I only released two full songs in demo form, "Come Out" and "You're Never Around." Of the two, "Come Out" is far better.

I also did a cute jingle for a friend of mine.

I will soon finish an EP with my most recent music, although if you find me on ccMixter you can already hear (and remix) 6 of the 7 songs. (#7 is just a dumb novelty tune that I think I posted the rough scratch version of on here at some point.)

Oh, I thought you meant songs that we personally released, not songs that were released in general. Grammar is hard.

Well, last year, Cher released a new album called Closer to the Truth, and every song on it is just great. But season 14 of Song Fight (that is, the entire list of fights that were due in 2013) had some great songs; Jim of Seattle did Starting a Witch Hunt, Dodged a Bullet, and Commitment and Sacrifice; all three are good. Jim also made an album that contains new songs as well as rerecorded versions of Song Fight songs he did many seasons ago, like ABCD Puppies from 2004 (season 5). Paul McCartney has a new album simply called New (easy enough to remember, right?) The song on that album called "New" (which is track six, though, being the name of the album, you would think it would be first) is very Beatles reminiscent, with a little bit of Paul McCartney and Wings-style percussion. Kelly Clarkson did that beautiful Christmas album! Jack Pearson did his greatest-hits album Googolplex and Other Numbers. Jason Derulo did his Tattoos album. I've heard talk of Elton John's The Diving Board. Between mainstream and indie, everything went well in 2013. And 2014 will be good too; with Springstein and all.

Wtf?!?

The is a band called the Front bottoms?

Should my occasional band name - The National Frontbottom sue their back bottoms off?

No, they are awesome. Leave them alone!

Paul McCartney's album New was also very good. Agreed.

Both the Dismemberment Plan and Kitchens of Distinction put out new records last year that were incredible. A fine return to the studio for both outfits.

This is the first time I've ever heard this song. I'm a big Primus fan and this is AWESOME! I'm going to check out more.

As for my fav bands/song of 2013:

J Roddy Waltson and the Business - Heavy Bells
METZ - Get Off (good ol' subpop grunge)
Charlie Boyer and The Voyeurs -I Watch You
Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know? (not a new band, but love this new song!)
Purling Hiss - Lolita
Drenge - Backwaters, I also dig Fuckabout a lot because I'm a fuckabout :) ( a couple brothers from the UK that play some bad ass guitar power rhythms, which is my thayng)
Pixies - Blue Eyed Hexe

A couple of those are my GOM picks

THis is what the people of Australia considered the best songs of 2013. The annual JJJ Hottest 100 was announced yesterday:

http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/13/

#1 Riptide by Vance Joy
I had never even heard of the song before - but is pretty damn cool, and a good choice AFAIC. Great to see a complete nobody from Melbourne get success by simply writing a damn good song

rest of the Top 10:
2 Royals - Lorde
3 Get Lucky - {Ft. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers} Daft Punk
4 Do I Wanna Know? - Arctic Monkeys
5 Drop The Game - Flume & Chet Faker
6 Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High? - Arctic Monkeys
7 Young And Beautiful - Lana Del Rey
8 Resolution - Matt Corby
9 Is This How You Feel? - The Preatures
10 Strong - London Grammar

I listened to the top 20 or so while driving yesterday. Had never heard many of them (don't listen to the radio much any more - and JJJ reception can get a bit dodgy out in the bush) A lot left me scratching my head as to why there were popular. WTF happened to the Arctic Monkeys? Their first album was so brilliant - but these later songs are a bit ...meh. Oh well, the kiddies seem to like them. Of the top 10 - I liked Vance Joy, Lorde, Daft Punk and Lana de Rey - not so much the rest of them

I'm far from a kid but I adored AM. Granted, it lacks the frantic energy of songs like "Crying Lightning" and "Brianstorm" but I feel like they are a much more cohesive band now. Even their live performances lately have been top notch.
