NUR EIN XIV - Shock Value - Dynamics
Faster Jackalope
Shock Value
Verse 1 (Child)
I could get piercings in every pore
You would applaud my style
Get face tattoos of black pentagrams
You’d think I’m going mild
Those old rebellions
Are just memes without humor
There’s no shock value
gen X is as bad as the boomers
Chorus (father)
Your dedicated,
Embraced conformity
Your generation
Will be the death of me
Verse 2 (child)
I could adopt a beret like Che
You’d sketch my five-year plan
I’d disappear, but my phone, I fear
Would tell you just where I am.
Your punk rock ethos
Does not make you iconoclastic
There’s no shock value
your dreams are wrapped up in plastic
Chorus (father)
half-verse 3 (child)
Thanks for the freedom
I see you’re having a moment
The real shock value
Is that you finally own it
Chorus (father)
END

"Shock Value" - Third Cat
those days would surprise me
i never knew what i'd see
head fell in the back seat
too clever to kiss her feet
now I feel
nothing's new
just no shock value
some thrills aren't what they seem
a melting couch, our breathing dream
burned holes right through my brain
my vacuum pouch filled with rain
now I feel
nothing's new
just no shock value
need a real way in
so I can feel again
these days just remind me
of someone else I used to be
(instrumental break)
now I feel
nothing's new
just no shock value
there's just no shock value

Two Girls, One Cup
The Rite of Spring
Piss Christ, Flower,
GG Allin
I can't feel a thing
Nothing shocks me anymore
There's just an emptiness
An open door
Un Chien Andalou
There's nothing, nothing, nothing
Nothing worse than losing you
The razor
Cuts the eye, cuts the moon
And I drift
Cut loose
Empty bed
Empty room
You tore my nerves out at the root
Left me cold and pale and hard
An egg, a cell, a tooth
Nothing shocks me anymore
There's just a numbness now
A swinging door
I want to feel something, anything, again
Rage, disgust, joy or lust
The flame, the bullet
Your open hand

Shock Value
by Lichen Throat
Let me tell you some events
I wrote in my new book.
It's set in 1828;
Won't you take a look?
Fog and mud obscure the streets,
Wrapping all in autumn chill.
Eyes are downcast; no one greets
Fellow men on Holborn Hill.
In the rag and bottle shop
Lives the greedy Mr. Krook,
Hoarding things that others drop,
Stacking papers, trash, and books.
He extorts impoverished tenants,
He’s the scourge of Lincoln’s Inn.
He will never be repentant,
Never cease his bitter grin.
Hating life without cessation,
Fed with greed and soaked in gin,
He explodes in conflagration,
Catching fire from within.
I didn’t do it for shock value;
I wrote it to expose the fires
That burn inside the greedy misers,
The evil men, the shameless liars.
From the sky the ash flakes drop;
Greasy odors fill the air,
Worse than burning mutton chops,
More than anyone can bear.
Young man on the windowsill,
Fingers drenched in yellow oil,
He has never felt so ill,
Such compulsion to recoil.
Through the door to Krook's abode,
Burnt remains upon the floor,
Finally reaping what he sowed,
Dead and gone forevermore.
Hating life without cessation,
Fed with greed and soaked in gin,
Now consumed in conflagration,
Catching fire from within.
You may tell me this can't happen,
But I say that you are wrong.
Read all 22 installments;
It's a great book, though it's long.

we've had our problems
there's no denying that
but moving forward
we claim enlightenment
but some of the values seen in our Parliament are simply shocking
Fraser Anning
Pauline Hanson
words just fail me
how did these racist cunts come to represent me?
when did we become neo-nazis? How did that happen
when did we become neo-nazis? How did that happen
when did that happen?
I don't remember signing up for that
Pacific gulags
Peter Dutton
News fucking Limited

shock value
[RIFF]
does it feel good? to be one of the “good ones”?
i bet the paycheck’s not bad and you get lots of offers to put yourself down
as a writer, like it says on your website
where you burn the bridge we have, and then for twenty bucks, you sell the ash
when all you got is shock value
what are you worth
if things aren't getting better
at least you can get worse
[RIFF]
does it feel good? to play the part of their gay best friend
to a group of people who would happily see me eaten alive?
you give the power, to the lies that would kill us
but you own your own house, you own a dog, why would you give a fuck?
when all you got is shock value
what are you worth
if things aren't getting better
at least you can get worse
if you get to yourself before they do
does it hurt less?
if you get to yourself before they do
does it hurt less?

