Drinking in the Dark
Drinking in the Dark - Frankie Big Face
I’m drinking in the dark again
Still searching for that spark again
A light can’t find the soul
Of a heart that’s made of coal
So I’m drinking in the dark again
I’m sleeping in the park again
Hungry and thirsting for my dearest friend
But a bench is not a bed
Nor a place to lay your head
Still I’m sleeping in the park again
Remember when you said to me
That everything was meant to be
I listened I listened I listened
You got the best of me
Now we are enemies
But I miss you I miss you I do
So I’m drinking in the dark, it’s true
Still bleeding from the heart for you
There’s nothing left to say
My words just ricochet
So I’m drinking in the dark
And sleeping in the park
I'm drinking in the dark again
I’m drinking in the dark again
Still searching for that spark again
A light can’t find the soul
Of a heart that’s made of coal
So I’m drinking in the dark again
I’m sleeping in the park again
Hungry and thirsting for my dearest friend
But a bench is not a bed
Nor a place to lay your head
Still I’m sleeping in the park again
Remember when you said to me
That everything was meant to be
I listened I listened I listened
You got the best of me
Now we are enemies
But I miss you I miss you I do
So I’m drinking in the dark, it’s true
Still bleeding from the heart for you
There’s nothing left to say
My words just ricochet
So I’m drinking in the dark
And sleeping in the park
I'm drinking in the dark again

Drinking in the Dark

Read a letter from long ago
Tore it up and let it go
Heard that song on the radio
That used to make me cry
Never thought it'd get like this
Where I could sit and reminisce
About that sweet and venom kiss
That used to get me high
And I know you don't gotta keep me still in your heart
But I know I don't wanna keep on drinking
Keep on drinking in the dark
Took a ride on a sinking ship
Paid with gold that was counterfeit
The captain told me to sit with it
And pray to be atoned
And when the sunlight washed over me
I took a dive into the sea
Where I could breathe so easily
And made the water home
And I know you don't gotta keep me still in your heart
But I know I don't wanna keep on drinking
Keep on drinking in the dark
And I know you don't gotta keep me still in your heart
But I know I don't wanna keep on drinking
Keep on drinking in the dark

Drinking In The Dark by Balls To Monte [lyrics by Fred Benz]
You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning
Honey don’t you change my credo to a warning
A day that started in air quotes
Ended with a question mark
You danced off into the moonlight
I'm here drinking in the dark
I just don't understand why you
Won't see my blurry point of view
You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning
Honey don’t you change my credo to a warning
A day that started on Rabbit Beach
Ended in the trailer park
You sailed off into the sunset
I'm here drinking in the dark
I just don't understand why you
Won't see my blurry point of view
You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning
Honey don’t you change my credo to a warning
A day that started in air quotes
Ended with a question mark
You danced off into the moonlight
I'm here drinking in the dark
I just don't understand why you
Won't see my blurry point of view
You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning
Honey don’t you change my credo to a warning
A day that started on Rabbit Beach
Ended in the trailer park
You sailed off into the sunset
I'm here drinking in the dark
I just don't understand why you
Won't see my blurry point of view

Drinkin in the Dark -- Starfinger
I can no longer see the mountaintop
for the fog has rolled right in
and i cannot hear the ocean roar
over the noises aroar within me
and i cannot stop my mind from dwelling
on the things that were unfair
but i know a trick
it works real quick
and it fixes the part where i care
i can drink in the dark
i can drink in the dark again
drinking
in the dark
over and over and over and over
again
drinking
in the dark
drinking... again
i cannot smell the flowers
because something is wrong with my head
and i cannot taste the honey
because all of the bees are dead
each step draws pain from the core of the earth
on up through my leg and on up into my brain
but i know a way that helps me stay
safe all day in the folds of my bed
i can drink in the dark
i can drink in the dark again
drinking in the dark
again and again and again
i tried to write
a beautiful song
a beautiful song for the masses
that's when i found out
that art takes time
and probably a couple classes
but the
but the best things
don't need training
or any other innate skill
ask me what i'd like to do
and i'll tell you what i definitely will do
i will drink in the dark
drink in the dark
drinking in the dark again

Drinking In The Dark

Electric bill is sitting on the table with the rest
Been a few months since I was at my best
Drinking warm beer, got no way to keep it cold
Living without you has surely taken its toll
Like a barbed wire fence in a field all alone
Guess I gotta knack for living on my own
But the rain has made its mark on my rusting heart
Thinking 'bout you and drinking in the dark
Dog keeps whining, guess she needs to go out
Rare that she begs 'cause just like me she's too proud
Shoulda paid the bills, now I can't make the call
To tell you I'm sorry and take the blame for it all
Like a barbed wire fence in a field all alone
Guess I gotta knack for living on my own
But the rain has made its mark on my rusting heart
Still missing you and drinking in the dark
It's been far too long since we had a decent meal
The dog is stuck with me, I guess she got a raw deal
I can't help but sit with my head in my hands
But somehow my dog, she seems to understand
Like a barbed wire fence in a field all alone
Guess I gotta knack for living on my own
But the rain has made its mark on my rusting heart

