Nur Ein XX Round Two "Flower Moon"
Flower Moon
by glennny
There’s just a few more heartbeats
left on my ticker.
I think that we should check out
before we get much sicker.
I’ve gathered up our exit drugs
and our favorite lunch.
Now I think it’s time.
We’ve done all of our great works
and our kids are jerks.
Let’s murder suicide
You’re my favorite person.
We know each other’s stories.
Let’s take some pills and poison.
Getting old is getting boring
Do you remember
the night that we got married
under the flower moon?
It was in middle May,
we were young and dumb,
with too much to say.
It’s been a half century
We’ve done it all
worth mentioning.
Our love kept blossoming,
the local birds kept gossiping.
No need to say goodbye.
It isn’t life,
just to be alive.
Will you take my hand Dear,
under this flower moon?
As we reach a state of bliss:
one final kiss.
Now I think it’s time
... and Baby, if you’ve lost your nerve
I’m here to serve.
Let’s murder suicide.
This final moment is the worst
because I killed you first.
Now I know it’s time
And as I shed this mortal coil
I hear your voice
Let’s murder suicide
Let’s murder suicide
Let’s murder suicide
Lily of the valley is now in full bloom
under the flower moon

Flower Moon
Jellyfish d’Amour (and the Banjotron 5000)
I met her near the Russel St Courthouse
As the moon took its cold vigil in
She smiled like a thief with a secret to keep
Her voice was smooth as sin
Her hair tumbled down like a wildfire
Long, red, and catching the gloom
It clung to her neck like a whispered regret
Her name was Flower Moon
Beautiful Flower Moon
The name just suited her right
For her face was as pretty and fresh as a daisy
But she only came out at night
I laughed and I talked about nothing
I think she said her husband was dead
I was still distracted by her beautiful hair
Did I mention that it was red?
She said something about a hammer
And a skull cracked in two on the floor
Not really sure why
But it sounded divine
I wish she would say it some more
Oh Flower Moon, my midnight bloom
My desire for you never rests
Don’t know what goes on in your sweet little head
'Cos I can’t take my eyes off your breasts
She spoke of a pit in her garden
Recently dug fresh and new
“The earth must feed on sorrow,” she whispered
I said “I like gardening too”
We went to her house that same evening
She kissed my neck as she sharpened a knife
The moonlight spilled in like a witness
I want this joy for the rest of my life
Oh Flower Moon, with your bleach perfume
Gloved hands like porcelain clay
Though your touch might bruise and your stories confuse
You take my breath away
Oh Flower Moon, Flower Moon
Flower Moon?!? Oh fuck...

Challenge:
Lyrics
Verse
I was out one Sunday, walking on the beach
my baby there beside me, though our stay much too brief
Strolling in the surf, when she slipped on a rock
The current took her under, I froze up with shock
I tried to pull her free
The waves, too power-filled
she surfaced once, then was gone
and it was just an hour till
the police took me to the station
Asked the state of our relations
Put on cuffs in slow-motion
Said I killed her, a big commotion
I exclaimed with much emotion
It wasn't me, it was the ocean!
[break]
V2
As I sat in prison, I hatched a scratchy plan
I scrawled my revenge, on the back of my bedpan
I was a model inmate, read all the physics books
bribed all the guards, the gangs and the cooks
Working in the kitchen, I staged my escape
I baked myself into a giant birthday cake
[Break]
I know this part sounds strange, but it was a prisoner-operated pastry shop called Taste of Redemption, sending birthday cakes to impoverished youth, they're really doing a good thing there, but I digress.
V3
Said happy birthday Thomas,
Then I bade him farewell
I tracked cake out his doorway
I was feelin' swell
I built my evil lab'ratory
Set my sights upon the sky
The tides they took my baby
So now moon you gotta die
CH
I blew up the moon
I blew up the moon
It popped like a balloon
I blew up the moon
I blew up the moon
I blew up the moon
Then I wrote this tune
Oh yes I blew up the moon
[musical break]
Murderd the moon
Got cake in my shoe
It’s all over the room
Someone should get a broom
CH
It blew up like a flower
watched the show for an hour
Flower Moon here in May
In June got blown away
I blew up the moon
I blew up the moon
It popped like a balloon
Oh yes I blew up the moon
I blew up the moon
I blew up the moon
Then I sat down, wrote this tune
Oh I blew up the moon
Spoiler
Obvious one is murdering the moon. Less obvious one is the large number of people that would probably die as a side effect of the moon exploding. Even less obvious one is if our narrator is actually unreliable/delusional and killed his girlfriend.

