Will Design For Food - Art Art and more Art
From the top:
Since it seems that I suck at being a songwriter, and in an attempt to fit in so I can give back to the group in the only way that I can... I am willing to donate my Graphic Design Skills to any that need it. Design seems to be the only thing I have left to give and you can't have my drums.

I'd be willing to Design:
Album Covers/CD/Sleeve Inserts
Flyers
Web Graphics of all types
Song Fight title graphics
and I will consider anything if you ask nicely.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just wanted to make a little note of the those people I need to get art for, so you know I have not forgotten about you. Right now I'm in the middle of a life/work mess, so my mind is all over the place.

Sober: I have to be the most late on this out of anything. I must say I'm sorry for letting your album cover slide so long. I promise you I will get back to this and then I owe you big.

mkilly: DONE! Glitter & Twang Logo - 2 Options

redcar: pixeltee...DONE! find post below.

eddie: you know, but I don't know. I'll PM you sometime with a touch base thingy.

Dylan Nau: I'm excited about this project, but I have a paying project for a website that is going to be driving my web time for a week or so. So it might be delayed, but I'll have a much better idea of what to do for you after I'm done. I'm still excited. Oh and I started something, but it got pushed aside due to work. Sorry.

If I seem to be missing anyone please let me know and I'll see what I can do... man this got messy quick.

I promise all of you that I will get you what you need, just please allow me to have a little time to make it work. ;)

You are all the best!

Bort: Feel free to chill out on my album cover. Back when we discussed it, I was in a situation where having an actual album would have benefitted be greatly. Currently, cdr's + sharpie are more than sufficient. I'll get back to you when I need something, though.

Thanks!

Hey Bort, if you ever decide you're bored, I could use a cover... i have a good idea of what I want, but not sure how to go about getting the correct images w/o copyright problems.
It's for my AAD.

So, anybody that's had artwork designed for them for a CD.... for pay. What's the general going rate for this sort of work?
I don't have the faintest idea.

I'll answer this from the other perspective, if that's helpful.

Could be anything -- AT&T paid over a million dollars for their logo, and I'm sure whoever designed, say, the latest Aerosmith CD made a bundle. But for the most part, if you're going into it cold, you get what you pay for. Designers that I know or have known charge between $15-$150 an hour. $15 being kid right out of college, $150 being a very experienced professional landing a lucky gig contracting for a huge company that's more concerned with meeting a deliverable than hourly rates. Myself, I charge between $20-$65, depending on if you're a huge corporation, it's a profitable enterprise, how much free time I have, and how cool it is. Or I might do it for free, if you're a friend of mine and it would look good in my portfolio.

Most important is to look at their past work. That way you know what to expect.

Does that answer your question?

Being someone who does design on the side for people who ask, my 'professional' rate (i.e. if it was someone I didn't know, out of the blue) is £40/hour. The most I've ever charged a friend is £100 for two evening's work. My usual friend rate is two packets of cigarettes and a drink the next time I see them.

£40/hour ~= $75/hour

£100 ~= $182

How's the cost of living in London? Better or worse than NYC?

Hahaha! It's a profitable little sideline, let's put it like that. Plus being an IT type, I can sneak a little bit at work and the luddites put it down to 'doing my job' :)

Just wondering Bort if it is possible to get the shirt in a different colour. Perhaps black or blue or something of that nature. Just wondering cuz I want to order some for my family for Xmas. Just be cooler to give em, say, a black shirt or anything other than white. Wondering if it's something you can change on your end. Want to order in the next day or two.

Sorry, they don't do colored shirts. The process that they use to create the shirts is a kind of iron-on method so they only do white shirts.

Plus I'm not actually sure how those designs would look on black... I could always create a version for you that if you wanted to get them printed somewhere you could, but that design as is would cost a lot to print. But I could try to convert it down to a 2 color design, front only, that would be much cheaper to print. Honestly, it might just be more trouble than it is worth for both of us.
