I wouldn't be so sure. I'm guessing that they don't call him "Sausage Boy" because he has a fondness for bratwurst.

Long story short:
- internet broke
- comcast has fixed it
- got songhole acct info
- midterms over (huzzah!)
- will upload live fight audio later tonight (after kung fu, ethics, cake night, in that order)

As regards to video, some sets have one song that is clearly the best recording/performance/writing/whatever, but some sets have choices, and I may ask you which you prefer be used for the video. If you have one in mind already you're welcome to send me a message. More on that tomorrow.

Also I'm sorry it's taking so long, and thanks for bearing with me.

Oh the joys of trying to learn stuff what I don't really know. Today's episode: FLAC compression. I downloaded a utility which compressed my 600 meg AIFF into a 380 meg FLAC. That was the "best" setting, as opposed to "fastest" which I assume means less compression. The other file went from 140 meg AIFF to 124 kilobytes, which baffled me until I realized that it contained 15-20 minutes of silence. This further baffled me. Anyhow at some point I dropped the whole FLAC thing and just went with .mp3. The live fight in its entirety is located here:

I should mention that this is over an hour of continuous, unedited audio, and is contained in two files (the only ones present).

Just a reminder, I only have the names and addresses of eight people so far who want a copy of the video. Now that finals are through my goal is to have everything basically finished by the end of the month, and start sending them out first or second week of January.

General question for everyone, concerning the possibility of subtitles: if I can figure out how to add them as an optional feature (turn on/off from a title menu), should I? Depending on how complicated it is, it could take an extra day, or an extra week. On the other hand, lyrics can often be hard to make out. So speak your mind, and if anyone has experience doing this in iDVD let me know and I will pick your brain.

HERE IS THE LINEUP OF SONG CHOICES, including information that I need from some performers about song titles and the like. Band names are taken from the poster, if you want me to use something different or have special formatting requests (no capitals, no punctuation, etc.), now would be a good time.

1. Fluffy Porcupine
Your best options are either "Alright Alright" or a song that I don't know the title of; chorus goes "I don't need this kind of attention / please don't show me your affection / I don't want you to always tell me / how you think this was meant to be". The vocals are a little clearer on "Alright Alright", pitch is occasionally shaky; the unknown song sounds like the ending went awry (although personally I think the result sounds cool); "Alright Alright" is ~2:30, unknown song ~4:00. I will use whichever you prefer, and if you have no preference I will use the unknown song.

2. Charcoal
Judging by the great audience reaction I think it's gotta be "Please The Pig". I also was thinking of using parts of "Die For Me" behind the credits or a menu (e.g. scene selection/title/audio setup), if that's okay with you.

3. Hoblit
You, sir, have several choices. "Watch Your Face" was good all around, "Bad Dreams" was good also but pretty short. "Not This Time" has a flubbed chord, and also ends inexplicably on a plagal cadence, but no real problems. If you have no preference I will use "Watch Your Face". There was also this sweet B7(#9) chord that you played in between songs, while tuning or something. I almost wet myself.

4. The Landfill
"Mumbo Jumbo" features WAY too much octagonal dance floor action to even consider another track, in my opinion... but it's only about 2:00 long. "The Blue Signal" is fine except for Fluffy dancing in front of the camera during one verse, so that's an option, too. An option for the INSANE.

5. Loyalty Day
There are lighting problems during "Crossroads" but the audio side of things is fine. "The Jig Is Up", "Motor Psycho" and "Hey Ruth" are all fine, although "Hey Ruth" ending not as tight as the others. The announcement about pizza? That rocked. I totally ate some of that pizza. "What's In It For Me?" is the strongest of the set, in my opinion, but I'll go with whichever you prefer.

Like I said at the beginning, I'm not charging anyone money who was at the show. I am happy to take donations, but I'll wait until everything is in the mail before I pass the paypal hat around. Especially as everyone is broke just before Christmas.

That unknown song is "Paper Cuts and Spilling Guts," and would be my preference.

I wouldn't go crazy on captions, though right now I am imagining an Octothorpe sing-a-long with "follow the bouncing ball" and it is a hilarious sight. Someone should do that up as a flash movie or something. I'd pay good money (*) to watch that a few times.

I would like to get a copy of the finished movie, but, heck, I can probably just stop by your house one day when you're not there and break in and steal it.
