Drop in the Bucket

Post by jeff robertson »

as performed by FLVXXVM FLORVM

no one gives a shit about you
they don't give a fuck what you say and do
work all day in the hot hot sun
what thanks do you get when its done?
nothing!

sometimes you just got to say "fuck it",
you ain't nothing but a drop in the bucket

cannon fodder for the war machine
of the greatest empire ever seen
you fight fight fight and you try try try
you do do do till you die die die
for nothing!

sometimes you just got to say "fuck it",
you ain't nothing but a drop in the bucket

give all you got to the one you love
where is she when push comes to shove?
they take your house and they take your kids
they don't give a fuck if you end up on the skids
with nothing!

sometimes you just got to say "fuck it",
you ain't nothing but a drop in the bucket

A Drop in the Bucket

by glennny

When I needed to dig a grave
You gave me a spoon
My family was hungry
You gave me a prune

Even though its just
A drop in the bucket
Worthless gestures
Make me lucky

When my car was broken down
You gave me some Scotch tape
When I had to fly to New York
You gave me a cape

Even though its just
A drop in the bucket
Worthless gestures
Make me lucky

We were cold for all the winter
Thank you for the socks
I got sacked in a blitz
but thanks for the block

Even though its just
a drop in the bucket
Worthless gestures
Make me lucky

Drop In The Bucket - Paco del Stinko

You're just a drop (drop drop drop)
A drop in the bucket, and the bucket overflows, you better stop (stop!)
Stop it and love it cos that's the way it goes

You say you're the shit, and I say that you're not
You're just another drip in a bucket full of drops
And you're gonna drown
With all of the other clowns

You're just a drop (drop drop drop)
A drop in the bucket, and the bucket overflows, you better stop (stop!)
Stop it and love it cos that's the way it goes

Look, don't kid yourself, we're all important in our own minds
If you think that that don't help, pull your head from out of your behind
You're special to your family and friends, maybe even your dog
Trust me pal, that's where it ends, because you're nothing but a clod

You say you're the man, I see a minor league freak
Just another grain of sand on an endless beach
No one'll hear your cry
When you wash out with the tide

You're just a drop (drop drop drop)
A drop in the bucket, and the bucket overflows, you better stop (stop!)
Stop it and love it cos that's the way it goes
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

Berkeley Social Scene

Not much to say
so little left to do
all our hopes for the future
everything you accrued

make another deposit
waiting for our profit
filling up our wallets
drop in the bucket

money money money
land of milk and honey
filling up your tummy
hold you like a mummy

chorus

bodies lie in ruin
draining all the fluids
making you feel human
all part of the illusion

but you grow like a tree bearing dollars
loading up the chambers on your revolver
green is the only useful color
teach you to think like a scholar

make another deposit
waiting for our profit
filling up our wallets
drop in the bucket
drop in the bucket

I wrote a "Drop in the Bucket," but couldn't find the time to record it. As it turns out, babies are loud and time-consuming! I still like the song, and perhaps I'll get it recorded at some point.

Anyway, here are the lyrics.

There's a pond, about half a mile from my house
Where I take my dog, and sometimes feed the ducks
And I like to watch the people as they drive by
In their Chevys, and their Smart Cars, and their trucks

I know each one has a story
That it's mine to never know...

[chorus]
The world, in all its massive machinations
Has universes no one knows of yet
And all of this is only just a drop in the bucket
But it's the drop where we met,
It's the drop where we met

There's a lake on the north end of this county
You can see it from the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame
They say that it's not safe for us to swim there
But it's filled with bass and salmon all the same

So let's take this dive together
And soak in the great unknown

[chorus]

There's ocean over nearly half the planet
And it's more than can be seen from up above
Yeah, we've barely just begun to map the surface
This is how I feel about our love

[chorus]
"Warren Zevon would be proud." -Reve Mosquito
