Sounds like fun, unfortunately I can't organize this one, but I can help out someone else who is willing.

Ken and I have discussed it, and we feel the next west coast live show shoudl be the SADDEST SONGFIGHT LIVE OF ALL TIME. All emo, all sadcore, all bitches. (Example: Fluffy '99 = OK. Fluffy '05, not OK. Mo pre-china = OK. Mo post China = not OK. Drunk JB = totally cool. Mean JB = stay home. Eric circa "Someone Wants To Date You" = right on. Eric circa "World of Screens" = tooooo peppy.) Note to Brother Machine and SoS: We love you guys. You are totally not invited. Note to Yook: you are the headliner. Bring your ex-girlfriend.

Love,

pfm and Ken!

I am out in ... cough ... Ontario, CA Nov 10 - 12. Who's around LA in the evenings? Anyone gigging? Gotta catch the red eye back to NYC Saturday night, but up till then things can happen.

Yes, the Portable Media Expo. You?
And this Monday I'm in DC giving a presentation on podcasting at The Nature Conservancy, perhaps helping them put together some programs.

BTW, the bandied-about dates are fine for me and I'd be happy to join in, especially if it's all sadcore and stuff. Also I will very likely be in Palo Alto sometime soon (possibly next Wednesday thru ???) for those in the area, on a business trip. Details as they emerge.

I don't live that close, but I've been there one or two times. It would really be a cool place for the show. They're becoming one of the more popular places for singer-songwriters to play in LA...

Seems like they're booked up pretty good for a while, so we'd probably need to book something pretty far in advance.

Agreed. It just doesn't seem like we have a lot of "bands", so an acoustic show would be more appropriate, and if we could find a venue to host it would be nice. Any ideas?

What about piecing together impromptu bands as per usual? It might still work, though probably only if you two (Ken and Ethan) are willing and able to split the drumming duty. We'd probably have enough other folks to fill in on guitar and bass, especially if we get some more out-of-towners. I'm willing to play bass or guitar in every set if necessary. ;) If we got that set up we could at least have sets by Loyalty Day, KNI, Stateshirt, PFM, and Gus/Abecedarian. Sean, what's the status of your band?

I'd prefer somewhere with a piano, or if someone could provide a weighted controller. If I'm gonna do sadcore I gotta do a few songs on piano.

It's been pushed back to next Monday, and I don't think it'll involve more than one day there. So, probably no time to do anything social. Oh well.

[edit] Never mind! I'll probably be there until Wednesday! And I might be able to swing it that I show up Sunday instead. That'd be cool.

Mein band ist kaput. A magnificent and almost total implosion. I'd be doing an acoustic set.
