Suggestion for the next coverfight...

Post by ken »

I don't mean to jump the gun, but this has been floating around my head for a while now.

Total Request Coverfight

I suggest that once everyone is in, a list is made. You then pick your three top choices for who to cover you and what song.

for example:
Ken's SDBnS
15-16 Puzzle covers Why Are You Making Me Kick You Out?
Glenn Case covers Please the Pig
Boltoph covers Dirty Chucks

Covermaster then picks who does what and assignments are made.

I can see that the biggest problem might be that everyone wants (insert your favorite songfighter here) to cover their entire catalog, and someone has to have (insert your least favorite songfighter here) cover them. Any ideas to make this work?

Just an idea.

Well, people sign up and once we know who all is participating, then everyone goes through and makes a list of which song they'd want each other person to cover. If you have fewer songs than there are participating bands, then you make as many lists as you have to until you've used up all the participants. Then covermaster picks from all the lists, possibly at random or pseudo-random.

Okay, another suggestion: Like jb said, everyone makes a complete list that includes the names of everyone else in the fight, and the corresponding songs of yours that you want them to cover. Every person must order their list, so that their most wanted choices for who will cover them are at the top. Lists are placed in a hat, or something that looks like a hat. Pull out a list, and that dude gets his top pick. Pull out list #2, and that guy gets his top pick, unless it's already taken, and then he gets his second pick, and so on down the line. Repeat, until every person has been assigned the highest still-available name on their list.

Lists could be made public or not. I don't know which I would prefer.

Well, I take it back, I think that ordered lists should be sent to the covermaster, and random lists could be posted by the people in the fight. I'd hate to see that I was at the bottom of like every list or whatever.

If this takes off, erik is duly appointed Covermaster Pro Tem.

I'm mostly unavailable for music-making until like, November.

I think I'd be in this.

I also think it is quite likely that Starfingers More Than Soup will be at the top, or near the top, of every list. Just a feeling I has.

Except that it sounds like each person's list contains only their own songs, and who they want to hear cover them. So only Starfinger's list would have his "More Than Soup" in it. Right? Or am I totally misunderstanding this?

Anyway, count me in.

Lunkhead yes, Sausage Boy no.

You would pick other people from the coverfight and assign them your songs.

Ken

edit: So in JB's version, you would assign everyone a song, so then the covermaster would have a lot to choose from.

I'm always in the original flava coverfights. So, like, I'd be in.

This is a good idea BTW, Ken. I say public, so I can turn red with rage and shame as everyone puts me on the very bottom of their list.
