Long Story Short

Post by Æpplês&vØdkã » Fri Sep 27, 2019 7:29 pm

Phlebia

Boundless exposition
(Pages and pages of sages and mages
and landscape descriptions for ages and ages)

Overcomposition
(Your imagery is nice, could you be more concise?
Now here's some advice: a bit less would suffice)

I'm caught in gossamer webs woven by your pen
Your words an oddysey with an uncertain end

Words spew forth like geysers
(The red pen, the ink, the narrative to shrink,
the phrasing redundant, the adjectives abundant)

Classic purple prose
(Your sentences compound and your verbiage confounds
you could write more compact and leave the story intact)

Caught in the storm of your rising inky tide
I'm crying please, won't you make your long story short?

Long Story Short
Pigfarmer Jr

I don't know why she never said goodbye
If it was me or if she found some other guy
Don't know what I did so wrong
Or that she'd stay away this long
I guess I never realized

I guess I'll never truly understand
Why she packed up all her shit and ran
I keep thinking that I missed a clue
In the things she would say or do
I guess I wasn't in her plans

I saw her on the street today
She turned and looked the other way
Long story short she doesn't love me anymore

I like to think we could've stayed friends
Maybe visit every now and again
Long story short she doesn't love me anymore

I saw her on the street today
She turned and looked the other way
Long story short she doesn't love me anymore

I like to think we could've stayed friends
Maybe even visit every now and again
Long story short she doesn't love me anymore
Long story short she doesn't love me anymore

Long Story Short, Hot Pink Halo

***

Long story short
Long story short
She's making a short story long
(Boy boy)

Penelope is in a spin
Her old man's lost at sea again
And they don't know if he is dead
And gone
The walls and grounds are jointed
Full of breezers from all round the point
They're eating her and Tele out of
House and home
To banish every septic man
Pen needs a lasher of a plan
Sure you know she's got one and she
Sets it in motion
It shouldn't have to be this hard
Why should she have to play the cards
To kick all of these langers off her
Goddamn lawn?

Despite every no you're stuck like glue
But Penelope will not marry you
So long story short
Long story short
She's making a short story long
(Boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy)
(So so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so)
(No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no)
(Boy boy boy boy)

Pen wants to loose a million tanks
But there's a longer, better prank
She sets up her old faithful loom to
Reel them in
By day she beats down every thread
To make a cover for the dead
She asks for some respect and she's
Away for slates
By night she unweaves every string
And so the shroud remains nothing
This is how she holds them back for
Three whole years
She's doggy wide but it's not enough
They cotton on to Penny's bluff
The warp and woof are finished up and
Handed to the Fates

Despite every no you're stuck like glue
But Penelope will not marry you
So long story short
Long story short
She's making a short story long
(Boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy)
(So so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so)
(No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no)
(Boy boy boy boy)

Despite every no you're stuck like glue
But Penelope will not marry you
So long story short
Long story short
She's making a short story long
(So so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so)

song.title = 'long story short'
song.artist = 'gizo vs. the 17,445'

and so I’m staring at the sunrise
i love that golden light
the sun it catches on the wing tips
of an early bird in flight
and now i’m walking by the ocean
it makes me feel alright

and every day i find
another seashell to collect
and every day i find
another reason to object
to my old city life
and pretty soon i will forget
what it was even like

and still i’m walking by the ocean
it makes me feel alright
the sun it catches on the wing tips
of a cormorant that dives
and now i’m staring at the sunset
i love that golden light

and if you want to cut a long story short
i’m dreaming about a house we could’ve bought
and if you want to cut a short story shorter
i’m dreaming about living by the water

Long Story Short
Eat It 'n' Mattress

Two low-key keystrokes, and cold tea at her side. She closes her keynote one last time.

Sliding her chair back, she declares that Jan's her ride. And we all know Jan is sandwiches.

Aww. You don't want mayo on that. Just snake in a stomach tube. You don't want tomatoes, aww man. She ain't no comfort food.

The whistle sounds, we're going down the block where the pot stirs high above the coals.

And I walk in, fall, and get stickered.
IT'S A STICKER AMBUSH!!
Even my bus driver's there, just scrapin' empty decal sheets from the floor - his teeth wide, shining as he peels the outline part - and wraps it round my neck.
And he screams, "I guess the glass is half full after all."

And we all go build some housing with the same windows in the same place and the same door in the same place and the same names on the name plates and the same paints on the gateway.

Now I don't know where my house is, and I don't care.

Long story short, to its bony core:

At the grocery store a line slowly formed for the smoky pork. There were only four of that protein source, served normally warm. It caused all-out war, with a throaty roar. I was mostly bored, so I didn't stay. I washed with soapy warm water, it'll be okay.

