no pun intended... I love that movie and the posters that went with it. When I saw that title the movie was the first thing I thought of...

Oops, yeah me too. I guess I meant to say "influence" vs. "pun". It's great.

Courage

Post by Gemini6Ice »

I'm totally digging the cowardly lion art for "Courage," Duncan. I'm not sure if his coat matching the song color this week was intentional or not, but it just made it even better.

Looking forward to seeing other takes on "Satisfaction". Morbid's is quite thoughtful (if she ever gets around to submitting it), and, well, mine is more of the usual rabid absurdity, heh. Next week, "Kitten Juggling". Or not.

What could possibly be more thoughtful than people who throw other people as a sport? Possibly the people who allow themselves to be thrown should rethink this pastime. WEEEEEEE!!!! And my cover art, boohoo girly eating disorder angst at its best. I like it.

Not awesome, it's trickery, trickery I tell ya. Many hours ( ahem minutes) went into the other submisions and they were shut out, SHUT OUT! An outrage. It may be the black butte porter talking but I smell conspiracy!! Conspiracy!!

I've had this running concept going with Spud that I could get all 3 covers done in time for a while now. It just happened to be this week that I was able to create 3 decent covers within a short amount of time. I'll admit "satisfaction" is a bit of a stretch but it came out ok. I am really happy with how my "crossroads" came out even though I was unable to mix in a Britney Spears reference, probably because I didn't even try to do that. As for "Spinal Tap" I have had that white tape around for years with a mix of SpinalTap and the Dead Milkmen on it. So I thoought I would try to mix it in to the art.

It should be noted that borwein is taking this week off, so he will not be in ANY of the fights. Take your best shot at vanilla, this week only.

Considering the fact that I have all 3 covers this week I should take off 3 weeks... :D ... but I won't. I'm just off this coming week, due to family coming into town for a visit.

...and me having already used the dwarf tossing art. Damn! Not that I could've tied that in with "Policy of Rape" in any case.

Nice hat trick, Bort'. I'm just jealous, heh. Enjoy your time off!

fwiw...
Marcus Kellis's take on Crossroads, and Satisfaction. I don't know if Bortwein came up with his after I came up with mine, but I came up with mine independently of bortwein.

Yeah, mk. I was working on my "satisfaction" art before I saw your ice cream cone art. It was right after I submitted my art into the index that I saw yours.

I realize now that sarcasm doesn't transfer well on message boards. I was being a smartass. Honestly, Bortwein, your art rules. The styles and concepts you have covered in your stint with songfight is impressive. I don't really do the cover art to "win." (Although if I beat out Rabid, it's an added plus.) I do it because my graphics job is as about as creative as the knock off "got milk?" posters. So anyway, Bortwein, enjoy your week off, and everyone else, dwarf tossing is just wrong.

Actually, your sarcasm was brilliantly executed and appreciated, at least by me. I simply wanted to used it as a jumping-off point to let people know that all three fights are fair game this week.

I look forward to another several minutes of your work, sir.
