Yes you are probably quite right. Have changed the list to reflect his typical Aussie disrespect ;-) unless of course he changes his mind....?

November 30th is totally do-able for me. I really have no idea how to put this up, though, so I'm nominating whoever says "I'll host this" first after this post to take care of that. Also, deadline is totally flexible because I really couldn't give a shiiiit about punctuality. Also, I'm still doing "New York Minute." Don Henley is the Eagles as far as I care. Plus it's only right that a Henley cover a Henley (jesus I hope I'm not actually related to him).

I just bought space with godaddy but have no site yet....yes I know thats back to front, but should have the space to host if someone will help me with some basic web design stuff...Hoblit, JB, anyone? I have have Frontpage 2003 just no time to learn it :-)

And delighted you confirmed that you still are going to do New York Minute, cos it is an awesome anthem.

I call victim of love, but I reserve the right to change my mind.

Please make this due in long enough time for me to save up money and buy myself working gear so I can take part.

Thanks so much everyone who's a) shown interest in this weird little project of mine and b) offered to help host the thing! Much thanks, and we'll let details sort themselves out as this progresses, eh?

and mayhaps I shall... I am a tad paranoid about committing to a tune 100% right now... I'm working long days , 6-7 days a week, and packing in the evening in anticipation of moving...

but maybe so...

I'm curious, what type of cover is everyone thinking about doing? Straight forward? Completely re-tooled? I've got an idea for a completely rocked up version of the song I'm doing working in my head right now. I was just wondering what everone else's working ideas are.

My mission is to destroy the original and to prove that I'm the better Henley.

wait. isn't your name luke henley??

at least that's what I thought.

If I do the apparently moslen twins one, I 'm sure it'll be a deconstructionist thing, but If I also do already gone (kind of a fantasy concept right now...bu t hey..let's pretend) it'd be a fairly straight forward cover. I just really enjoy that tune.

My evil plan is to add lots of extra guitar doodling and a completly original bridge, I would like to add a verse too but nothing interesting lyric wise has come to mind. Who knows - Im off of my old 12 track now, and have joined the world of computer based production, so maybe I can add some production dodads as well. Anyone know where i can download a doodad plugin ??

Just to clarify, Luke has indicated Nov 30th would be a good final final deadline. That give people lots of time to experiment/rework/change their mind and procrastinate to the Thanksgiving holiday then suddenly record in 24 hours :-)

ok, then I'm definitely calling "Already Gone"...and I'm sure I can help out on the J$ track if need be...

...of course, this is getting reminiscent of the "prog fight" that never happened though... YYZ has turned into ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

That sounds cool Pegor, but I would like an official ruling on this. Anyone opposed to altering the song in this fashion? E.G. adding lyrics and chord changes that weren't a part of the original song. My plan was to re-work the style of the song while maintaining the original framework of chords and lyrics. Thoughts everyone?

my impression of coverfights are anything goes, nothing's official, and no apologies are ever necessary.
