100 Artists for SongFight #1000!

I think it's possible to email the entire user list. Sam? Fluffy? Anyone know? That's how you bring the skeletons from the closet.

I don’t think we actually have a list of artist emails anywhere. The forum might have an email announcement function though, I dunno.

I don't love the idea of trying to send out a mass email. Feels a little spammy. I bet we'd get a lot of rejected emails from defunct email addresses too. We don't have a list of emails handy anyway, we'd have to scrape them from saved emails in the fightmaster inbox and/or from the forums. The forums could be difficult to use for that unless we could do it only for active accounts. (Across active _and_ inactive accounts, it's probably like 90%+ spam bot accounts at this point.)

One email a year from songfight... or in this case, one email every decade or two, is not spammy, imo. But the hurdles of actually having a useful email list is probably prohibitive. If you want to organize something, though, you need some sort of way to organize the thing. Email makes the most sense if it were easily doable. Since I'm not volunteering my time and energy I vote to do it if you can. (Yes, I know I have no votes.)

The alternative is to mention it a dozen times on FB, Discord, Slack etc., etc.,

I consulted with the senior FMs and we don't want to release the title early, but what we can do is say that title 1000 will go up on 2024-03-14 and the due date for it will be 2024-03-24.

That works for me. I’ll try and get some interest from the old folks outside the board, since I know many might not have checked out the forums recently.

My first pass on email contacts got a few old times interested in joining. I'll keep it up, since it's a great excuse to reach out to friends I haven't chatted with in a long while.

I'm optimistic we will hit 100 artists. I'm also going to stock up on caffeinated beverages and tea. The 3/25 LP starts at 8pm EDT. I'm sure it will go until 1 ish if I guess correctly.