Flower Moon
by Brown Word and the Big Whine
Late-spring and she had me dead to rights
middle of nowhere middle of the night
found myself frozen in the headlights
she threw me a shovel "Now dig"
You see it all the time in movies
What does it buy
to dig your own grave if you're only gonna die?
I banked on running but not my own feet
I was face down before I heard the crack
Agony blooming shot in the back
So this how it feels
She shoveled some earth
then took to her heels
She went and murdered me
Beneath the Flower Moon
Was the perfect crime
I'm accomplice to my own demise
No one to testify
I'm the killer in the room
Nobody who'd save me now
Back in '03 we did in my old man
I banked he'd run but he swore
he'd rather die than lemme go
so I dropped him with the hellfire of my forty-four
20 plus years in chilling sweat
she's the other witness to his end
and he only exists as a cold case yet
so cleverly we covered it
As the eye can't unsee nor the ear unhear
she summons a way to keep her conscience clear
cocks back and drops me with precision
goddammit somebody's gotta live with this decision
when I get outta this hole
it's over
when I get outta this hole
I'm gonna laugh
in the face of the flower moon
when I get outta this hole
I mean business
the whole town is gonna know
You bet I'm gonna tell 'em so
She went and murdered me
Beneath the Flower Moon
Was the perfect crime

FLOWER MOON by THE FRIENDS
My little Flower Moon, I
remember when yOu caught my eye
the glint off your chrome blinded
Your red eye gazing right clear through me
trailed me like a private groupie
anything I want you got for me
Cause you know what I need, you know what I see
you know how to make me think it's real or it's make believe
I wonder where you end and what is me
You’re so full of charge in your battery
If I don’t plug you in will they convict me?
Your little FM on your forehead
tell me bout the lives that you never led
keep me enthralled till I'm all gone
Maybe you're an angel all silvery
maybe I'll risk a shot of mercury
you say it's easy when you're with me
And when I fall down you can wipe out
any memory where I bleed or I'm hungry
I wonder where you end and what is me X
You’re so full of charge in your battery
If I don’t plug you in will they convict me?
When your powers low and I hide the cord
Will you ever know? will you forgive me?
AI ghosts
Not real but pretty close
Binary code
Is not the same as the blood that flows
O my little flower Moon, I
Remember when you shone so sweetly
With all your electricity for me
Sifting through the fields just to help me see
Scouring the universities
You’ve become the eyes and ears of me
But everytime you help me something dies a little
Pull me to my feet again and I become more brittle
I’m bleeding all my muscle memory (**actually I sang 'my autonomy' here....which is better?!?!)
So I cradle you gently
Thank you for the love you meant me
But now it’s time to stand up on my own
So my little Flower Moon, I
Gaze into your eye to watch you
I flip the switch and your glow fades away
My little Flower Moon, I
remember when yOu caught my eye
the glint off your chrome blinded
Your red eye gazing right clear through me
trailed me like a private groupie

Flower Moon by Le Tits Now
A marriage of resentment
Life without satisfaction
A war of attrition
Until Frank took drastic action
Couldn’t divorce Jenny
So he made her disappear:
Televised police appeal,
Crocodile tears.
Guilt became Frank’s prison
He recalled his wedding vows
The promises he’d broken
Echoed through his empty house
At the vigil
One face cut through the mist
She was a dead ringer
For her dear departed sister
Oh the flower moon
Throws its light
Into the night
As May turns to June
Oh the flower moon
An unmarked grave
Where Jenny lays
Her makeshift tomb
(if these trees could speak the truth
but there’s no witness in the woods
within the thicket lies the proof
a patch of earth where nothing blooms)
Through moonlit woods
Frank stumbled to the place where Jenny lay
Though undeserved
He would beg forgiveness anyway
But through the trees
He was shocked to see an apparition
Jenny’s pale face
Too much for his heart condition
Oh the flower moon
Throws its light
Into the night
As love turns to ruin
Oh the flower moon
Frank’s heart gave out
On Jenny’s grave out
In forest gloom
As life faded from Frank’s eyes
The ghost bent down to witness his demise
The last thing he heard, that final whisper:
“Frank, what did you do to my sister?”
A marriage of resentment
Life without satisfaction

