The oracle gazes into her crystal ball, and predicts who will perform the titles. The mysts are clearing...
Satisfaction...I see...an octagonal thorn. Is there an octothorn here?
Spinal Tap...There is a man with a dollar in his name. He holds a guitar in one hand and an invisible trophy in the other.
Crossroads...The sounds he makes come from a humming box with crashed windows. He is a captain upon a small island of strange folk.

crossroads was originally a mid 80's blues movie starring ralph mocio... about an old blues harmonica player trying to get his soul back, very good movie... i thought it was a tragedy they stole the name to make that shitty shitty britney spears movie...

Crossroads was also a British Soap from the 70's and revived in the 90's. It was set in a motel (in those days rare in the UK), had wobbly sets and a theme tune written by Tony Hatch, who now lives off the royalties of his big hit, the 'Neighbours' theme tune... Another useless bit of trivia.
Satisfaction is the one.

Yes, bring back Benny.
If you're buried at a crossroads, it's meant to mean you'll come back as a devil. It is also at a crossroads that Robert Johnson is meant to have sold his soul to the Devil in return for mighty blues licks. I also believe it has some connection to Jimi Hendrix (but I might just be thinkin of 'Crosstown Traffic'.)
and in answer to Kapitano, I am probably going to give this week a miss (time for a break methinks) but if I do enter, it would be in Spinal Tap. Spooky. Can you tell me how well I'll do, to see if it's worth the bother of me entering??

indeed, it may be cheesy at times, but its one of my favorites, when i was like 10 i used to watch it everynight while going to sleep (yes i'm sad). How can you beat ralph machio fighting for his and his mentor's soul in a shred guitar duel with Steve Vai? Seriously, it can't be beat.crossroads was originally a mid 80's blues movie starring ralph mocio... about an old blues harmonica player trying to get his soul back, very good movie... i thought it was a tragedy they stole the name to make that shitty shitty britney spears movie...

never heard of this, but could be.
This is the legend. Its actually what the ralph machio movie above is loosely based on. I reccomend getting the Robert Johnson double disc set, its got everything he ever recorded. It is also at a crossroads that Robert Johnson is meant to have sold his soul to the Devil in return for mighty blues licks.
You must be thinking of crosstown traffic because I've read quite a bit about jimi and never heard of anything like that. Jimi was a blues fanatic though so maybe he made a reference to robert johnson at some point (which i'm sure he did whether documented or not) and thats what you're thinking of. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Jimi sold his soul at the crossroads. That would make sense.I also believe it has some connection to Jimi Hendrix (but I might just be thinkin of 'Crosstown Traffic'.)

That's because I mistyped - and it should be 'back as a vampire' ... it apprntly has something to do with the fact that they used to hang people at crossroads in days of yore, and the legend built up from there.supernipple wrote:If you're buried at a crossroads, it's meant to mean you'll come back as a devil.

This is why the blues is so awesome. If he had swapped his soul for, say, all the best emo chops, then we'd call him a sellout, but for the blues this is something you gotta respect. Maybe goth too, but not so much (too obvious).j$ wrote:It is also at a crossroads that Robert Johnson is meant to have sold his soul to the Devil in return for mighty blues licks.

Really? I thought it was the other way around, that they buried the remains of the slain vampire/witch/generally cranky & evil person at crossroads so they wouldn't be able to find their way back to take revenge on their executors. Guess it's time to go back to the ol' reference shelves and, errr, bone up on this.j$ wrote:That's because I mistyped - and it should be 'back as a vampire' ... it apprntly has something to do with the fact that they used to hang people at crossroads in days of yore, and the legend built up from there.

don't worry in 80 years or so mississippi delta emo will have its heyday. i agree though it might be 100 or more for old school goth to become legendary.bzl wrote:This is why the blues is so awesome. I am in for 'Spinal Tap' - I took a persona challenge of making it as unfunny as possible (I thought I'd leave that up to others with a better sense of humour) - however as an indirect result, it is quite funny. Maybe you'll see what I mean. Getting some odd crackle on the vocal recording at points but I'm leaving it in for the mood.
Also I believe Hoosenbergler might be returning to 'Crossroads' - well, at his request I laid down some backing vocals for it; so we shall see, I guess.

After the hellish, unproductive month of May, I am in THREE collaborations this week. Father Bingo and I did "Satisfaction," Cameron Jasper of The Drinks worked with me on "Spinal Tap," and Hope Oath and Suspicion is back for the Bryan-Adams-goes-folk version of "Crossroads."
Time to rest.