Nick Soma - Shock Value
This lyric is written from the perspective of someone who has borderline personality disorder. Though I don't suffer from BPD myself, a close friend of mine does. This song was written with her in mind, though it is about fictional characters.
In their desperate search for love and affection, many people with BPD do "shocking" things in order to make others aware of their emotional agony, especially in a relationship. If done repeatedly, the shock value will decrease as the partner becomes numb to the shock and seemingly indifferent to their feelings.
This lyric is mainly addressed to the protagonist's partner, except for the pre-chorus, which is directed at... well, everyone.
So I'm bleeding all over
Your table and floor
But to get your attention
Has never been harder before.
I want you all to prepare.
I want you all to be scared.
Let me touch you once more
So I can breathe and come alive
The shock value's gonna wear off
What will remain by then?
An empty pod.
The story of a tortured soul
Told in every scar
Our demons make us suffer,
Yet make us who we are.
I want you all to prepare.
I want you all to be scared.
Hold me tight in your arms
So I can feel once again
The shock value's not gonna last
'Cause I know I will make you
Become numb.
How does it come
You're still here after all I have done?
You must be out of your mind.
Where will I go?
What will I do if I wake up alone
With no one by my side?
The raging fury in my heart
It turns to desperation
To nostalgia
To depression
To a bitter hatred toward myself
Hold me tight in your arms
So I can feel myself come alive
The shock value will disappear
And in my tears you'll find
You've become numb.

Re: NUR EIN XIV - Shock Value - Dynamics
Agony Sauce
Shock Value
If you asked around, There are those who would say I'm on crack
'Cause I want to make you happy, And I'll do anything for a laugh
I don't care what they say, because I know in my mind I'm a star
And I get a rise from people when I take things a little too far
And I don't know
how far I'll go
And soon there'll be no turning back
There is danger when you're up to trying anything once
There's the stunt that made me break my leg I was stuck using crutches for months
I'll go to any lengths to elicit the desired response
And I'll aim for the uncomfortable Because that's what the audience wants
And I don't know
how far I'll go
And soon there'll be no turning back
We keep moving the line
We keep moving the line (and we're crossing it)
We keep moving the line
Shock value
Shock value
Gonna wear off in time
[SOLO]
Well, I screwed up big, I'm famous and my name is disgraced
And the people who I entertained all laugh as I fall on my face
Was it worth it to risk my health, not to mention my life?
What good is attention when you die trying to get it right?
We keep moving the line
We keep moving the line (and we're crossing it)
We keep moving the line
Shock value
Shock value
Gonna wear off in time
S-H-O-C-K! It's a shock!

Inflatable Vegetables
Shocking people used to be so easy and absurd
A fifth of Jack, profanities and rock and roll
Fishnets, leather, makeup and dead babies
Chop my head off at the end of every show
Shock value
Shock value
Shock value
Shock ain’t got much value any more
Now Grandma sings along to ACDC and Disturbed
Little high school girls have piercings and tattoos
F-bombs drop like missiles over Syria
What’s a poor shock rocker gonna do?
Shock value - Ain’t got much value any more
Shock value - When you've seen it all before
Shock value - When extreme becomes the new norm
Shock ain’t got much value any more
I wondered if I was a symptom or cause of the problem
I changed my addiction from alcohol to golf
Read the Bible, go to church religiously
Crash together, Spend time with my family
Help inner city kids - Work for charity
Run for President - You can vote for me
Shock value - Ain’t got much value any more
Shock value - When you've seen it all before
Shock value - It's shocking if it's true
Could a crazy troubled man be more sane than you?