Balance Lost

The future was bright
Or so you thought
Until you cut this story short
All you do is talk

Taking what's not yours
But you got caught
Trying to cut this story short
All you do is talk

The story of a girl
Who sailed around the world
On a mission to save us from ourselves
Drowning in a sea
Of things that we don't need
The fire and the smoke don't need our help

Since time began
We're a flash in the pan
The clock is running down
Show me a plan

The future was bright
Or so you thought
Until you cut this story short
All you do is talk

The story of a girl
Who sailed around the world
On a mission to save us from ourselves
Drowning in a sea
Of things that we don't need
The fire and the smoke don't need our help

Vom Vorton

I asked her, “what’s your name?”
she looked familiar to me
she said “Abigail Jane
Petunia Carolina Stephanie

Harriet Maria Laura
Sarah Petra Pat Aurora
Ethel Edna Simone Chloe
Heather Louise Catherine Zoe

Anne-Marie Rosemary Lily
Agnes Joan Barbara Millie
Melissa Jade Amanda Kylie
Emma Jane Patricia Miley…”

I kinda tuned out for a while
and when she finished, raised the thought
“can I call you Abby,
cut a long story short?”

And she said “no,
I’m afraid
you may not.”

Long Story Short - The Magnetic Letters

I finally completed level four of Herzog Zwei
Now I think I'll have a go at level five
I know I could be doing something else
But I'll never fail if I never try
And the long story short: I feel sorry for myself
And that is why

When I lie dying some time in the future
And think back on all my achievements and mistakes
I know I'll think fondly of afternoons spent
On the couch playing pirated Mega Drive games
'Cause life is a long story short in the end
And I'm glad that I got my priorities straight

In the murky grey dawn the tyrant's troops scuttle away
Taking position they check their equipment awaiting the cry
"Attack!"

Lily Plus Martin/Long Story Short

Woke in my house, lights flicker in and out
Moves through just like a breeze
His footsteps without a body
God he doesn’t see me

Thought I might be alright but I’m not
I’m as alone as I used to be
What does he want from me
And this was not the first time

I cut a long story short
I cut our long story short

This old house is still a home to the children
of the spiders that we swallowed in our sleep

Now we don’t take our meals together
Every night my sleepwalk’s woken
My steps broken by the shadow in my bed
of words unsaid

I cut a long story short
I cut our long story short

You took hold of my sleep
Want to scream it’s not a dream
It’s the ghost of you
Move through me like you used to do

And if I die
And if you die
Will we both be still hanging around here
Can a ghost haunt another ghost?

[They say you’ll fade in good time]

We cut a long story short
We cut our long story

Long Story Short
With an eye on eternity
You cut to the chase
And an ear for absurdity
You put me in my place

Waxing poetic
If its a haiku
No no no forget it
I thought I knew you

Long Story Short
When written in crayon
It's not the full report
But no one is complaining

With a nose for obscenity
You wish there was an excuse
You lost your touch of dignity
It never was much use

Waxing poetic
If its a haiku
No no no forget it
I thought I knew you

Long Story Short
When written in crayon
It's not the full report
But no one is complaining

Long Story Short

Long Story Short
some hobits and some orcs
went on a search
through Middle Earth
took the ring back to its source
so much derision
for this decision
to let it run its course

Long Story Short
reading tennis is a bore
the epic quest
for infinite jest
turned into a chore
my big obsession
with his depression
(I) just couldn't take no more

Long Story Short
the moon is now no more
we're all displaced in outer space
the Earth is rather scorched
in five millennia
with our compendia
we'll land upon the shore

Long Story Short
by Berkeley Social Scene
with music, lyrics, vocals, and acoustic and lead guitar by special guest Norman Famous

She makes breakfast with her high heels on
Sunday morning paper laying on the lawn
Next door neighbor taking out the trash
You never have to worry when you got cash

When you got cash
You got cash

(solo)

I know what happened
I was there
I know what happened
I was there
I was there
I know what happened
I was there

Husband came home and caught us in the act
Fact turned to fiction and fiction turned to fact
The next door neighbor was dying to know
You never have to worry when you got somewhere to go

We got somewhere to go
(Long story short)
Somewhere to go
(Long story short)
We got somewhere to go
(Long story short)
Somewhere

Long Story Short
by Break Broken (aka Jon Eric)

Walk a while in the woods without a compass and you're bound to drift
Wade below the water in a three piece suit and you'll never lift
You learn a lot about the life you're living when you get a priceless gift
And turn it down

Find me running, eyes closed, hoping that my feet don't leave the path
Weathermen waiting for their cues, chew erasers while they do the math
Waiting for the moment they can forecast Hell and Heaven's wrath
Against their town

We need to believe
In ourselves when we're weak
When we stumble and fall
We get to decide
How hard we will fight
If we're fighting at all

Long story short, it's a wonder I'm here

Anyone whose's ever felt the breeze of a sword that barely missed
Anybody suddenly inspired to begin their bucket list
Nothing but a waste of force to ricochet your fist
Against the ground

We need to believe
In ourselves when we're weak
When we stumble and fall
We get to decide
How hard we will fight
If we're fighting at all

Long story short, it's a wonder I'm here
Long story short, it's a wonder we're here
