I can speak only for myself, as I am but a fraction of DW, but the B-52's are not on any of our songlists.

I think you listen to the B52s. It's got their kind of vocal rhythm and intonation. It's also completely unlistenable.

I am sorry, I assumed that patrons of a website I learned about indirectly by my listening to kompressor would be a little more inclined to laugh at something like that and see it as a joke, instead of call me on it like I'm an idiot.

Sheesh, man, you made a joke, then I made one back.

If I wanted to imply you're an idiot, I'd type "You're an idiot", because it's alot simpler.

He's new here. He just didn't know. When 15-16's around, be prepared to be blasted by the Battlestar Sarcastica. Don't take it to heart.

Wouldn't make 'Best of The Hell Yeahs', but could be in 'Best of The Hell Yeahs II".
Ha ha ha! That's a nice way to put it! Truth be told, when recording it, I was going for a kind of juxtoposition with the vocals and music. We usually layer Heathers voice a lot, and this time went with a more stripped down sound vocally, to offset my poor neglected 7 string!

I still like it, and I think it'd be the FIRST track on best of the Hell Yeahs II!

ha!

ABC - Really nice sound. The guitar sounds great. Nice melody too. Sleepy but unboring - congratulations.

Calfborg - Percussion is great. The synths need to come down - or maybe just come in for the chorus. At first the vocals were irritating, but I got into them when the chorus came in. This is a cool song.

CC - I personally don't like novelty lyrics. That's my problem. The keyboard sound works pretty well. The song is pleasant, but doesn't grab me much. Perhaps if I liked the lyrics...

Daj - Hmmm... well the lyrics are lame. That high guitar is cool. Enjoyable enough because you were smart about the length.

H2Ruin - Sorry, I don't like it. Don't really have anything constructive to say either... I did listen to it a bunch trying to think of something to say though!

Hell Yeahs - This basically rocks. Love the rumbliness. The effect on that backup vocal is just right.

JBB - The return of Robot John. This could use more ass. Or at least in the vox. That is a nice bass sound. Very cool, songwise. The "say you love me again" is a great great moment.

KTwins - Harmony vocal is off, which is only mildly irritating. It's not enough to take down the coolness of "Everytime I come back to Earth" - a really nice melody. The arrangement isn't my kind of thing at all, so that kept me from totally getting into it.

Motor Monkeys - I like it. You and the Hell Yeahs split my rock award. My favorite part is the chorus, which is awesome- epic, in fact.

Loads - This recording is terrible and obscures what sounds like a pretty cool live band.

RDurand - The rhyming is a bit slavish, though you get some satisfying moments when the rhyme is clearly the perfect choice ("..what the first guy saw" is great). Vocals aren't to my taste. Good energy rocking. It's rad to hear so much real live rock and roll on Song Fight.

Sell Crazy - More rock! Ok, this is exactly to my taste. Except I wish the vox were stronger. Love the melodies. Really nice songwriting. Belt that out with that rad accent.

SDurand - These vox need a serious confidence infusion. And the rest of the field didn't do you any favors with all the live drums. Then you pushed your uber-fake drums way to the front. The song itself is not bad though- it could go way further with a singer who could really sell it.

Hey Jefffffff, this ADD song is awesome. This would be cool to remix.
Make it even more whacked-out with some electronic elements.
Just listening to everything and thought I'd mention that.

That didn't seem like a joke to me. Seemed like an explanation of my joke, which would imply it's not funny, because jokes that need to be explained are not likely to be laughed at, just as songs that need a manual are not likely to get rdurand's vote.
Kompressor is no joke, mister.
All I was trying to say is that there are some forms of art/certain artists where when you meet another that appreciates it, I assume certain things in common... these art forms, for me, include but are not limited to, Kompressor, Wesley Willis, Steve Oedekerk and The Tick.

And I know, again with the assumptions, but the ole "ass outta U and me" is a cliche, or proverb at best, not proven by the scientific method.

Song Fight's demographic is a little too broad to assume those things, I think. Got all kinds over here.

Sell Crazy: Hmmm... you sound like a ska band playing rock music. The song is very underwritten, everybody is playing the same thing, and it sounds like being pummeled with an orchestra hit setting on a yamaha keyboard. It never really goes anywhere. It just kind of sits there. This would sound 100% better if you played it like an uptempo ska song, or at least just played it way faster. This song isn't doing it for me.

Add: I like the Talkingheadsish layering of groove that you got going on here. The guitar solo sounds cool, that's a cool sound there. I like the layering of voices thing. This song is good. There should be an extended version that's just like the same thing but like 3 times as long, I could dig into that.

