I've been trying to connect these songs to Minecraft and make some low effort videos for each one. I nixed writing about Steve & his loyal pooch after I saw Ray's post. Instead I decided to write about a farmer who considers all his animals to be his friends. I made an effort to work the title into the pre chorus this time, because even though I'd used the titles in each of the previous rounds, it wasn't very prominent in the last 2 songs. I also wanted to get away from the children's song feel despite the topic. So I wrote this with a pop/punk sound in mind, and Joe of course had to make that work.

After Joe did an amazing job on the music I got Tom Bedlam to provide the vocals as my guest. I'd only worked with him on 1 song prior to this, and it was not for Nur Ein. I also got my friend Zack Scott to do the spoken word outro. I thought he would be a good 2nd guest since he's the reason I got into Minecraft to start with 13+ years ago.

So I asked Gizo to be my guest. I've loved his music for years. We were brainstorming on what the blank would be. One of us mentioned books. that sparked an old memory of my mom saying something like "My books are the best people". We lost her in 1994. I was 22. We were very close. Growing up she stayed in all the time. She was sick most of her life. She also would not be seen without a book in her hand. She would have the TV on, but read a book meanwhile. I'd get frustrated as a kid that she was always too tired or sick to come play outside with me. I think I said something like "Why don't you have any friends? Why don't you have other people in your life?" and that's when she had that response. I did inherit all of her books, and many of them were the books she inherited from her dad. I didn't tell Gizo this, but she was also a piano player. When he suggested and performed the piano outro it was perfect and beautiful and haunting. I'm an atheist, and my mother was not. We basically agreed to disagree, but she did say to me " I'll prove it to you, when I'm gone I'll haunt you." It's amazing working with Gizo, that guy is super talented!

Featuring my pal Winston on violin. Winston is not a SongFighter or related to one, yet here he is... so that alone makes him fascinating. He lives in Vienna, Austria and is the Water Practice Manger for the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank. In addition to helping countries of the world better develop and manage water resources, he has played violin and other instruments for many ensembles, orchestras and bands. Most recently for rockers here, perhaps, he played in a backing band for Mary Timony of Helium and Ex-Hex.

His special interests include river basin management, hydrologic modeling, flood forecasting and management, groundwater hydrogeology, international rivers and transboundary issues, irrigation modernization, water allocation decision support systems, institutional and policy analysis, and adaptation to climate change. Prior to joining the World Bank, he was a Senior Researcher at the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) working on water and climate change modeling studies for river basins in China and California. He also served as a Science Officer at the US Department of State where he worked on water issues in the Middle East (including Iraq). He is currently serving as a technical member of the Water and Society Committee of the American Geophysical Union and serving on the Technical Committee of the Global Water Partnership. He is currently also an Adjunct Professor at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University where he teaches a course on international water issues in development and on the water-energy-food nexus. He holds a PhD and MS in environmental science and engineering from Harvard University.

She’s fairly famous in the opera world, having taught a lot of singers who have gone on to have amazing careers, and she won the Met competition (one of the biggest opera competitions in the US) when she was in her 20’s.