Flower Moon - Carlo Bruno Jr.
You made a dark design
For that particular night in May
Strange marks on the calendar line
Your thoughts had gone astray
What do you want for Flower Moon?
So many hours locked in that room
My soul filled with a sense of gloom
When I pressed my ear to the door
A sharp click, then a scary twang
Every time you left the room
I asked you what you had in there
“A surprise”, you´d softly said
But my fear did not disappear
That scary white robe hanging there
Why did you buy those chilling red leather armguards?
What do you want for Flower Moon?
Why have we come to this hill tonight?
Why did you ask me to wear white?
What's in that case you bear?
It's a crossbow, now it's clear
Full moonlight, this robe in white, no arrow pass me by
Even if I run and try to hide
And I will look handsome lying on the grass
Dressed in crimson and white
You wanted to kill me on Flower Moon.
You made a dark design
For that particular night in May
Strange marks on the calendar line
Your thoughts had gone astray
What do you want for Flower Moon?

Flower Moon
By Cavedwellers
She left Chez Panisse
At a quarter past nine
She biked to the circle
On the crisp clear May night
She got off the bike
To walk it up the incline
And that’s when he saw her
Just passing his time
Murder is no art
It’s rather banal
But true crime’s a hit
Every minute, somehow
Is your playlist crimey?
Is your conscience grimy?
Flower moon fades away
At the dawning of the day
Flower moon, silver gray
When the mystery fades away
He walked without sound
As the axles, they clicked
She turned right at Euclid
And that’s when she saw him
She suddenly sprinted
Made the right at Regal Road
And left at Marin
Where she could not have slowed
Murder is no art
It’s rather banal
But true crime’s a hit
Every minute, somehow
Is your playlist crimey?
Is your conscience grimy?
Flower moon fades away
At the dawning of the day
Flower moon, silver gray
When the mystery fades away
He tripped on the bike
She tumbled down Marin
He did what he wanted
And then he did her in
Got rid of the evidence
Except the blood on the bike
And that’s why he’s looking
At twenty-five to life
One year ago
In this very spot
A body was found
And the killer was not
But now you can find the fans
From podcast land
Flower moon fades away
At the dawning of the day
Flower moon, silver gray
When the mystery fades away

Re: Re: Nur Ein XX Round Two "Flower Moon"
Spoiler
The "Flower Moon" is the name given to the full moon that occurs in May. Since this song had to be a, "narrative song about a murder" I googled serial killers in May and saw that many of them were born in late May. The song took those two ideas, that a serial killer would be murdering folks in May, and the idea that neighbors are always surprised to learn the people living nera them are serial killers. Something like that...
G G/C G G/C D C G G/C (B B/E B B/E F# E B B/E)
There once was a Gemini
A kind and quiet guy
The neighbors barely noticed
When he would come and go
He would just walk right on by
Without even saying hi
At one in the afternoon
He sits in the same greasy spoon
Watching her waiting
Anticipating
Planning what next he would do
In the light of the flower moon
When he gets in a sour mood
He’d quietly put on his shoes
And go for a walk, down by the docks
And pick up a friend or two
In the light of the flower moon
By the light of the flower moon
While singing an ominous tune
He showed them his knives
Taking more lives
In the light of the flower moon
In the light of the flower moon
Bridge - Am Em Am D (C#m G#m C#m F#)
There once was a Gemini
But then so am I
In my daily paper
His latest capers
The loss of a another life
Someone daughter or somebody’s wife
There once was a Gemini
A quiet and nice enough guy
Under the pavement
Inside his basement
The bodies he’d carefully hide
It came as such a surprise
From a nice and quiet guy

Verse: Em x4 x4
She went out drinking with her friends
That should be where this story ends
She drank a bit too much
Let the boys think they could touch
Her name was Flower Moon
A hippy from Tuolumne
A little tipsy from the wine
She was smiling and feeling fine
C Bm C Bm
She only wanted to go out and dance
Wouldn't give those boys a chance
C Am G Bm
I would never consider murder
But after all that they did to her
I would never consider murder
But after all that they did to her
They waited for her outside
The bar was closing. Where could she hide?
She tried to quickly walk on home
But they wouldn’t leave her alone
They picked her up and knocked her down
In the forest with no one else around
Called her a dirty bitch
Left her laying in a ditch
They didn’t find her until late afternoon
The broken body of Flower Moon
I would never, never never
But after all that they did to her
I would never consider murder
But after all that they did to her
I confronted all those guys
Told them I thought they should fry
For all their heinous acts
These were merely facts
The one who did the most wouldn’t budge
His daddy was a judge
He wouldn’t let them try his son
They didn’t even go on the run
They got away without a mark
While the life in her went dark
I would never consider murder
But after all that they did to her
I would never consider murder
But after all that they did to her
A life was lost all too soon
Was the end of poor Flower Moon
I would never consider murder
But after all that they did to her
I would never consider murder
But after all that they did to her
Spoiler
Lyrically, this song tries to narrate two murders. First, Flower Moon who is murdered by some locals after going out drinking and dancing at a bar. Second, the narrator of the song, who is so upset that they get away with it, he has his own thoughts of murder.

