Burning Man

Post by jack »

i know it's not until august but is anyone else here thinking of going this year? i've been talking to future boy who is planning on going with moboid (we may all ride out there together). i'm getting my tickets this week. tickets can be got at http://www.burningman.com. it's steep but well worth every penny.

i have friends that have a "band camp" called "the hair of the dog lounge" (pics can be googled i think) and they have a full stage with PA and amps and all kinds of gear available to use. the bay area's own connie champagne even did a set with these guys.

if enough people show up, we can have the first songfight live burning man.

so if you're going, or thinking about it, say something.

I've been meaning to go for the last 3 years. If I can make it, and don't get booted out at the airport by the somewhat over zealous Homeland Security, I'll be there.
135 days and counting.

It always look like fun, Im digging the art theme this year, psyche, you can probably bet on some wierd lovecraftian influenced art in the Unconcious section. And most likely more than one section of art bordering on child porn in the Subconcious section.

Anyone bringing drums? They want to book me to do rapping in center camp some evening (or afternoon or who knows).

what kind of drums are you looking for specifically? i have friends that will have a band themed camp (the hair of the dog lounge) that i'm sure could lend drums if needed. they will have a full kit in their camp.

i'm sure i could hook you up if needed.

also, future boy, moboid, and i all plan on attending.

MC Frontalot plays Center Camp at Burning Man? That sounds like something I wouldn't miss for the world.

a little mini kit would probably do it... kick, snare, hat. Maybe a tom?

we could run a couple songs at dog hair camp and then do 'em up in center camp. Someone want to learn some bass parts? or pretend to?

hell yeah, i'm all up for it. i'll keep you in the loop to our travel/camp plans front. if you could do the same, feel free to PM me where you'll be camping or any other info you want to share.

there's a very good chance i'm going up to the Playa this coming weekend with that group (some of them are in the BRC DPW) so i'll talk to them about what is available drums and instrument wise. also, they are all pretty good gigging musicians so i'm sure we could drum (literally and figuratively) up some support. also, they've been keeping the hair of the dog lounge structure in a storage facility up in gerlach the past year but this year it goes up in flames! woot!

i'm pretty psyched to go to the Playa this weekend. and i don't have to drive. fly geyser!

tomorrow evening, future boy, moboid, and i will pile into my little red truck and make our way towards this thing called burning man. if anyone else happens to be there, look for the hair of the dog lounge, home of the all night open mic jam. you may find me or us playing there at some point in time over the next 5 days or so. or look for some guy from austin living in a plexiglass cube.

hope to see you there.....
