Well. I actually have a recordable setup now... but I dont' know which tune I'm doing yet or how to play it!
Am I worried?
Not really.
Will I get it done on time?
Well, I got no plans for Friday, Sat, or Sunday.
I measured the DB of my drums in the studio, it's at 91-95.
Outside the door, 80.
In the house, 63.
So, I'm gonna assume a neighbour, at their window, is gonna be hit with about 63 db of drums... or less. Not good enough for late night recording, but acceptable for before 8 pm I figure. I stacked up all our empty moving boxes, old mattresses, and my pa gear around the drums! Seems to cut it down a tad. Now, just gotta learn the tune.

Recorded the drums yesterday, at the world's coolest practice space, which apparently also caters to the rock and roll baseballing set. I was chatting with one of the owners and he said things like "oh, yeah, that's Bronson Arroyo's band playing in the room next to you" and "Theo Epstein left his scarf here the other day, hope he comes back to pick it up." Pretty wacky. I haven't listened to the tracks yet but there is a nonzero chance that they will include unintentional samples of World Series champions!

Apologies in advance to my gift receiver.
I had a computer meltdown on the weekend - with my GoM 90% complete - now it may be lost.
Never fear - I won't leave an emply stocking tomorrow - I've knocked up a quick replacement - but it's very no-frills.
Hopefully - If my computer gets fixed and the hard drive is OK - I may be able deliver my original GoM in a week or so.

Advance apologies to my gift receiver too. I'll get it done, just maybe not by tomorrow a.m.

Advance apooligies to everyone. I'm working on mine right now, and I'm getting it done... supposedly.
At least I can play all the parts now! People keep either phoning or dropping by... god damn it leave me alone! hahah.
The best part was, I didn't know ANY of the tunes offered to me, but I'm starting to dig the one I'm working on ...
kay. Back to the grind core.

hahahah! We are so funny...
the cool thing is, everyone IS working on it!
Man, I haven't really drummed with any intensity for a few months! My arms feel like they are gonna drop off...so I'm takin a break to do some reading... but this tune is fun... but it's got this crazy 11 bar part that's screwing with my mind a bit... still, fun fun fun to finally hear some real drums in the new pad.
I decided to annoy my neighbours for a while.. I just can't afford to soundproof...but hell, it's on;y 3:30 ... can you tell I've was living in it up all rural like for 12 years before now!! I don't have any concept of what's acceptable...so I guess I' m about to find out!

Rachael and I will probably be recording some one-take guitar and vocal jobbies some time tomorrow. It's no excuse, but we have neighbors living below us that bang on our floorboards when I am even just playing acoustic guitar, much LESS singing.
It has really chopped up my recording time significantly, but again, it's no excuse. We should have been done by now.
The good news for us, is that we weren't the only ones having trouble with these particular neighbors. They have until the end of the month to move, as they are being evicted as a result of multiple complaints from multiple neighbors.
So: To our giftees, fear not: We will probably each cover TWO selections from your lists when the grumpy neighbors have moved, and you will have rough acoustic/vocal versions on time, probably.
ROCK!