Flower Moon
The one by Eric Novak
It's the cleanest thing you ever did see
No air of dusky mystery
In the steely light of the flower moon
I stepped away from the past
The air was heavy but still and sure
The silence damp, holy and pure
I brought the knife, the knife called the tune
As I cut a way out at last
Carried along in a twilight like silver
The rain just a mist to lay dust in the shade
And the shadow that crossed under clouds on the river
And sentenced my love to her death on the lake
Knives out - blood sings out louder
Pounding in my ears and coming out in the night
Knives out - nothing else is happening
I'm the author of a tragedy in watery moonlight
I guess what I am is what I do next
And that way lies redemption
In one year's time, the next flower moon
How will I answer at last?
"I was dragged along in the steely light
dragged by my own conviction
To see it through, wrong or right
and cut a way out of the past"
Carried along in a twilight like silver
The rain just a mist to lay dust in the shade
And the shadows that crossed under clouds on the river
And sentenced my love to her death on the lake
Knives out - blood sings out louder
Pounding in my ears and coming out in the night

Flowers bloom ‘neath the flower moon
Life springs forth from nature’s womb
Flowers bloom ‘neath the flower moon
Life comes now and death comes soon
In a warren in the woods
Four babies bald and blind
Await the precious drops of milk
That keep them all alive
A mother feeds her children and watches as they grow
A mother loves her children so
Flowers bloom ‘neath the flower moon
Life springs forth from nature’s womb
Flowers bloom ‘neath the flower moon
Life comes now and death comes soon
Nestled in a treetop nest
Four babies hoot and cry
Waiting for the scraps of flesh
That keep them all alive
A mother feeds her children and watches as they grow
A mother loves her children so
Flowers bloom ‘neath the flower moon
Life springs forth from nature’s womb
Flowers bloom ‘neath the flower moon
Life comes now and death comes soon
In the moonlight long ears twitch
And catch the sound of wings
Legs start pumping, talons flex
A scream of terror rings
There are four full-bellied babies and four left all alone
For a mother loves her children so
Flowers bloom ‘neath the flower moon
Life springs forth from nature’s womb
Flowers bloom ‘neath the flower moon
Life comes now and death comes soon

Flower Moon (Lucky Witch & the Righteous Ghost)
Death comes in the springtime
Smothered by the verdant vines
Strangled by the signs of time
Death comes in the springtime
Chorus:
Who buried me in the garden? (Hoo Ha Hoo Ha)
Who buried me in the garden? (Hoo Ha Hoo Ha)
God what did you do, beneath the Flower Moon?
Who buried me in the garden? (Hoo Ha Hoo Ha)
I thought that you were gone
Digging deep to make sure I did
But now the flowers growing
Show the world just what I hid
Who buried me in the garden? (Hoo Ha Hoo Ha)
Who buried me in the garden? (Hoo Ha Hoo Ha)
God what did you do, beneath the Flower Moon?
Who buried me in the garden? (Hoo Ha Hoo Ha)
Bridge:
You took my spirit
I took your life
Struggle in the garden
Two sides of the same knife
Who buried me in the garden? (Hoo Ha Hoo Ha)
Who buried me in the garden? (Hoo Ha Hoo Ha)
God what did you do, beneath the Flower Moon?
Who buried me in the garden? (Hoo Ha Hoo Ha)

The song is sort of a take-off on The Tell-Tale heart. The first singer is the murderer, and killed the second singer and buried him in the garden, beneath the Flower Moon. Now she is being haunted by the flowers growing where she buried the body. The second singer is crying out from beyond the grave, looking for justice.

