Song Fight! Live 2024 Musicians Exchange

Post by fluffy »

Yay, we're back in person! ... shit, that means I can't just overdub myself on video a billion times over.

Let's organize our band lineups for the Denver show.

For my set I plan on singing and playing guitar, and I would really like to have keyboard and drums. Bass and backing vocals might also be nice as well.

I am available to help others out with drums, keys, and backing vocals.

I can support you with a polka bass line on Friday night only, if you don't get a better offer.

How about switching it up and playing keyboard?

If there is more demand for drummers than fluffy and Ken want to meet I offer myself as a third-tier drummer option. I don't actually have access to a kit to practice on anymore, though, sadly. The best I could do is listen to your songs a bunch so I know them and mentally prepare, then rehearse a bit on the day at the venue (which is also the rehearsal space). Also I can only offer relatively basic rock drumming skills and no elaborate drum fills and if your song has a lot of complex time signature changes or very very specific things the drums have to do, I probably can't do that. Hope that helps?

While Brookes and I can do a two person version of LW/RG, this is a gathering of Songfighters so it might be more fun to do it with a full band.

I have a local drummer friend who said he was free for the show days and is willing to be a mercenary drummer.

I am still quite available for drums for folks. I'm not confident in my ability to do keys though, my brain's pretty fried post-COVID.

I plan on playing guy and guitar. But I have one song where a backing vocalist may be good. And another where a team of random percussionists may help.

If I’m really going to play the Lunkhead set I’ve been thinking I’m going to play, I need a second guitar player, who can either play lead or rhythm. Ideally it’d be somebody who maybe doesn’t have a ton of sets on their plate already. The songs are not massively complex but they’re not super simple either. There are four songs but maybe I could cut it down to three. There's a fast punk-ish songs, a couple of early Weezer-y songs, and a very 90s alternative rock song. You’d have to really know the songs, I don’t think they’re easily sight readable off a rough chord chart. If anybody is interested and wants to hear the set let me know and I can send you a soundcloud playlist link.

Maybe split it up? I will happily be your fast punkish guitarist - but I probably cannot do the other.

Thanks for offering! My main concern was about wanting somebody to play rhythm during the guitar solos. The pop-punk song doesn't have a solo though. And I am now feeling like, if there is no rhythm guitar during the guitar solos, oh well. I will just have to try to step up and make the solos/soloing more exciting somehow.

I'm willing to offer my services to people. Want do I bring to the table? Some vocal chops. Chord based rhythm guitar fun. Good ol' roots and 5ths bass.

yes! this means we are looking for bass and drums, and backing vocals on one song. nothing too crazy or complicated, I don't think! though our songs are weird, I don't *think* they're particularly hard to learn or play. happy to send them ahead of time including chords, and we'll have copies with us.

I would be totally happy to do drums for you. (And lots of other people too. I haven't gotten any requests for this!)

Oh, also it looks like I'm going to need a bass player due to circumstances, and I could still use a drummer as well.
