well, the existential questions haven't gone over well with the QotD audience... how about this one?

QotD: What is your favorite Queen song?

Here's a little video to help you make your choice:
"I'd like to see 1984 redubbed with this in the soundtrack."- Furrypedro.

QotD: That's easy. Bohemian Rhapsody!
I know it's just grabbing the big hit, but I don't care. It's still by far one of the greatest rock ballads of all time in my opinion. ;)

Yeah, that's great. I also really like Killer Queen.
At a work function I might play keyboards on a cover of Crazy Little Thing Called Love, which has an excellent retro sound. But actually I don't know if there even are any keyboards in it.

Bohemian Rhapsody, no question. I got that 45 when it came out and played it soooo many times over and over. That song is one one of my biggest musical influences.

I also really love: Don't Try Suicide, Long Away

great songwriting for that band! Amazing vocals! phenomenal guitar playing. Adequate Bass. Not very interesting drumming IMHO. Imagine if he got the job in Genesis!

Then you also heard Roger Taylors writing, "I'm in love with my car" a lot. Another fav of mine. But it was a b-side for Bohemian Rhapsody so it got eclipsed. Car enthusiasts will always chuckle at the verse "Told my girl I'll have to forget her. Rather buy me a new carburetor. So she made tracks sayin' this is the end now. Cars don't talk back, they're just four wheeled friends now". *ha, rhymed now and now. Fucking drummers, lol*

....or the now famous, "I have a feel for my automobile". :D

Did you know Freddie was Indian?
Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddie_Mercury

THat blew me away when I learnt it.

But of course, he looks obviously Indian.

It is just that - the only sub-continental people that I have regular contact with either:
- serve me beef vindaloo
- play cricket, and bowl wiley leg-spin like Anil Kumble, or are batting demi-gods like Tandulkar, or
- are fellow engineers like me, who are nice, but generally non-extraordiary chaps who carry calculators around in their top pockets.

Sure - I realise this post is completely racist - but I just don't think of Indians as looking like this:

By the way:
Anil Kumble

...snerk

That name always cracks me up.

BTWBTW: I was never a big Queen fan. But as years go by - I totally realise why people were.

Bohemian Rhapsody is pretty damn awesome.

Oh...and in the documentary I saw that gave Fredie's history and explained his childhood and etc... (can't remember what it was called - but it was a cracking show) - it also revealed that they had record company parties where they had naked dwarves with bowls of cocaine strapped to their heads wandering around, and another dwarf (little person?) who was actually interviewed on the show that said his job at a party was to lie on the buffet table covered in slices of ham, and wriggle whenever someone took some ham.

I regularly suggest both of these initiatives for my own employers Christmas Parties. So far - I continue to be ignored.

Genesis would have been slightly more boring then they already were?
But they would not have had Phil Collins - so they would have been slightly less annoying.

That is not a very good counter factual.
How about - Imagine if Freddie Mercury and Hitler changed places?

Queen would have probably sold less records, but the Third Reich would have been totally fabulous!

Imagine if Hitler and Billy's Little Trip traded places.

Billy and the Psychotics would have a bit more intensity - and for a few weeks in September 1939, the Poles would have had the cleanest swimming pools in Europe.

...and he would have been called Billy's Upper Lip, in honor of his stylish mustache.
