the vote is already cast in your name Mr. Cashpoint! Off the top meant from the start of the song...maybe it just took me a few bars to get into the feel of your track, that's also possible. I'll send you a pm with some mix suggestions along the lines how I might have approached it.

Please do - mixing is not my forte! Always want to get better - it's still a bit hit and miss, use the most appropriate presets type scenario

One can listen without reviewing. Hundreds of people do it on Song Fight every week. It was reviews that were requested.

Yeah, it was the stating of the fact that smerched me for a bit - i.e. 'we are here because Spud was whining' - I wasn't suggesting any of you up there don't listen to the songs as soon as they're posted each week. Hey, in my role as quisling, i've witnessed it happen ...

Plus I was trying to start a fight as requested by Jack, because there hasn't been a good ol'fashioned review-thread-ruining slag-a-thon for a while. You should have seen the post before I edited it!

I do find it slightly patronising that you find the need to start a fight just because Jack asked you to. Not because you relished the though of virtual fisticuffs or anything ... sheesh ...

Hey fighters - Mad Dog of # here! I have never posted on the new improved board! Wow! Look at all the space for storage! And the view! The view is terrific! And the corner room next to the pantry will make a great nursery when "that" time comes! FYI - I dug # "fax machine" the most! I told Marcus Kellus it was like throwing the meat against the wall! He didn't know what I meant by that and I guess I don't either. Yes - my phrasing certainly could have been better but I only had time for one take as I had to get to the Easy Street for an important engagement. What I loved best about this song was having my friend Barry do the chorus. Barry has not sung on an # song since the 2nd SF entry we did back in 2001 - "A Thousand Swords" - and perhaps you can tell why! Ha ha ha! Okay - that's all. You all take care now. Love, Mad Dog

Captain Synth
There's really nothing that is clever about the lyrics in this song, if we can call it that, but the delivery kind of makes me mildly smile. It's alright for such a weird title, but I'll never listen to it ever again.

Flying Brick
Well there's not much in here that has any substance. The tones are alright but just repeating the title over and over does not do anything but make me feel utter boredom.

Jesus Barbed Wire Suicide
The first song I've heard in this fight. I like the lyrics in this to a certain extent, but I keep hoping for a more clever display for such a weird title. The beep, beep, beep thing is kinda stupid and I don't quite understand how Poltergeist works with all this. That being said I like this for some strange reason. It's hooky. Potential vote.

The lyrics are the best of this fight so far. "The toner is full and the copies are clean" is a good hook. I'm not sure how I feel about becoming knowledgeable about your office fantasies j$.

The mix and instrumentation has a looseness about it that's kind of cool, but I wish there was more presence on the guitars. It all sounds a little far back. Favourite of the fight. Possible vote.

Menbah
The surf groove is pretty cool. "And now your days are numbered Fax Machine" is a great chorus moment. I think the delivery of the vocal could have been put a little more over the top especially when you recite the title prior to the solo. I think you could have gone for a bit more drama. That would have really sold this song for the title for me. Potential vote.

Octothorpe
There is something quite surreal about the mighty #. The strange kid's voice or pitch-shifted voice kind of gets under my skin. Bass tone is sweet. As a tune for the title I'm not sure how I feel about this one, which is not to say I don't like it, but more that I am ambivalent about it. It's very trippy, but I had a heck of a time trying to understand the words.

Steve Durand
This really does sound like Sesame Street in many ways in the instrumentation (especially the horns). I find that the vocal seem to be reading from the lyric sheet which sort of leaves me feeling as though you don't mean them. Also it seems slightly out of range for you to sing. I'm not a fan of your voice. It sounds tight and closed. Song's ok, but kind of plods along wreaking of beige.

This isn't a stellar fight in my boat. My vote is going to J$.

It was my favourite part of the tune to be honest with you. I love weird FX like that on voices. The world feels like it's on helium. I checked the lyrics and that does make things a lot clearer.
