Courage
Courage
words by john f. kennedy*
music by jack shite
without belittling the courage
with which men have died
we should not forget those acts of courage
with which men have lived
the courage of life is often a less dramatic spectacle
than the courage of a final moment
but it is no less a magnificent mixture
of triumph and tragedy
the stories of past courage
can define that ingredient
they can teach
they can offer hope
they can provide inspiration
but they cannot supply courage itself
for this each man must look
into his own soul
a man does what he must
in spite of personal consequences
in spite of obstacles
and dangers
and pressures
and all that is the basis
of all human morality
the stories of past courage
can define that ingredient
they can teach
they can offer hope
they can provide inspiration
but they cannot supply courage itself
for this each man must look
into his own soul

Courage
by Luke Henley
The whispy whispers in the whispy wind.
Oh, the whispy whispers that I thought came from a friend.
When your star has fallen and you can't come back around,
soaking up the dirt and the rocks like a worm in the ground.
Have courage
glory be
you don't see me.
And oh Tacoma, there's a way that you look at my eyes.
You know that it makes me forget the way that you have your hand atop his fuckin' thighs.
And have courage
glory be
but you don't see me.

Courage words by Andy Balham music by The Big Smokes
Saw you first at a secondhand meeting
Leaving with somebody else
Saw you next, but it was only fleeting
Never thought I'd see you again
Bridge
Now the brave get favoured by fortune
And carpe diem is uttered by some
They don't see the downside
And that's what's sure to come, but...
Chorus
How I wish I could tell you
How I wish that I could
But I've got no guts and it means too much
And my only courage is Dutch
Now you're back and hanging around town
I should make a move
But the film in my head keeps getting me down
Just too much too lose
Bridge
Chorus
Five years later before we meet again
You've three children to your name
I get the feeling you could have been the one
If only I'd played the game...
Chorus x2

Courage
You've seen the vision
The course is charted out
Made your decision
But still you fight the doubt
Can't lose another minute waiting for help
You won't get what you need from anyone else You've got to
Look for the courage to convince yourself
You've done the good thing
You've done the only thing
You sent the message
You had the bridges burned
No time for guesses
No option to return
Can't lose another minute waiting for help
You won't get what you need from anyone else You've got to
Look for the courage to convince yourself
You've done the good thing
You've done the only thing
And now you're all alone and looking for help
A thousand miles away from everyone else You better
Look for the courage to convince yourself
You did the good thing
You've seen the vision
The course is charted out
Made your decision
But still you fight the doubt
Can't lose another minute waiting for help
You won't get what you need from anyone else You've got to

If I had the courage
man, I would've stuck it in a little box a long time ago
if I wasn't such a Basketball Jones
I might be going home back to a home instead of just a little house
if you have the courage or not
'cause we're out getting on
to the same place in the end and there's nothing no one can do about it
and if you could lend a hand
yeah I'd give you ten fingers and ten toes back if you had the courage to
oh baby you've had it coming for a long time now
you know they don't come this white, not quite often
if I could put on your clothes, if I could walk in your shoes
you know I might just have the courage to
so take a number and get back in line
you'd think some people were raised outside of civilization!
and there's a hundred and one ways to have a bad day
and there's at least a hundred and one to have a damn good one too
well how about you? some say you're screwed
well what are you gonna do?
man you've had the cunning for a long time and it's time for me to have mine
the right move could be in any direction
and if you put on my shoes, and walk these streets like I do
you might be able to find some kind of courage, too
you might know what it feels like to get so discouraged here, too
(walk these streets like I do, put on these shoes)
don't matter if you have the courage or not
'cause we're all getting on to the same place in the end, and there's nothing you can do about it

