How are the Special Relatives supposed to resist making a song called We Are All Made of Strings? And why did school decide to start sucking right now? If I get all my shit together before Thursday (song-recording day), I will be in. But it's not likely.

Boo. :'(

If "We Are All Famous" made me think of "We Are All Made of Stars" I better not do "Strings" :)

question - what is the difference between saying 'We are all made of String' and 'We are all made of Strings'? Is it some science thing? Or just bad grammar? :)

I could be coerced for the title to get you in on something I might do for that title. I'll PM you if I ever get it together. That is ofcourse if you'd be willing. Redcar would probably be the vehicle.

BTW Love the titles this week coming. All of them rule. I wonder how many Oh Britney submissions will have a sample of Mrs. Spears music?

well, "strings" i would consider to be multiple pieces of string. that is, the plural of "a string", which is a piece of string. so if you were made of several pieces of string strung together, you would be made of strings. in this case you would also be made OF string. as you would if you consisted solely of a single strand of string. macht klar?

I'm not gonna be able to get any use out of these, so if anyone else wants to use 'em, go ahead:

Oh Britney,
you remind me of Gene Pitney
Made an awful song that, sadly
God help me,
just won't leave my brain alone

Oh Britney,
if you write another ditty
that ends up half as shity,
please Britney
don't unleash it on the world

Go and count your money, Britney
Get married in a hurry, Britney
then divorced without a worry, Britney
Just keep out of the studio

Oh Britney,
if you sing that bloody 'Hit Me'
just one more time then, Britney,
dear Britney,
I'm gonna punch you in the throat

Go and count your money, Britney
Get married in a hurry, Britney
then divorced without a worry, Britney
Just keep out of the studio

Help Sting save the planet, Britney
Trade wardrobe tips with Janet, Britney
Prove Michael didn't plan it, Britney
Just keep out of the studio
obscurity.

stringed perhaps? I vote for strings, as in, "My football team has two strings, and I'm not in either of them."

Think a nod to Ennio Morricone is in order for this week for "Ancient". I don't know how it will turn out, though. And I wish I had a real trumpet. Anybody wanna help?

Hmmm... We only have until Friday...

But I wonder if it would be about the right time for a Starfinger/Def Author collab?

EDIT: Maybe another time. Starfinger is not feeling well this week.

ROCK!

After a few days of playing around with "Oh Britney", I distracted myself by writing a little ditty for "We Are All Made Of Strings", then returned to "Oh Britney", which became "Ancient" because I know more about feeling old than about pop culture.

Then my wife veto'd it because she thought my "We Are All Made Of Strings" was much better.

So, submitted: "We Are All Made Of Strings".

i agree that the word "string", like "deer" or "sheep" or "moose" can be both singular or plural. but like "fish/fishes", "string/strings" are both acceptable plural forms of the word. and if you were referring to a particular quantity (i.e. "there are five ____ on my bass"), "strings" would be preferred. at least by me it would be.

also if you were preceding the word in question with an adjective describing an amount, it would depend on the situation (i.e. "several strings", "many strings", but "lots of string OR strings", "a large quantity of string OR strings").

in summary: the plural of "string" can be either "string" or "strings" depending on how it is used, and someone could possibly be made of "string" or "strings" interchangeably, based on one's personal preference.

I assumed that in a context like this, "string" was a substance, like "cloth" or "aluminum" or "vicodin." One could say "we are all made of strings" if we are made up of individual strings, but here, I assume that we are all made of the material string.

EDIT: Shit. The song is "strings" not "string," making my post look pretty much silly. Sorry.