Re: Drinking in the Dark
Drinking in the Dark
I just woke up from the craziest dream
A Hunter S. Thompson scene
I should write it all down
But if I told you what I think it means
Well you’d never believe
You’d run me right out of town
This old body’s not holding up
Its end of the bargain
I’m not looking trim or looking smart
My old friend is cutting back on cutting loose
He’s going so damned slow, I think he’s stopped
Something’s gripped me with a serious hold
I don’t want to grow old
Don’t want to be that guy
But if you slip me my Canadian shield
I’ll refuse to yield
Until the drink runs dry
I just got home from the bench in the park
Guess I nodded off there
At some point in the night, what a beautiful night
I got grass stains on my aching knees
But I don’t need help, please
I can hold my own
Drinking in the dark
Drinking in the dark, drinking in the dark….
I just woke up from the craziest dream
A Hunter S. Thompson scene

Sunspire
drinking in the dark
swallow up the night
eat yourself extinct
melt beneath the light
oh they used to feed warm
in trickles down
romanticized
in the motion pictures
couldn't sate
an empty hole
slick with human wine
bound for the scriptures
drinking in the dark
swallowing our pride
eat yourself extinct
melt beneath the light
oh the sun it flickers
in newfound stress
pinned up to the sky
beating ever spiteful
when does sleep come
a vessel torn
evolution undone by
sanguine disciples
the thirst was a bottomless pit
paid by all to fill
drowning in consumption
pay forever still
drinking in the dark
swallow up the night
eat yourself extinct
melt beneath the light

Re: Drinking in the Dark
Los Vigilantes Oscuros's "Drinking in the Dark"
Verse 1:
In the velvet cloak of midnight’s wink,
Sipping shadows ‘til I barely blink,
Neon whispers in a fizzy clink,
Drinking in the dark, where the ice cubes sing.
Dancing with a teapot, under Luna’s grin,
Clocks tick backward as the room spins thin,
Intravenous whispers of juniper gin,
Administered by twilight, where the pulse kicks in.
Chorus:
Slurping lunar juice from a cosmic flask,
Grooving with the gremlins, on a dopamine task,
Topsy-turvy tipple, in twilight we bask,
Sway to the stars, under masks we unmask.
Verse 2:
Chameleon cocktails, prescribed on the rocks,
Twisting time in a medical paradox,
Sneaky sips from Pandora’s prescription box,
Drinking in the dark, where the doorway talks.
Jazz from a jukebox, injecting the mix,
Melodies mingle in a radioactive fix,
Tip-toe through the tincture of ticks,
Where X-rays illuminate the hidden tricks.
Chorus:
Slurping lunar juice from a cosmic flask,
Grooving with the gremlins, on a dopamine task,
Topsy-turvy tipple, in twilight we bask,
Sway to the stars, under masks we unmask.
Bridge:
Flip-flop through the fog, with a tango top hat,
Jive with jesters, on a chit-chat mat,
Spill your secrets to a blindfolded bat,
Drink up the dark, where the whispers combat.
March with the moonbeams in mismatched shoes,
Echoes dance in the syringe’s muse,
A carousel of spirits, with surgical clues,
Infusing rhythms that the night will use.
Chorus:
Slurping lunar juice from a cosmic flask,
Grooving with the gremlins, on a dopamine task,
Topsy-turvy tipple, in twilight we bask,
Sway to the stars, under masks we unmask.
Outro:
So raise your glass to the ink-black spark,
Where the nightingales sing to the question mark,
Last call echoes in the heart of the lark,
Load up the ark, we’re drinking in the dark

Drinking In The Dark - Hoblit
It's another tequila sunset work of art
Pouring drinks while pouring out my heart
With noone to listen to me fall apart
All the signs say dusk is the end of day
but I know the owner and he says it's okay
and it looks like I'm not leaving anyway
Just ease the empty bottle from my palm
And let me sleep it off until the dawn
When you can cary me away after this song
Or leave me lying in the park
Where I've been drinking in the dark
So if you hear me come stumbling down the hall
or even see me take a nasty fall
I'm not in trouble and of no concern at all
Just ease the empty bottle from my palm
And let me sleep it off until the dawn
When you can carry me away after this song
Or I may need a grave mark
Where I died drinking in the dark
It's another tequila sunset work of art
Pouring drinks while pouring out my heart
With noone to listen to me fall apart
All the signs say dusk is the end of day
