Oh dear.

Another title and challenge intrinsically related - like last week.

Sigh…

The challenge isn't a problem for me, but the Minecraft tie in to the title is stumping me atm. Thinking along the lines of a mob farm being turned into a factory farm? But...idk...

Glad you're fighting through and sticking to your concept. I had planned to do something similar before any titles had been announced, and quickly realized after the Round 0 title and challenge had been announced that it wasn't going to work (probably for the best as my concept/album idea was NOT going to go over well with the Judges/NUR EIN/SF! in general and I wouldn't have made it very far). Heh.

Well I got a rough draft of lyrics, but it's by far the dumbest thing I've written (and I've set the bar very low in the past). If I don't come up with anything better by tonight I'll send it to Joe to mess with. Only give myself 1 day for lyrics so he can take longer with the music.

Fair, but I might give you a run for your money. I plan to have a chicken provide some vocals & there will be clucks in the chorus. ;p

So -I had a song idea

The factory reset was God from Genesis 5:32. Saw he fucked up / and decided to drown every single human on Earth that he (supposedly) created and the song was in the voice of the sad people that were about to drown - then at the end - it changed to the song of a privileged family that God didn’t kill - and they got to go forth and multiply and get drunk and lie around naked.

The first bit was sad. And then it became happy - as the privileged people reaalised that this “God”was a marketing tool God - and not that uncomfortable working class God

But my headphones stopped working

Now itx all too hard.

Well, I've sent something in but had zero time to work on it since Wednesday so you're only getting a half-finished track from me this time. Unfortunately I haven't been able to address the lyrical part of the challenge (not intentionally anyway). Fingers crossed. Good luck to all of you.

I think I just barely made it in… I had a doozy of a time with this one. What with travel and seeing family for the holiday weekend, I pretty much wrote it all today, and recorded it in the last couple hours. Then I realized I was on a farm with spotty reception and had to run around trying to find a spot I could upload it!

I kinda split the mood shifts- the lyrical mood shift is at the bridge, and the musical one is at the end of the song. Hope yall enjoy!!

And if anyone asks, yes, the very end is intentional. It’s definitely a metaphor for how even when you try to reset everything, the malware can still kill you and NOT GarageBand iOS being a butt. ;)

this time i listened in order of length, longest to shortest. i didn't realize before that there is a review template generator. niv!

Balance Lost - nice mood. The vocals in the chorus (?) are very effective. The shift when it comes overstays its welcome somewhat. I wanted less repetition. Is there a lyrical shift to go along with the musical one?

Berkeley Social Scene - the chorus works well. This one reminds me of Niska from Humans. Except that was a girl. And she killed her “filthy man”. Maybe you did too.

Bluechip Ashram - whoa having trouble with those lyrics. Music is interesting.

Brown Word and the Big Whine -this sounds like it is clipping. I like that change around 1:25. But the whole sound is very muddy most of the time.

Cavedwellers - the second verse lyrics are good. Nice guitar solo.

chewmeupspitmeout - i like the tremolo and that synth when it comes in. your rhymes are good. The vocal doubling after the shift is good too.

Cybronica - the bit about the sheep dead upon the floor is good. That bit after the change with the layered vocals is cool.

Frankie Big Face - love the opening, it feels like portal 2. And those guitars are really nice. This feels really different for you and that’s a good thing. “Tomb to the womb” is good. I also really like the mood shift. This is great. The long fade is weird but i think you wanted it that way.

The Friends - there’s some cool stuff going on in the music but i’m having trouble with the lyrics.

Glennny - that’s an interesting vocal effect. Shifts galore. There are things i like about this but the feel is very muddy. This one kinda reminds me of the murderbot which is good.

Hot Pink Halo - interesting, we just started watching bsg last week. I like the vocal bit in the change. Music in general is a bit off kilter.

Kamakura - the doctor bit and the following is a little silly. Weird though.

MechaKarp - the vocals are weird but good. Doubling? Is good. And i like the press reset part.

Moss Palace - sock drawer haha. This one amuses me. I like the shift and the lyrics.

Spintown & Company - the cluck chorus is a little silly. I didn’t realize you could harness that many chickens at once. I do like the alternate usage of factory- egg factory. Also the factory persona works well with the grim reaper character. Not sure about the ending.

The Ujn Corporation - the vocals are weirdly mixed low. The synths are cool.

Vom Vorton - the burbly synth is cool. The lyrical imagery is very good here - the heart and the tower. Good shift.

Hjólhýsi Geisli - NO FILE

The Lowest Bitter - NO FILE

Starfinger - hah, i don’t have to rate anything. But i’ll still review. I already commented on this a bit. It’s interesting these lyrics, they could feel intrudery but they don’t, more like i watch you because i care. I really like the patton-ness of this. The different pieces are so different but work well.

Thanks for reviewing. I'm 100% sure the ending sucked. I mean the idea for the ending I like, but the execution of it not so much. It was just crammed in there & didn't really fit. I should have just ended on a positive note. I just kinda wanted 1 last mood shift at the end, and I forced it.

Thanks for the feedback, Bill. I appreciate it. The answer to the question is no. This is an unfinished track. I was at pains to point this out earlier in the thread and on discord, but I didn't have any days off last week, and while I fully intended to include a lyrical shift in the outro (and edit it down!), unfortunately, I didn't get an opportunity to work on it after Wednesday, hence why the outro goes on for ages without anything happening. I thought it better to send it in and avoid immediate disqualification on the off-chance I scraped through on a technicality. Such is life. It is a little embarrassing to learn I have the longest song in the fight. I'll try and keep it tighter in future!

Apologies everyone. The judges had a tough time with this one and we are still waiting on one missing vote.

I didn’t get to write reviews, but I listened to the songs and I enjoyed The Friends, Cavedwellers, Moss Palace, and Glennny. (I may have forgotten to listen to Starfinger…) I also enjoyed parts of other songs. 😝

Glennny, that’s the best singing I’ve ever heard from you. Well done!
