J$: The mix is kind of dirty and farty but in a good way. Vocals sound good. The Gregorian chant backing harmony vocals on the chorus I like but make me kind of dizzy. Kind of short.
BSS: From the opening notes it made me think 80’s pop rock. It’s very tight, well done. I’m almost wishing for a little more oomph from the vocals to match the dynamics of everyone else, like having them doubled or harmonized. Ok now I’m hearing some harmony vocals. I just wish they were more present in the mix. Guitars sound great! Bass and drums sound great! Vocals sound good too. I like the discordant ending. You guys always bring it.
The Reverend: It’s cool in a Lou Reed post-VU kind of way. The drums sound a little canned but the Reverend sounds great! I like how it doubles up with harmonies on the chorus. Yeah, the vocals are giving me a Lou Reed vibe.
MK: Sounds ok but the autotune is off putting for me. I’m betting you don’t need it.
Steer the Ship: Love the guitar tones! Is that off a mic or DI? Vocals are really good too. Like the BSS song, it’s really tight and well put together. Cool little keyboard lead in the bridge. Really good! Nice job here.
DC Prox: It builds nicely. It has a good Smiths/Cure like quality and vibe to it. This sounds really good.

Tell Me What You See reviews
Berkeley Social Scene: Fun poppy tune and great performances. Vocals seem tentative but I like the falsetto at ends of the verses “You keep me guessing…”. Overall it’s very muddy, which makes it hard on repeated listens. I prefer the outro guitar feedback solo to the mid song solo, which is below par.
DC Prox: Nice set up. Love the mood and the pace. Doesn’t resonate much beyond the production.
Johnny Cashpoint: Love your layered low fi tunes. The initial pattern of fourths is great throughout. Fun stuff!
Mk: I love your voice! This is sweet. It’s a little spliced together and there’s some treatment (pitch correction) that seems unnecessary. I’d like to set some simple tracks to this if that’s ok.
The Reverend: I started with some ideas from googling quotes that start with “what I see is” and it took me to an overall “what’s so fucked up these days and wouldn’t it be better to chill a bit and reflect more on where we are?” But don’t read too much into this. I liked the rhythm loop and how it fit but ultimately want to replace it with real stuff. The rest is all guitars.
Steer the Ship: I like each section but it sounds like a bunch of separate pieces stitched together well, rather than an organic whole. Excellent vocals, nice changes. Clean production.