you wake up early in the afternoon and
you do your makeup, put your fancy clothes on
you come alive when you turn the camera on
try to utilize your education
they only talk about your situation
so you show a little skin to buy some time

all they wanted was some thinspiration and
you didn't care about your reputation so you're
getting skinnier for the shock value
you didn't think about the repercussions
and now the only topic of discussion
is that the skeleton queen is much too thin

Shock Value
We got an attitude problem
That's what society says (HA!)
We're not supposed to have value
We let it go to our heads
Hey! I do not hate myself, I know that's shocking
Hey! Don't want or need your help
Hey! You find your value when you know
You gotta love yourself
I got no apologies for ya
I checked and I'm all out of stock
On the receiving end of a side-eye
I know that it's not gonna stop
Hey! I do not hate myself, I know that's shocking
Hey! Don't want or need your help
Hey! You find your value when you know
You gotta love yourself
You gotta love yourself
I may be a little bit extra
I may be a little too much
You may be confused by the moves that we use
Paid my dues
As for you?
You're excused.

The Values are attenuating
Muscle pain extenuating
One way or another, I'll be out of here tonight
I stretch tight against the straps
His rapt attention starts to lapse
The sheets now hold a lake of sweat
Pain stabs me like a bayonette
One way or another, I'll be out of here tonight
(Chorus)
I don't recall signing the note
The room grew dark and then they wrote
Upon a clipboard - tied down to a chaaaaaaaaaair.
I thought this was a nasty joke.
While I was sleeping - now awoke
and found the dream is just a huge nightmaaaaaaaare
No idea what they want from me
Their cold black eyes stare back and see
My body tossed, like from a catapult
The voltage goes up one more notch
as people squint and then they watch
For some sign of a positive result
(Chorus)
I don't recall signing the note
The room grew dark and then they wrote
Upon a clipboard - tied down to a chaaaaaaaaaair.
I thought this was a nasty joke.
While I was sleeping - now awoke
and found the dream is just a huge nightmaaaaaaaare
The dials go up
But I don't even care
My hair stands up
What little is there
(Chorus)
I don't recall signing the note
The room grew dark and then they wrote
Upon a clipboard - tied down to a chaaaaaaaaaair.
I thought this was a nasty joke.

Shock Value - Abominominous
Oh, brother, it's my delicate regret to tell you
we caught the verdict, heard the word and passed the envelope around
cold comfort, devastate eviscer-valuation
these tonic treasures couldn't fetch the tidy sums you once avowed
Rode rugged, weathered, worn and left to blaze in infrared,
And mem'ry is the fog of lore, afflicting estimates.
Eroded gradual, with windfall legends blinding
Huey Reuberts picture disc, not as rare as you think it is
it's not as much as you hoped, it isn't even close
so keep your expectations low
no proof no provenance
is this your final offer
the best you can do?
(solo)
Hot blooded, is it even worth packin' up to take back?
Salted Adonis, fighting tears of beef defeat back up the ducts
Cold clarity, sentiment switches polarity
Stick it in storage and forget it, a nice day for an off-white wedding
Kept carefully, thought a bottom dollar'd be there for me
"you wouldn't believe how many they made of these"
I think you must be mistook, please would you take another look
one man's treasure, one man's burden
and both to the earth returnin'
it's not as much as you hoped, it isn't even close
so keep your expectations low
exposure and experience
that's my final offer
that's the most that i'm willing to do