Abecedarian: The intro makes me want to hit fastforward. Which is sad, because when the vocals really kick in, then the song starts to really get going. Man, it reminds me of something. Can't remember what it's reminding me of right now, so that's a good thing. I like when you really get to belt the crap out of the song. That's cool and I wish there was more of it. I like this song.

CC and the Creeps: Even if there weren't novelty lyrics, I would poo-poo this song. It's just so much of "One chord, other chord, first chord, other chord" and it's really not doing anything. Okay, then it gets to the chorus. The chorus is something better. But it's not enough and it's too late and it doesn't stick around long enough. I don't care for this song.

Rick Shallow and the Blown Loads: gawd, it's too clippy and antimixed for me. If I saw you live, and you all move around like rockstars, I would probably get into this, laugh, and stick around for a couple songs at least. But I don't care for this recording at all.

jbb: The vocoder is not doing it for me; I want it to be a female voice, until the end, when it sounds cool. And a less harsh guitar tone. I want the title to stick out more from the rest of the chorus, to have another layer or something to draw attention to it. Hell, I want a tattoo of Woody Woodpecker smoking a cigar. I am a whiny bastard. This song is fun.

Hello to Ruin: Man, I would shake you both very hard if you were here. This song is dong, and your voice sounds too much like you were in drama club all throughout high school, and then at times you veer a bit close to that guy who was all famous a few years back for doing freaky voices while reading school lunch menus. This is a recipe for me not liking this song, so I do not.

The K Twins: Drink 1/2 a bottle of whiskey, sing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" tonight at the top of your lungs at the local karaoke bar 3 times, go to bed, wake up early, re-record the vocals, remix the song with the keys and vox mixed way lower and the whole thing about 1/2 as fast, drive your Delorean at 88 miles per hour, find a cute new wave girl from 1989 who knows me, and convince her to put this a mix tape that she's making for me. If you did all that I would probably like this song right now. It sounds vaguely like one of those songs that you find on a tape in your mom's attic, and when you play it for someone, they either freak out and tell you a story about how they kissed someone else's boyfriend at their junior prom, or they look at you like "why are you playing me this song?" This song is okay.

Calfborg: Man, give Jefff like $100 to rerecord this song for you, and let his change any of the words he wanted. I don't like the tone of any of the parts, but it sounds like there's some sort of a decent song buried deep underneath all of them. I don't really like this song like this.

Hell Yeahs: Man, that first drum roll intro and I thought we were headed for some scary metal or hardcore. This song is very dark, and I like how there's lots of space for your voice to really move in it. I like this song.

Daj Werkenhorse: Yeah, that high guitar tone is pretty sweet. Use that in another song. One that's not about Neo Geos. This song is pretty silly, and I don't care for it.

Ross Durand: The lyrics are way too TMBG for this style of song. The first line is just awful, and it makes me start hating your song. Man, you need to pour some Pixies all over this song. That would make it sound alot better. Like, start out with something other than just tasteful strumming, like give the song a decent intro with a big thudding bassline. And THAT'S where you need to put in the little blues licks, right there at the beginning. Have the vocals kick in after the intro and have the song be playing all quiet like. Don't stop the flow into the chorus with the blues lick, just keep going full blast straight through to the chorus. And then have everything get all LOUD AS FUCK and sell the chorus. "Systematic, systematic panic" that sounds pretty cool when you sing it. This chorus is pretty good. The rest of it is a bit too generic for my tastes. This song is alright, but it's not really moving me like it could.

Motor monkeys: The groove isn't bad, but it needs a better melody. The melody is just aping the groove, and it makes the whole thing seem repetitive. The sound here isn't bad, but the song isn't really doing anything for me.

Steve Durand: Way too MIDI. Your voice sounds unsure and like you need to clear your throat. Oh dear, you did not just namedrop 9-11. Dear Lord, what the hell. Okay, I can't tell if this is a parody or not. This is way too cheezy for its own good, but not overthetop enough to make it clear that it's supposed to be that way, if it's supposed to be cheeze. I don't like this song.

For those of you that like the 'high-guitar tone', IT IS A KEYBOARD.

I ASSUMED fellow musicians could tell.

Also, I think rockandrollbot said it best when he said, "The B52s are not on any of our songlists".

If anything, the song was a homage to Numbers, Polysics, and Devo.

Anyway, continue the joke.

Man, I can't even remember all the instruments that people have claimed to hear in my songs (that weren't there). That's kind of how it goes, I think; we're mainly just trying to be clear about what sounds we're talking about.
-It's about power.
That's ridiculous. It's not even funny.
