heads up: The pigfarmer jr song from fearless love is in the bucket fight. It should be deleted. I didn't submit a song so there is no replacement to look for.

jebas-dig this all so, soul full, have a vote on me.

So few reviews - must be a busy week for everyone. Anywhooo...

Beat Senseless - Fun bassline and beat. I can't tell if the tune of the vocal melody is supposed to have any relation to the music, but I guess it doesn't really need to.

Mangles - Well balanced, well performed and well produced, and somehow a bit on the bland side. But OMG that sweet, sweet slide guitar.

Flvxxvm Florvm - Apparently the guitarist from the Scorpions and the drummer from Devo got together with that guy at the bus stop who shouts at himself. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just not my thing.

The Grim - This sounds like my worst headaches. I assume that's what you were going for, so congratulations.

Jeff DeSantis - Catchy, happy, good lyrics and great chorus. Maybe not breaking any new ground musically, but it doesn't need to; it gets lots of points for listenability, good feel and good singing. I really like it each time the chorus comes around.

Berkeley Social Scene - Good song, maybe a little plodding. Great guitar work. I sorta wish it had a little more of just about anything - more backing vocals, another guitar, I don't know.

Paco del Stinko - Fun fun fun. Fun song, fun lyrics, wild guitar solo. Made me smile, made me listen a couple more times.

Id of the stoop - Everything sounds very first-takey, very sloppy, maybe even improvised, even the lyrics. Did not appeal to me.

Jeebas Jones - Solid countryish G&G, much better than a lot of the recent countryish G&G Song Fight entries.

glenny - Muppets dance in my head when I listen to this song (and that is a very good thing). The vocal delivery is a little strange, as if the vocal tracks are trying to pick out harmonies instead of a lead vocal melody, but it doesn't matter I still love this song.

Beat Senseless - cool, catchy, beaty
Berkeley Social Scene - tense intro, nice dark atmosphere to the whole song - you expect the middle eight might lighten the mood a bit but no, we're all just a drop in the bucket
Flvxxvm Florvm - tough love it, answering-the-vocal guitar very nice
Glennny - I like the quirky bluegrass feel, I think I'd like it more if I could follow one of the voices as a lead vocal
The Grim - between listening to you and Flvxxvm Florvm I broke three chairs and a plate glass window, dig the 2nd pre-chorus breakdown thingy
Id of the stoop - got all cool at 1:30
Jeebas Jones - peaceful, flowers grew around my toes while listening, good stuff
Jeff DeSantis - more flowers, my wife likes, good composition, very Wilco maybe - sorry to compare to other bands, but I'm small-minded
Mangles - termerity...nice word...dig it...had to look it up, good song, the guitar solos felt a little out of place, the slide on the outro works
Paco del Stinko - poppy cool, I like the echoing backing vocals, nice guitar solo sound

There's some really great stuff in this.

The Grim is the best heavy stuff I've heard on Songfight since Jute Gyte used to kick it. You do not have neighbours. This is excellent.

BSS sounds great as always, Flxcvsdfgqwrem Floyoujm sounds great, 420 Groove Crew has a nice groove. Jeff DeSantis is really well recorded. Mangles is interesting.

But The Grim are not f*ing around.

Lucky me, back at in the states and the only way to my island is through Atlanta.... oh well, I digress...

Several nice songs this week and for once BBS actually had me tappin' my foot and enjoying the music....not so much the vocals.
I'll get around to reviewing all the songs but, I really want to send a big thanks to Jeebas Jones for the wonderful lyrics and simple enjoyment of a good song. Isn't that the whole point? Thx again, Jeebas...
