Wonderful. It arrives at the ICA next week so no doubt I shall be surrounded by pot-bellied, balding and pony-tailed electronics post-graduates :)

Had a chance to meet Bob Moog about ten years ago; he was touring with a documentary about the history of the theremin and even gave a talk about the circuit designs. I couldn't possibly describe the atmosphere better than j$'s deranged, but strangely accurate, imaginings.

looks neat. hmm.

I sure hate when I talk to people and pronounce it correctly ("mogue") and then we get in a stupid debate about which is the corret pronunciation. It rhymes with vogue damnit

But it's only cool when it's pronounced so as to rhyme with droog.

I have always corrected people when pronouncing Moog wrong, but what about the Moogerfooger pedals? How do you pronounce that?

I went to see this last night. very enjoyable in an inconsequential way. It did confirm a few things for me -

1. You can not look cool playing a keyboard, even a Moog.

2. Wearing a leather jacket and gurning like a chimpanzee while playing a Moog is not a good look. Nor is twiddling knobs like you're trying to get Radio Free Moscow, only for the tone of the keyboard to stay exactly the same. Yes, I am talking to you, Keith Emerson.

3. Rick Wakeman's hair is such an unnatural yellow colour one can only surmise he bathes in his own urine half a dozen times a day.

4. Anyone who understands the inner workings of electronic circuits is ever so slightly crazy.

5. The difference between a synthesiser musician and an electronica artist is the scraggliness of their beard. And that's just the women (boom boom)
