incidentally when were people thinking that this event might happen? Is it hypothetical or is someone on a mission?

I'm not exactly on a mission but it would be cool. Probably at this point it would have to be after the holiday season, so January or February. Should we pick a date? Maybe to coincide with a holiday weekend or something?

our new guitarist just moved back to SJ from LA and was a big rock-man-about-town down there, so if we could get un-un-invited from this, that'd be sweet.

excellent. I have less than a year or so before I leave LA (destination unknown) so I'm actually looking forward to at least one show before then...

Yeah, I don't think we were ever serious about this being the saddest songfight of all times. SoS is invited as always.

The usual place? Are we talking about a concert here at Sound Arena, Lunkhead? If so, I'm emerging from the murky depths of hell and I can call the guys there and arrange it.

Last time it was my great pleasure to host it and many songfighters chipped in a little sum'n sum'n which made the remaining costs emminently bearable in light of the great amount of rocking that was done.

This time I'm a little more strapped so if I get enough definite nods to back me up financially I'll get things rolling (~$300). Nine other backers with $30 to spare?

Yeah, I was thinking of Sound Arena. I can chip in >$30 for the venue if we want to split it fewer ways.

So, people who have expressed interest so far:

So, if someone sort of showed up (I can't plan that far out right now), would they get a piece of the rock? I'd be happy to chip in.

Yeah and the last time State Shirt showed up his was a good set.
You're more than welcome, roymond, planned or no.

The support seems to be enough to get moving. Would you guys like me to call Monday and set it up? Did you like the arrangement last time, with practice room for three hours (4pm-7pm) and showcase for five (7pm-12am)? Any suggestions about that or anything else?

That date is fine by me. I would also like to claim Saturday May 6th as the next one after that. Mark it on your calendars!

Gosh, it'd be fun if I could catch a plane out that way and have a birthday party (the 5th) in songfight! style. Since most of y'all were nice enough to come out to my little show this past summer, and all.

Incidentally: If anyone out there has access to one of those double-neck guitars, let me know. You know, the combination six and twelve string dealies. I wouldn't mind paying a little bit to rent one for the weekend, if someone could point me in the right direction. Assuming I can find the time and money to get there, of course.

Yes, all manner of evil ideas are happenin' up in my otherwise unoccupied skull.

Oh, pencil in Ross Durand, Seamus and Evil-E.

I'll send up the Bat Signal for them.

With the heaviest heart I post this reply...

Feb is actually very bad for me now. I am moving to Las Vegas for 4 months for a TV show, and I believe that my move date is Feb 1. This is not set in stone yet, but in all likelyhood I will be getting this show off the ground come SFL:LA3 time and unable to attend. I'll keep you guys posted, since you know that missing a Songfight in LA is like missing the birth of a would be child for me and I will do everything I can to there.

Chris,

A plane ticket from LA to Vegas is like $40. I think with your massive TV dollars you could handle that. Anyway, leave your key under the mat and change your sheets. We'll need a place to crash.

I'll hold off reserving the rooms until we find a way for everyone who wants to come to make it. Would there be a better time for you pfm, the week before perhaps - Jan 28th or 29th? And what does that look like for everyone else? Or was there a specific reason yuo suggested Feb 4th, lunkhead?

Actually, why not have it in Vegas? There's a lot of cheap venues there off the strip.