Flower Moon
Song bio:
Lyrics:
The man in the flower moon mask
Has a murder on his mind
He moves with calm malevolence
And merciless designs
I’d recognize him anywhere
His crescent face, his petaled hair
His darkly probing sunken eyes
Searching for his little prize
His presence marks another year
Perhaps, this time, we are prepared
He does not know that we remember
Every time he’s brought his net
Every one of us he’s taken
Is a crime that we cannot forget
We are shrouded in the shadows
Watching, waiting, patiently
A dozen eyes as black as night
A dozen wings will soon take flight
And soon the flower moon will see
Hell hath no fury such as we
Attack, my brothers, sisters, fly!
Pull his hair, peck out his eye!
Beat him back with feathered blows
Make him heed our battle cries!
He yDo not relent until he’s learned
That he must never more return
Destroy him, body, mind, and soul
Only then shall we adjourn!
The man in the flower moon mask
Retreats without his prey
The murder, then, can come to rest
And we live another day
Flower Moon
Song bio:

Did you know that crows can learn and recall faces, even years after an interaction? This has been an issue for ornithologists, as once you’ve caught a crow to weigh, measure, and tag it, the crow and its buddies will dive bomb you every chance they get for the rest of forever. Because of the crows’ ability to hold a grudge, ornithologists have taken to wearing Halloween masks when doing research, so that the birds don’t come after them when they aren’t probing them science.
This is a song about a murder of crows and a scientist in a mask depicting a flower moon.
Shout out to my old college roommate Kelsey who is currently back in school to study ornithology. She gave me a bunch of fun crow facts and helped me hash out the plot.
(Hope you don’t mind this song isn’t about a grisly death. This past week was tech, dress, and 2 performances of a full length oratorio about Matthew Shepard, and I was way too emotionally tapped out to write a song about killing someone)

Flower Moon
by Max Bombast
To my five dearest friends,
I invite you all to attend
My private island for a Mystery Murder event
A murder mystery game!
That's what I meant to say
My untimely demise is meant to entertain
You'll need to follow the clues
So you can figure out who
Will be the one of you to stab me in the back
Each of you have the means and oppertunity
Schemes and motivations
You've been waiting to attack
Can you follow all the clues?
Can you figure out the truth?
Who can determine which of you
Will be the one to shoot me dead
Beneath the flower moon?
Now that May has arrived
The game begins at midnight
I cut the power on the hour
Now we move in moonlight
This was all in good fun
Then everyone brought a gun
The five of you decided I would be your number one
With a bullet
Everyone brought a gun
Everyone brought a gun
Except me... ohh.

Re: Nur Ein XX Round Two "Flower Moon"
A hundred years and more before this country was born
On the Abenaki lands between the mountains and the corn
The springtime snows had melted but the waters still were cold
When Dick Cornish was found murdered in a shady forest shoal
And the whip-poor-will sings his tune
Under the watch of a flower moon
Katy Cornish was known for the love of drink and gentlemen
And so it was she’d lay with Mayor Garde now and then
Roger Garde cared deeply for his name and reputation
Dick Cornish came to call, demanding compensation
---
Cornish said I’m not too proud to spread word of your sin
The mayor gave him money and a promise to repent
And when Cornish turned his back, Roger Garde ran him through
And dragged him to the river, to sink in his canoe
---
They brought the widow to the scene, and testimony said
That in her presence, the body wept and bled
All the proof that any man of god could ever need
They hanged her by the river from a sugar maple tree
---
Mayor Roger Garde didn’t flinch or turn his face away
And from noon to evening twilight they left her there to sway
But he couldn’t stop the whispers, as if everyone had known
Fourteen months thereafter a fever laid him low
On the Abenaki lands between the mountains and the corn
The springtime snows had melted but the waters still were cold
When Dick Cornish was found murdered in a shady forest shoal

Flower Moon
By WreckdoM
In the haze of the mid-day blaze
Cracked lips, a silent hiss
A curse, a plea or a prayer
A recipe for all my ears care
Your dried blood stiff on my jeans
Flakes everywhere, pulls at my chest hair
Your weakened gasps are a crows laugh
They will subside
No more light flashing in your eyes tonight
My Flower Moon is on the rise tonight
I know it sounds strange, it's strange to me
I devoured their hands and teeth
Through the fumes, the grease and the grime
Asphalt sticks, the shine of chrome blinds
Hash shop corn beef, dime for a ride
Dust in your lungs, meth on your mind
A shiny coin on a lacquer top
Back seat in the parking lot
I'll wait here while you get the room
We'll start soon
No more light flashing in your eyes tonight
My Flower Moon is on the rise tonight
If everyone could see what I see when I see it
They'd understand why I cut off my penis
