Due to this and other comments, as well as my own difficulty in listening to our own effort, I have backed off somewhat (not totally, don't worry) on the vocal effects and brought out Mad Dog's "Are you with me so far?" line a little. That's the downside of these self-hosted side fights. You are never done. However, I believe that it is now listenable. Thanks for the help.

Maybe they just don’t blend very well from a strumming point of view. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not as bad as I’m making it sound, but I’m trying to be critical to help you out. I guess I wish it was more supportive and not as out in front. Now let’s talk about that bland vocal. Sure it’s on key, but where’s the passion? Where’s the emotion? This is a song about cheating on someone. That’s a pretty emotional thing, so that needs to be conveyed through the vocals. All in all, I like this but find it wanting something more.
Actually Dan-O as I explained before 'Lyin eyes' was my optional additional contribution recorded in 24 hours as a last minute add on. The guitar parts are part DI/mic'd but I suspect what is grating is that there is both 12 string and 6 string and the rythm on each is slightly different. Sometimes it gels nicely and sometimes it grates. Just a way to get a fuller sound without doing what I did in New Kid where I piled every sound I could think of in :-)

My allocated fight entry was actually 'New Kid in Town'.

My bad, I did the "Stream all" and Lyin' Eyes is what played so that's what I reviewed. I went back and listened to New Kid In Town and I'm not sure you would want me to review that.

Sorry Spud, "onslaught" was as over the top as the effects. I should have just said that originally. I never said that I found it unlistenable though. I just thought that the effects on the vocals, which didn't need to be somewhat hidden behind them, needed to be as heavy as they were. If you compare the vocals to the entries by Luke and Egg, thiers are certainly more in need of being buried than your submission.

I'm not helping am I?

I'll shut up now.

EDIT
Edited to remove some content that's now been taken to the PM level. No need to bore the the rest of you with this stuff.

No problem, I totally agree, and the version currently in the stream reflects a somewhat lighter touch. Sometimes I forget that my voice already has built-in effects, and I should back off a bit on the knobs.

Built in effects. I like that, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Your voice does have a very unique quality to it, and it doesn't need to be hidden.

What? We got beat out by a G&G act? Phooey!

Just kidding, of course. Congratulations, Jack. Love that ambient noise!

I got no votes and Luke got 3?

I have seriously got to work on figuring out what you folks like.

I'm really just bumping this so some folks will do reviews. Especially you Jack, being that you won and all.
