Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
We're a hangout, not a music festival. I'd be super concerned about anything that splits the audience or makes people have to choose which group to go with.

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
If you don't know the venue, I recommend using Google to get some information about it. I may be wrong but I don't think it comes with a PA and I'm nearly certain we won't have any staff. We'll be doing everything ourselves. Brainstorming is cool, but otoh if you're brainstorming ideas that require a bunch of work, I would suggest maybe not getting too attached to those ideas unless you're also willing to volunteer and step up and make things happen.

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
Hi all,
I see there are a lot of questions about the venue and equipment, so I'll attempt to answer them all as best I can.
The venue is a big black box with seats and risers looking down at a stage. I will be there tonight for a storytelling event and can take photos or video if that is useful, but essentially the <a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/p/AF1 ... 020">first photo shown on the Google info pane[/a] when you search Buntport Theater is accurate.
-- Two acoustic guitars
-- Electric bass
-- Electric guitar
-- 3/4 sized drum kit
-- Electric drums
-- Soprano ukulele (no pickup)
-- Tenor ukulele (no pickup)
-- Keyboard
Jefff will have to answer the amps questions.
My uke troupe has additional mics/stands/cables, so once I see the board at the theater I will know MUCH more what else we can borrow and bring in.
In any case, I am about to post what I believe is the lineup, so if you haven't told me you are coming, NOW IS THE TIME.

I am hiring a sound person as there is a PA of some sort; again I’m going tonight so The Buntport folks can show me what we are working with already and what I may need to borrow. Sam is correct that we will not have staff from the venue supporting us.Lunkhead wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:23 amIf you don't know the venue, I recommend using Google to get some information about it. I second the kitten's exhortation to get your names on the list NOW. I am considering making a poster...
Also, if you want be listed as something other than the above, let me know.

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
Yeah, at the moment, I have just one electric guitar and amp. I can look into borrowing a second amp, and this might be the occasion to buy an upgrade guitar. The drum kit's a bit ramshackle, but Ken made it work beautifully last time. I'll also be buying an 88-key keyboard to replace the ESQ-1 that was on the fritz that I gave away when we moved. I'm open to recommendations.

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
I'd be happy to pitch in for buying a cheap second electric off Craig's List if that's something that would be helpful. I saw some "Squier Affinity" model guitars for <$200. Then you could sell it afterwards if you don't need it.
Also I have some Vox MV50 mini amp heads, I could conceivably pack one of those if there were a speaker cabinet and speaker cable to use with it. Or there is a line out for those for going direct to a PA/interface. I've used these heads with e.g. the speaker/cabinet from my Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue 1x12" combo amp and they sound pretty good and loud. Here's a speaker cabinet that could potentially fit the bill for the show then be sold for the same amount that it was bought for:

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
I can probably bring a guitar and amp if that's needed. We're driving in and have room in the back of the wife's escape. If this is of interest then I'll list the amps that are available and y'all can decide which one(s) you want.
If we go this route I'll probably go guy with electric guitar instead of guy with acoustic.

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
I'd have to look to see what I've traded but I know I have
A Fender Bassman 10 (4x10 combo, heavy but sounds delicious)
A Fender Supersonic 22 combo
A Fender Frontman 25R (which is very small but surprisingly useful for smaller gigs. It's what I used in Madison. Upgraded speaker to give it some oomph.)
I'll have to look at the stack tonight and get you other details. I know there's a modeling amp or two (line6 etc.,)

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
I do have a floor pod in addition to my actual amp. Gotta work with Leah to get an exact list of what the venue has for us to plug into.

You can now add Lucky Witch & the Righteous Ghost to that lineup. While our bassist and drummer can't make it, Brookes & I will be in attendance.theleahkitten wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 11:06 amThese are the folks I have down as coming, listed in alphabetical order:

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
Alright, I'm including the known maybe in this, but here is the current draft of the lineup/order of acts. The folks who are first have been placed there with their permission. We are still playing with times for the sound person and the practice space, so times are not listed. Also, with 17-18 acts, we are trying to give ample space for the Live Fight on Saturday night, so Friday is built heavier by design.

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
Is it possible at this late stage to also cram in a brief 3-song <=10 minutes Yaks of the Industry set?
4 out of 5 of the "core" member will be there and we'd love to rip through a few short songs. The "big sell" to me for us doing these songs would be to hear JB and Future Boy singing together, I think that would be amazing.

Ok. So leave from work is sorted (you just had a holiday? It’s a rock and roll thing dude…). Flights are cool.
Accommodation? Any tips. Just seems like a lot of big box hotels in downtown Denver. That’s fine - any tips on where there are Simpson style Moes Bars an obnoxious Australian may feel welcome ?