SHOCK VALUE
NOTE: This song is about an internet date with an "edgelord" (someone who says something for the sake of being edgy, for the pure shock value). The lyrics explore a range of odd things that would be shocking to hear from someone, but perhaps not in the traditional way. The song intentionally tries to shock you, the listener, too, in subtle ways.
Voiceover
Hey, Melissa?
It’s nice to finally meet you in person. I’ve been looking forward to us getting to know each other.
Verse 1
Allow me to demonstrate my social aptitude
If I come off a little offensive, I wasn’t trying to be rude
Well actually I’m a good guy I supported my mom’s rights before my birth
Now, let’s start with a quick summary of my first 25 years here on earth
My first word was fedora
My first steps were out the door
I never really did belong
My parents were concerned that something might be wrong me
When I brought snacks to the classroom, I always brought raisins or banana chips
My favorite toys were the replica guns with the bright orange safety tips
Chorus
When I roll through the hood
It’s almost like I float
My ride handles smooth
Just like I’m driving a boat
The stereo is blasting
A song from my favorite band
Sometimes I get knocked down
But I get up again!
Voiceover
I hope I’m not sharing too much. I’m just trying to be completely honest. I hope you feel like you can be honest with me, too.
Verse 2
My grandfather taught me to fish, with dynamite
When I see a storm is coming, I quickly run outside to fly my kite.
I’ve got one of those belts that exercises abs while you’re sitting around.
When I walk in carpeted halls, I drag my feet behind me cause I like the sound.
Chorus (repeat first)
Bridge
My first girlfriend taught me the Vulcan Salute
I said she was a nerd - and she thought that was cute
I’m not ignorant. I just don’t understand
Why all of our disagreements were centered on Spider-Man
Voiceover
I love these kinds of deep conversations. I kind of feel like I’m doing all the talking though. Here, I’ve got some questions for you.
Verse 3
Do you love your coffee? Do you hate Mondays?
Are you bad at math or remembering peoples’ names?
Have you ever looked at the night sky, and has it made you think?
Who’s your favorite Star Trek character? Mine is Jar Jar binks.
Chorus
When I roll through the hood
It’s almost like I float
My ride feels so smooth
Just like I’m driving a boat
I got a spare life jacket
If you want to ride along
Da wit da ba da bang
Come on, sing along
When I roll through the hood
It’s almost like I float
My ride feels so smooth
Just like I’m driving a big ol boat
I got my radio blasting
My mind is lost at sea
Sometimes I get knocked down
But I get back up eventually
Voiceover
Well, it’s been nice chatting. I’ve gotta run to my martial arts class. But it was really fun learning all about you. I hope we can do this again sometime.

Shock Value
Challenge: Dynamics
Mr. Milgram here I am
Unstuck from the traffic jam
What am I to do and say
To Get the experiment underway?
Just ask questions? Piece of cake.
What happens if there’s a mistake?
Turn it up to two
Do what you’re told to do
It’s fine, it’s fine, just do as I say
It’s fine, it’s fine, we haven’t got all day
Ask the questions, press the button
In the name of science this will be worth somethin’
Mr. Milgram what’s your aim?
Does he seem to be in pain?
Doesn’t matter, let’s go again
Here’s another question, friend
Once again you’re incorrect
This shock will help your intellect.
Turn it up to five
He’s fine- hes still alive
It’s fine, it’s fine, just do as I say
It’s fine, it’s fine, we haven’t got all day
Ask the questions, press the button
In the name of science this will be worth somethin’
Mr. Milgram told me to
So this is what I have to do;
He says it’s fine, I’m sure you’re fine,
Do they always wail and whine?
Don’t blame me, just go along,
It’s your fault that you answered wrong.
Turn it up to eight
Hey, you’re doing great
It’s fine, it’s fine, just do as I say
It’s fine, it’s fine, we haven’t got all day
Ask the questions, press the button
In the name of science this will be worth somethin’
Oh, my heart, it’s beating thrice as fast as any
Should, what part of matching words do I not under-
Stand, I thought I’d make a buck this afternoon but
Now, I’m not so sure I’ll make home again so
Tell my wife I said (dissolves into screaming)
Turn it up to ten
Then we’ll go again
It’s fine, it’s fine, just do as I say
It’s fine, it’s fine, we haven’t got all day
Ask the questions, press the button

Shock Value - Paco del Stinko
A London fog with a gash down the middle
A flesh flash vision in the blink of an eye
I'd tell you why I do it but I know very little
Guess I'd better give it one more try
You don't know how much it means to me
You don't know how much it means to me
You don't know how much it means to me
You don't know how much I care
How much do you see - How'sit make you feel
How much electricity - Does it take to make it feel real
I clipped my nails - Puppy dog tails
Is it beyond belief - And tomorrow never sails
I don't know why I do it, but I do what I must do
Tattered shades and window panes
Shining light on the truth
But I feel so alive
But I feel so alive
Do you show your teeth in terror
Or maybe it's a grin
Is it from the sin that's within
Eyes open wide I can see right inside
I get a charge out of you seeing me
Electrocisity high
Beyond belief beyond release

