The sound of gasoline engines and the hustle and bustle of a city sidewalk.

Too much listening to other tunes = less original ideas to write new ones. The jukebox in my head plays other peoples stuff instead of my own new ideas. ARGH.

billy corgan - thefutureembrace

a myspace prerelease. i'm actually surprised at how good it is. i haven't liked anything corgan's been a part of since mellon collie and the infinite sadness, but his new album is pretty good. some of it is almost my bloody valentineish in instrumentation. the only thing that sucks is his voice is still annoying. but whatev.

The Decemberists are awesome. I got to see them in concert a few weeks ago. A good time was had by all.

However, my current fav is Manitoba's (whose name has since changed to Caribou) album Up In Flames, which you can listen to here.

"Jacknuggeted", "Bijoux", and "Everytime She Turns Around It's her Birthday" are my personal favorites

I'm not quite sure what the big deal about the Decemberists is. They're mediocre and boring in my opinion. I have "Castaways and Cutouts" and "Her Majesty" and found both very average. I'm told "Picaresque" is much better, so I might have to check that out. But I just don't understand why the Decemberists are so widely liked.

GOD FKIN ARGH AGH WTF CANCER. CANCER=SATAN   :x

Was currently listening to Kings of Leon (My fav song "Trani") and then I get so pissed thinking about cancer now I have KoRn cranking. Follow the Leader (what a great album title).

15 mins later: coming down off the anger with Led Zep's "Since I've Been Loving You"

Well, I don't have the other ones, so I can't say if that's true or not, but I definitley like Picaresque. "The Bagman's Gambit" and "The Mariner's Revenge" are particular favorites of mine.

I like them because they have a sense of storytelling in their music. Too many famous groups simply pick an emotion, and write a song about it. Love, sadness, anger, whatever. But, at least with Picaresque, they're actually stories set to music. So it ends up having a bit more lyrical depth than what I usually find.

Today's been an aggressive mix of Big Black's Songs About Fucking, Death From Above 1979, and Squarepusher. And it is so good to hear it.

I listen to Jack Shite EVERY DAY.

He comes up about four or five times on my shuffle... it's great.

I recently moved offices...or should I say cubicle? I now have a view (mountains and ocean as compared to a dirt road and a parking lot) ..I have more privacy...and I can listen to tunes ALL DAY without disturbing a soul... fuck ya.
