Yeah, I'm putting out the word too. But one thing I really don't have time for is promotion.
We're narrowing down song selections on The Blog. Lotsa work left to do in March!! :!:

Is there an obvious hotel (or similar) that's close to our venue? I'd like to book a room Real Soon Now (tm). I appreciate the home-stay offers, but would rather do the hotel thing at the time.

Thanks!

PLAT
There aren't any 'obvious' place to stay. Something in Downtown MPLS or ST PAUL will be plenty close to everything. There are also a lot of Hotels on the outer loops that wouldn't be too far to drive.

I don't know if there is still a 'Fantasuites' on I35, but the Jungle Room might be right up your alley.

Bolio, I will play on any song you want. That seems like plenty of songs to learn in one day for one band, but if you wanted to do one more I wouldnt mind doing Will the martians Eat us, the one I did for songfight, pretty easy and slow. I need to send out a huge email to all sorts of people, I need to know Info on the Venue, do you have that? Is there a page we could put up somewhere with all the details? Ive searched this entire thread and cannot find even a name of the venue we are at.

Cool Man

Most of the Bridges worthy of sleeping under are taken by Hobo's. I prefer a Park Bench in front of 'Dream Girls' club.

-OR-

Both Dylan & I have spare beds & the party will probably end up at either of these places.

Everyone's In!!
"Voice of Platoliostess Nau" SONGS SELECTED:

Bolio -
I'm Not Tentative
Let it Be

Platt -
Jimmy Hat
Tri-State Area

TVIH -
Direct to Helmet
I Don't Like Eggplant

MOSTESS -
Unless I Change My Mind
Last Date

DYLAN NAU -
Martians are Going to Eat Us

*****OTHER THINGS*****
Mostess has offered lead sheets, as do I. We need to figure out instrumentation by song next. Post your song name & what you want to play on it (& notes on vox, etc.)
Mostess - are you primarily a guitar player? Between Plat & I, you can have all the guitar parts you want. We will be keyboard heavy but can cover any guitar parts... & bass parts for that matter if Voice wants to expand his horizons.
Dylan - you're more than welcome to play other instruments, JL can cover drums on anything.
IF YOU CAN'T GET TO MY 'NOT TENTATIVE' SONG - I'll have Plat put it on his space. My web host is not satisfactory. But I do have a new server sitting in my house just waiting to be connected to the internet......

**ONE MORE THING - THE ACTUAL "SONG-FIGHT" PART**
I would suggest since there are many songfighters, but not many seperate song fight 'bands' playing at this show, that the "Song Fight" should be done by us as 'solo-artists' or 'duets.' Just an idea.

I'm a guitarist. I'll only bring a steel-string acoustic, but I can play an electric if someone wants me to and lends me one. I can handle backing vocals as well. I'll download these songs today and start playing them on constant repeat to stake out parts I like/would play well.

If anyone wants a lead sheet for an HM song, PM me. If you'd prefer an MP3 of an isolated track from an HM song, PM me. I'm toying with slowing "Last Date" down to a heart-breaking crawl, which might be cool, but possibly less fun. If you have an opinion, PM me.

This is going to be fun!

For Dylan's Martians are going to eat us,

Bolio - Piano (its real easy)/ chorus vox
Plat - Organ
Dylan - Vocals and guitar(lead)
Hostess- Acoustic (chordal stuff) and B/U vox during chorus(high part)/ or Bass if you want.
JL- Drums
TVIYH - can you play bass? if not play guitar.
Not sure what else.

Very few chords in this one so a lead sheet is prolly not needed. But Ill make one if need be.

Ill play whatever noone else wants to play. I think my Bass skills are pretty good so........

Of course! I am looking forward to it. If anyone wants to play a second lead to Let it Be Me by Fried, it would be great. Or on any other Fried song for that matter. My other guitarist is having surgery that weekend and our band will be minus one guitar :)

It's less than 3 weeks away.

1) When do we need to have a title for this live fight? I was figuring we could ask Spud or JB to help with a title.

2) Where has practice been established? We could use the bar during the day. (on low volume) All my equiptment will be at the bar.

3) Has anyone done any promoting? How many people do you expect to bring?

4) Who is doing the sound/ Video recording of the event. I have neither?

5) Does everyone have a ride and a place to stay?

P.S. My drummer would like to play with anyone needing a drummer. He is pretty excellent.

1. soon-ish, i guess, although for the austin show it was just one of the regular SF titles for that week. we could just say, for example, we'll use the yellow (or whatever) title that gets put up next monday...?

3. no; one.

5. no and no (see http://minnesotasongfight.blogspot.com/)

Yellow next week it is!

I can be your back up for both. Two items of interest @ my home, I don't party (so no booze in da house, normal drinkers only) and I don't smoke(you could smoke outside). I do have a nice car and I am not afraid to use it and I have a lot of money and I am not afraid to spend it (on food and pop ect... ). If that is not too boring for you, let me know. I am sure there are others coming that are not so... conservative.
