Alright, I think everyone on our list has taken a turn, or else was asked and said they were unavailable. This means we're ready to start over. I'm taking this week.
So let me know if you are uninterested in/unavailable to contribute further, so I'll take you off the list. If I don't hear from you either on this board or via PM, I'll leave you on the list and you'll get drafted again.
Also, it would really help out a lot if those of you who had to decline could let me know if you're back in or still out. I'm not capable of keeping track of everyone. Thanks!

Will there ever be a last? Does this have any finite boundaries Jim?j$ wrote:I hope Roymond gets the chance to go last - I got the feeling a) his would be totally tremendous and b) he would be the perfect man to wrap it all up. just call me psychic or something, but i get this vibe ....
(briefly toyed with the idea of making comments along the lines of "...I don't care who comes last, so long as J$ isn't coming right behind me"... but I thought that may have been construed as being tacky...)

I do like a good end ).(
It can start again but there should be coherence to this, otherwise the project lacks logic ....
Off-topic - Jim, your avatar always shows up on my list of blocked cookies, as being from a 'restricted website' - both at home and at work. I don't know why that is (or why a jpeg should have a cookie associated with it).

Personally I'd really like to hear Roymond follow up from my entry - I think he'd do a great job of it. So I hope you re-passed the baton, Jim... :)
j$: Any HTTP response can carry a cookie payload. It's pretty common in banner ads, which is why Netscape has had a "only accept cookies from the originating site" thing for years. Some websites are configured to poot out session cookies on every item, which is totally broken (though technically valid) behavior and cache-unfriendly (not to mention only useful for tracking specific visitors).

This isn't the end. I had planned to end it on December 31, so that the entire work was for 2005. I'm not going to do that, but yes, there will be an end. This week's entry is the last entry in round 1. We are starting over with round 2 next week, which will be from me. I'm going to ask the same folks to contribute again (but not necessarily in the same order, which I couldn't do even if I wanted to, since I've forgotten who did what now)
HOWEVER, there's a new wrinkle. Going forward, everyone's entry must contain a quote from a previous segment, and it can't be from your own previous segment. The idea is to give the piece a little shape. Up to this point we've got a whole ton of terrific musical ideas, but now they need to return so the piece doesn't sound so much like a medley as it does now.
This quote must be obvious. You can't say something like "These two notes here refer back to the two notes at 5:23" because no one will hear it. The spirit of the rule is that the listener should be able to notice that it's a repeat of previous material.
After that there will be a round 3, with another wrinkle that I'm not telling, then it will be done.
Man, getting around to splicing the pieces together is one of those things I keep not getting around to. Soon, I promise.

Halfway point!
I have finally caught up and compiled all the latest 4-5 songs onto the Song Fight Orchestra creation. It's now 12 minutes long!
Go check it out. Link is in my signature.
I assume since no one wrote me (except one guy who wasn't in it anyway, strange) that you're all still in, even with the added complication. Here is my current list of participants:
Jack Shite
Leaf
The Voice Inside Your Head
Carol Cleveland Sings
Freddie Love
Caravan Ray
Johnny Cashpoint
Poor June (??)
Jim Tyrrell
Hip Cola
Glenn Case
Tonetripper
15-16 Puzzle
Me$$iah
Eight Legged Oedipus
Fluffy
Roymond
Starfinger
PEOPLE WHO VOLUNTEERED BUT COULDN'T DO IT WHEN ASKED FOR WHATEVER REASON OR ELSE I FORGOT TO ASK IN THE FIRST PLACE
Jon Eric
Abecedarian
Sober Irishman
Southwest Statistic
Das Werkenhorse
I would greatly appreciate a PM from everyone indicating:
* if you're still in
* which song you contributed already (I lost track)

What ever is this thing you call a "list"? For the record:
a) I've never heard of them
b) I thought the arrangement of artists that have contributed in the above posting adequately accomodated the issue
c) a more creative use of bullets may facilitate the ergonomic perspective of the controversial aspect of this event
d) I like wine gums.
I'd be in again, but not any time in June... or August... or November.
Let's skip May as well. May is too busy.
You know, I don't think that I can disguise which tune was mine, so I'll just mention it here. It's the one that I sing on. Can't remember the title.
Think it had to do with... uh... damn. What song was that? Prep School? I think that's the one. Jim, I wonder if you'd consider the use of a database to manage this issue? Many talented indviduals could assemble such a profound assistive tool for your timely dissemination of date sensitive requirements to the appropriate individuals involved in such a monumental endeavour.
I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about.

I just Googled "list" and read up on it. Interesting concept. I ought to try one of those. "database" is way beyond me. Let's start off with "list".
(OK, so I had a list, and it lists everyone, and then some people would say they couldn't do it and I failed to note that on my list, thinking "oh, I'll remember" and of course I didn't and now I'm all fermuggled up. I also didn't write down who was doing each title. Jim congruent to idiot.)

I would like to do another one sometime when I have time and the titles don't suck. The only title I've liked in the past month is Feet.
Deep Throat has been exposed, how about the guy that writes the song fight titles?

The Songfight titles are made up by Barbara Eden, former star of "I Dream of Jeannie". I thought everyone knew that.
