Stone Palace

Her father was a builder
He set out to build her a home
Cause it's a dangerous place for a little girl out there all alone
He knew a house of straw or a house of sticks would be too easily blown
So he gathered the assets of his kingdom and he build his princess a palace out of stone

He made himself a promise
To satisfy her least desire
He gathered up the finest things across his vast empire
He would give her anything his massive wealth could buy
He waited on her hand and foot and kept her underneath his watchful eye


She's living in a stone palace
Sipping nectar from a gold chalice
Everybody at her beck and call
Though the walls may be grey and cold
Safe in her remote stronghold
She doesn't have to face the world at all


One day there came a suitor
To seek the young girl's hand
Legends of her beauty had spread across the land
But though he tried to forge the moat and scale the palace wall
The obstacles that blocked his way ultimately led to his downfall


Deep inside her stone palace
Still waiting patiently for her first kiss
She needs more than her daddy can provide
Locked in her secure fortress
Dealing with her lonliness
The bars that keep the dangers out also keep her trapped inside


She was raised to have it all behind these walls she lives in
But somehow when she wasn’t looking the palace turned into a prison


There’s a light on in the stone palace
With the princess all alone now it’s
A natural outcome of her father’s plan
And the drawbridge never comes down
Even when her father comes around
And no-one knows if it even can