Bend the knee
I'll incinerate my enemies
For shock value
I'll obliterate your wolf pack too
Bend the knee
I'll eviscerate your family
For shock value
And then I will destroy you
Now my wrath is upon you
I'll rain fire from the sky
There is nothing you can do
All the world shall be mine

Shock Value
by Berkeley Social Scene
The crowd is on their feet
close to the stage, feel the heat
amplifiers roaring at eleven
six strings straight to heaven
You know we're the best
so far ahead from all the rest
our value is shocking
high caliber rocking
Long hair, long hair and leather
we're in this together
sold our souls to rock and roll
now we've lost control
You know we're the best
so far ahead from all the rest
our value is shocking
high caliber rocking
Expect the unexpected
win a prize that's undetected
Bend the knee
Even if you're family

You want a shock
I’ll give it to ya
You’ll never want it to stop
A current running so hot
I see you watching
You’re waiting to see
Just how far this will go
Will you stay for the show
Violent
Victim of the blood shed
Where do you draw the line
Powerless
To the disease
Don’t ever shut your eyes
It’s not a safe place
To spend the night
But you’ll pay any price
To surrender your rights
I hear you breathing
I know what you think
And you know that it’s wrong
But you want to belong
Violent
Victim of the blood shed
Where do you draw the line
Powerless
To the disease
Don’t ever shut your eyes

Shock Value
by Max Bombast
I wouldn't have volunteered
If I knew that I would end up here
In an electric chair
Your hand on the button
And there's a scientist
Who has the answer list
Answer wrong and
I WILL GET A SHOCK!
I get an answer wrong
He says "You must go on"
Three hundred volts arcing across the air and
My chest it palpitates
The voltage aggravates my heart condition and
I'M BEGGING YOU TO STOP!
Up the shock value
Watch while you're causing me pain
I'll be fine after time
But will you be the same
Once you know how far a stranger can make you go?
For me there's no escape
But you could always walk away
Turn to the man and say "I won't take your orders"
You think they're testing me
But they are testing you
They're trying to find exactly
WHAT A MAN WILL DO!
Up the shock value
Watch while you're causing me pain
I'll be fine after time
But will you be the same
Once you know how far a stranger can make you go?
Look, I know we're not supposed to talk
But I'd really prefer you not give me a shock
Look, I know we're not supposed to talk
But I'd really prefer you not...
NOT TO FIFTY!

Shock Value
the Sunday Colors
You don't have anything nice to say to me
But that hasn't slowed you down from trying
Just once I wish you'd communicate sparingly
Though armed with best intentions, you have always evil underlying
Is it too much to ask for? Too much to ask for? To let the feeling stay
And I'm too old to ask for, too young to ignore, and now the time has slipped away
And it's gone, gone, gone, it's gone, gone, gone; and I won't be back for more
And it's gone, gone, gone, it's gone, gone, gone; and I won't be back for more
I won't lift the sword from the stone and lay it down at your feet
Your heart may be a stronghold, but I am not its keep
I won't always let you have your way with me
Our love was a sight magnificent and now there's nothing left to see
Is it too much to ask for? Too much to ask for? To let the feeling stay
And I'm too old to ask for, too young to ignore, and now the time has slipped away
And it's gone, gone, gone, it's gone, gone, gone; and I won't be back for more
And it's gone, gone, gone, it's gone, gone, gone; and I won't be back for more
You speak without thinking
Such a careless point of view
Pay no attention to the content of your message
Only thinking about the shock value
You speak without thinking
Such a careless point of view
Pay no attention to the content of your message
Only thinking about the shock value
You don't have anything nice to say to me
But that won't stop the water rising, breaking down my door
Is it too much to ask for? Too much to ask for? To let the feeling stay
And I'm too old to ask for, too young to ignore, and now the time has slipped away
And it's gone, gone, gone, it's gone, gone, gone; and I won't be back for more
And it's gone, gone, gone, it's gone, gone, gone; and I won't be back for more
You don't have anything nice to say to me
the Sunday Colors
