Mine's finally in. (Sorry it sucks so bad. But at least it's better than the original.)

link to bolio's song doesn't seem to be working...
ditto for noah m's song...
ditto for dan-o
on the songs where the original version was on songfight, could the "original artist" column be filled in with a link to the original songfight song?

Noah's is missing, that's the link he sent.
Ditto for dan-o.
If somebody digs up the originals and lists the URLs in order in this thread, i'll stick them in the fight. Left to my own devices I may not get around to it.

Erm, resent the email to covermaster@songfight.org, as I'm not seeing my entry on the coverfight page. Pretty please to be adding my entry?

Bolio's Elvis in Space was not entered in the fight but was linked to in the review thread.
I am enjoying this very much so far (listening as I type). I hope JB has the time to link to the originals, as mine is really a progress report rather than a song I stand by as representative of my music tastes, if you see what I mean ....

Some short reviews. Written as I listen. It occurs me that I don't remember any of these first time round so it's like listening to them afresh ......
Me is me - I tried to choose the song I was least happy with and bring it up to date. Either this or Lavender Splendour - and I was always unhappy that I used some Blue drumloops to such awful effect on the orginal so here it is (without the loops and with a totally new arrangement) - the harmonising is still a bit sloppy, but charmingly so. This is still about Gram Parsons.
King Arthur – I don’t know the original (or don’t remember it) but damn your voice sounds sexy on this one, KA. Really sweet vocal take.
The Hell Yeahs – My favourite songfight song of all time didn’t really need re-recording, but here it is equally perfect, only faster ….
Feldspar – very Dylanesque – Bullseye Girl before my time …. I like this in a sloppy poppy way.
Bolio – Link’s not working, man
Landfills – very New Order start. No very ‘This Corrosion’ SoM when the vocals kick in. I like this a lot because I like the niche groove you’ve got going on.
Noah – Link’s not working, man
Jack – I like the original of this. I’d like to have heard you take on ‘Bad Attraction’ instead – I think the vocals are mixed too quiet (you got a great singing voice – show it off!) but I appreciate the mood you’re going for. Cute fairground organ going on.
Bill/Craig – I like this – I think the relentless drum machine could be removed / slowed down to give the cool melody more room to breathe. Other than that the sparseness appeals and it’s a sweet melodious core that the song is built around. I don’t remember the original but if it sounded much like this, it should have done very well indeed.
Dan-O – Link’s not working, man
FreddieLove – I should remember this, but I don’t. Great late 80’s/early 90s intro. Nice telephone filter vocals. I could imagine this in an Echo & the Bunnymen stylee. Lacks some bass end, but that might just be the headphones I am listening on. I love this tune. Sweet. I am not sure how different it is from the original – if this is a vast improvement on the original, it’s getting my vote for best cover. I will check it out and let you know….
SOS – my review from somesongs = “Typically all the good stuff happens in the second half of the song. this is too live, not arranged nicely enough. If you're gonna power-chord then it should be a nice tone at least .... still, pretty pretty melody and singing ... quite gay in a helmet way
“ My opinion hasn’t changed much – you are hippies with amplifiers, for sure, but you are my favourite hippies with amplifiers … I think I am in love with your bass player, mind ….
Fluffy – way before my time, of course, but I have always loved Fluffy stuff since discovering ‘Sunny Again’. That has become my benchmark (which will probably print me as a ‘fairweather fan’ no doubt’) I love this. I would like some more weirdy noise ambience in the background – nothing too heavy – just to contrast the b’n’g element of this. Cute lyric. I like it when you whine
So far I am voting all these good. Because they are. Will come back once links are fixed for the others.

Thanks J$. Actually the orginal doesn't exist on SF since I never finished it. I have a backlog of songs that went unfinished, so I picked this one out to see what I could do with an extended period of time to work on the production skills.