Remiss:
I've always been pretty confident, been pretty cocky
But this chick was kinda different, like Adrian and Rocky
My courage had never left before, never like this
Felt like Miles Standish/ with a slight twist.
This wasn't Colonial history, this was 2-0-0-5
And I wasn't an army captain, I had just learned to drive!
My head was all scrambled, like a young kid's K'nex
So I talked to Tactless, he told me what to do next.
He said:
Tactless:
It's not a big deal, it's like a trip up to Fresno
Nothing bad'll happen, you won't die if she says no
Remiss:
It seems like a bad idea, like bathing with a toaster
Say Tactless, wanna help me make a poster?
So we made a big poster with paper and paint
I looked at our creation and began to feel faint
It struck me, I was nervous, feeling anxiety
Butterflies fluttered by, all up inside of me.
Tactless:
The poster got done and it looked pretty sexy
so we tossed it in the car, closed the door, and next we
drove to Remiss's house, he went to pick up flowers
he came home, got dressed up, and then we killed some hours
He got a phone call, it was the right time of day
So I shook his hand, wished him luck, and sent him on his way.
Remiss:
I drove quickly to the house, didn't want to be late
I had in tow the poster, the flowers and some tape.
Hung it quickly on the garage, as the time was running out
No danger of rain, it was a clear day and sunny out
Hid behind the nearby wall, waited for her to drive up
Heard her car approaching, crossed my fingers that my luck
Was as good as usual, if not it would sure suck.
She pulled into the driveway, I let her read the sign
Made my way around the wall, didn't trip, took my time
Kinda gestured toward the poster that was hanging on the wall
Then I gazed into her eyes (Cuz she's really really tall)
Handed over the flowers, a smile broke on her face
"Yes," she said, as she gave me an embrace
My stomach settled back into place again
And I learned that you've got courage, as long as you've got friends.

Courage - Kamakura
I’ve watched you from afar
For a long, long time
Laughing, joking, smiling with our friends
And I fell
Fell in love with you
The way you are
The who you are
But you will never know
I see you everyday and it tears me apart
That I love you so
And you don’t know
But it’s better this way
‘cause you might say no
And tear my heart apart
You might say no
And leave me in the dark
You might say no
My life would surely end
But I don’t have the courage

courage
by matthan minster
on top of this soggy sad town
where people drown in what's around
i can't forget the world
and people take this poison pain
to feel ok with everything
bite down on my tongue
i can't breath
i can't escape
until i feel that courage in my veins
and it's ok
inside my broken body
my heart beats faster than it should
feelings betray me
and all the things i give away
i never wanted anyway
i don't feel sorry
i can't breath
i can't escape
until i feel that courage in my veins
and it's ok
the sky is covered in a cloud
ease my awareness for a while
peaceful slumber
and all the images are blurred
words misspoken and misheard
nothing matters to me
i can't breath
i can't escape
until i feel that poison in my brain
i feel insaine
and its ok

Courage (from a failed AAD)
by Puce
Listen up y’all, this isn’t a test
I’m making a withdrawal, so get under your desk
And just lay there a while, ‘cause I got some questions,
Gonna play along? Any written objections?
Anybody here wanna be a hero?
From the looks of you’ll, no, I didn’t think so.
Money in the bag and the bag on the floor
Look away from the masks while I make it to the door
Anybody here could probably stop me,
Courage is all you would need,
Anybody here could probably stop me,
Courage and you’d be set free
Now here is the part where you say what you want
You get one free call, Regis; Gonna dial the cops?
I am unarmed; you could take me yourself,
But everyone’s a coward, only think about their wealth
Everybody lying on the floor looks stupid
There’s one of me, ten of you look stupid
Your big baby seal eyes look… kinda cute, but
Everybody lying on the floor looks stupid
Anybody here could probably stop me,
Courage is all you would need,
Anybody here could probably stop me,
Courage and you’d be set free

I know i know it's not in the fight but you can hear it, and the story behind its non-appearance, in the review thread, should you want to and i think you're gonna need these this time out ...
Courage by X-Tokyo River God
everyday i pray to no one
for the courage to continue
i run endlessly in the infinite courtyard after your thoughts
and here in the dim twilight incessantly i dream
Give me the courage
To turn the tables
Overcome my conscience
Finish what you started
my heart stops beating every time your voice i hear
(he took the mirror of my trust)
my desire for your skin giving me the courage
(threw it from the 10th story window of our apartment)
Get up and get on with my prayers
(watched it fall like an angel drifting)
my prayers to no one for the courage to continue
(watched it break like a raindrop landing)
loped slowly down the stairs
(job is half-finished)
gathered all the pieces
(There's more to follow)
stared at a million refractions of my tears
(I have found courage in other's terror)
then i scarred him with the fragments of my love
