Actually, Spud was on bass. I would be the piano player on this one. Jack had never played drums before, but he did on this track.

Everyone screamed out "Frank" when they remembered to :)

You are right too, I personally had a lot of fun on this song, and throughout most of the album-a-day. Including my debut on drums (Dog Boy Hits the Skids) which has made me want to do more with drums now!

Also:

You are WAY too kind! Thanks!

ZIGGY PLAYED GUITAR..........
It's that, for sure, but I keep getting flashes of a more contemporary artist.

I'm currently thinking Gaz Coombes of Supergrass. Listen to Mellified Man's Bite Sized back-to-back with Evening of the Day. FBF singing for Supergrass? WTF?

I love Supergrass. If they are looking for a lead singer, I'm available...

Edge of LA
Sonically this is ok. It's campy. Is it my system or is it mono? Which is ok, just curious. I find you are reaching with the vocals and it's not selling them well. There are some pitch issues with the harmonies that detract from the overall performance. But it's tight and grooves along well. The mix is flat but everything is there. The bass playing is quite good. It just doesn't grab me.

Mellified Man
I'm instantly thinking of "they call me mellow yellow..." Who can't love FBF's voice? Impossible. Again, mono? Nice mix for such sparse instrumentation. Particularly the vocal treatment...very smooth and nice. Not overly keen on the voitar...it's not good enough for the rest of the track. Like the ending, very nice.

Anday Balham
Definitely don't like the guitar sound. It sounds very 80's solid state, either doubled and slightly out of tune, or chorus..not sure. See now I like the tone of the lead guitar. Mix wise, this is pretty solid. I can here everything. I don't really like the song however.

A Case of Octothorpe
I applaud you if this is like a fader up, 1micintheroom, like it sounds. It's tough to get balance like that off the floor. At least it was when I used to play with Leaf...DOH. ;) I love the continual FRANK yelling at times...great. There is always something sesame Street-ish about # that I love and hate at the same time. I'm not there yet, but I'm gonna keep trying.

Luke Henley
Is this an tribute to Wreckdom-The Early Years? There is occasionally a bit of something that catches my ear. That's usually followed by alot of stuff that doesn't.

My vote hits Mellified Man for sure. Thanks for the tunes!

I mega-honestly had little to do with Smell AIDS Experience other than I was present at the recording, supplied the samples off the TV, and submitted the song. The others involved appreciate all your comments, though. I think. I dunno.

snow day reviews!

edgeofla - this kind of reminds me of the police at times. fun and boppy. vocals are a little weak in spots but that doesn't ruin the fun.

# - you can tell which band this is right away. i like the piano. also fun! not so sure about the lyrics... they're good but a little icky!

balham - ooh great bass and drums. guitar's a little loud? still fun.

luke - not fun. this is just a random collection of noises.

mellified - the first line reminds me a lot of an old 60's song... "what a great day for a something" maybe. hey, this is good.

1: edge, #, balham, mellified

i'm going to vote for mellified.

Two mics, but mixed in real time to a mono track.

OK, I'll buy that. I wonder if he's just reminding me of himself!

Either way, congrats on the win FBF! I knew yesterday you were going to win, when Sarah begged me to stop repeatedly singing "oh I know you've got an appetite for being right ..." That's some catchy shit!

Good for you. We can prove that it's not just a load of overpaid actors who can dish out the mutual backslapping. Oh, and I'd like to thank each of my voters by offering them a pint if they ever wend their way to Balham.
