New Elvis Costello record! "Look Now" with The Imposters. Anybody listen to it yet?
I just started perusing the 10/12 releases here and trying to listen to some, picking more or less at random for those from folks I'd never heard of before.

I also listened to a bit of "Parcels" by the band Parcels, some funky mellow disco groovy stuff, kinda good.
There's also "Certainty Waves" by The Dodos, an album by Tom Morello of RATM, a new one by Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians, a new version of St. Vincent's last album made of live takes of the songs with just vocals and piano, an album by The Watson Twins (who I heard of when they did an amazing album with Jenny Lewis 10+ years ago), and lots more. Geez, a whole lot of people are making a lot of music these days...

I checked out some of these albums today...
Elvis Costello - too jazzy for my taste. I thought with the Imposters, this would be more rock and roll.
Parcels - didn't hold my attention.
St. Vincent - love the piano only version of Pills. So good.
Edie Brickell and New Bohemians - funkier than expected. Not as good as her songs with Steve Martin, but overall solid.
Tom Morello - Very interesting set of collaborations. I hope he makes a record with Red Hot Chili Peppers, that would be a good one.

Checked out a few more new albums:
Dodos - didn't grab me. I like one of their songs and enjoyed seeing them live one time, but overall just can't get into them.
Watson Twins - Pleasant enough.
BRONCHO, Bad Behavior - a little too mellow for me today
John Grant, Love is Magic - weird and wonderful. This is what songfight sounds like to me.
Kurt Vile, Bottle it In - mellow and hazy ride. Good background music for work today.
Mathew Dear, Bunny - interesting sounds and beats. Has a couple of songs featuring Tegan and Sara!

Re: New Music Friday - 10/12/18
I received the new Bottle Rockets album "Bit Logic" in the mail.. well, I guess I had the download a day or two before the twelfth as an early supporter of the album.
At any rate, it's a bit of a departure but still in their wheelhouse. Traditional Country Americana and a little less alt.country and rock. I like it, but still listening. I like the album before better, but it's not a bad listen at all.

Re: New Music Friday - 10/12/18
I didn't see a 10/5 post... so I'll put this one here...
Coheed & Cambria released their 9th studio album and it's thankfully a return to form for the band after their last album which was some weird departure that probably should have been released under a different name as it had nothing to do with the bands previous work... but this album should satisfy fans of the band... at least people who liked the bands first 3 albums... and the two Afterman albums... I admit that I didn't care for a couple albums in the middle of their discography when they were dealing with band member changes and I didn't really care about the last album at all.
