Awesome Niv!

You've done my fav. Numan song justice with your acoustic treatment. I've heard that song reinterpreted a few different ways, including my own half finished work on it, but never with acoustic. I dig! Thank you very much!!!!

You must have been - it sounds great. You really took an approach I wouldn't have thought of - and it works well. It's just weird hearing a song sub-titled "An Exercise is Vowels" being sung by somebody who pronounces vowels in a completely different way than I do!

Apart from this - my other favourites in the set were THC's "Walk Like an Egyptian", Wreckdom's "Peacetrain" and J$'s " Tainted Love" (actually - I've always been under the impression that J$ really was the ex-lead singer of Soft Cell - so I suppose it's not really a cover version then)

A few quick notes-
Let me first say that I have never heard of a majority of these songs/bands, so I just thought I’d shout out to my favorites. If I don’t mention you please don’t feel slighted. I think everyone did a great job.

Jim Tyrell-Dude, your tongue HAS to be sore after twisting it so. This is awesome- I am very impressed.

The Hip Cola- I usually don’t listen to the songs until I post the page, but I snuck a listen as soon as I got this cover, and I think it is incredible. What a great groove – especially dig the kazoo/beat box section- priceless

BJam- Your voice sounds great on this. Very nice

Stueym- I never heard this song before, but I like the laid back vibe you have here. Very soothing

.Pumpkin Buzzard – you guys are insane. Don’t ever change. Passion Planet was the best of the four me thinks, with Crumble as a close second.

Leaf- This Rocks. Sweet.

Plat- Incredible.

Glenn- good jorb as usual- really like Alison. Nice.

Wreckdom – My ex-wife loves Cat Stevens, which automatically means I can’t stand the hippy douchebag, so I was thrilled to hear you butcher his song and turn it into something I actually really enjoyed. Thank You- this is friggin’ great!

Albatross- I’m really not a Zappa fan, but you definitely did him justice. Nice.

J$ - I really like what you did here. Very interesting and enjoyable. Original ideas yet still true to the original – a very nice balance.

NOW to you slackers who still owe songs….
Send them in before we start naming names….

THC, I'm very happy that you enjoyed it.

Marcus, that was wild. I expected Glassjaw or UnderOATH, you went with Bjork. That was crazy. Thanks.

We are still waiting on songs from:
Phunt Your Friends (2 songs), #, RxW, Dre, Calfborg, and Blue. Good things are still ahead as this year's awesome GOM rolls on.

Nuh uh!! I just PM'd mine.

I'm gonna echo everyone else and say: There's some awesome stuff here!

Especially Tonamel (personal fav for obvious reasons) .. What a great interpretation!! Our Gord would be proud! I thought if you kept anything about this song, it'd be the guitar riff. But what you did works so well, its better without the guitar!! Wicked.

THC and Plat both outdid the original, too. Just awesome.

Welcome. As it so happens that was the only track I was familiar with. I tried doing the Glassjaw track but couldn't do much with it.

Dear Deshead,

Thanks for the great cover of FoW's Halley's Waitress. You took a good song and made it better. I really like the kick in the pants you give to the chorus while still maintaining the feel of the original. Excellent work.

Be well,
Ken

Glad you like it! I know I'm kind of a musical non-entity in these parts, but hopefully this can serve as encouragement for me to get another fight entry in before my Time Since Last Entry hits the year marker

Glenn, your Buenos Tardes has been stuck in my head for a day now. Not even The Ramones can shake it out. Nice work!

And THC, the strippers and bartenders really dig your Walk Like An Egyptian, heh.

I'm listening to everyone's songs now. Lot's of good stuff there.

Is it just me, or would you love to hear a rocking Leaf62 version of Presidents of the USA's Lump?

Wreckdom's song doesn't work in the stream for me. Nor does the gom song between No Cash Value and Arefriendsacoustic. Anyone else have that problem?

7 songs missing out of an expected 40 ain't bad. But we want perfection. Get those songs in. Please.

In the meantime, check out the lists of people who have already gotten gifts and give 'em another. It's hxaro gone wild!

I easily downloaded them. And I admit the WreckdoM cover is the one out of all of these I've listened to the most. Surprisingly uplifting.

If ever there's been a need for a #cam, its when they're actively working.

And yes, WreckdoM's Peace Train ala Captain Beefheart is so damn catchy!

Just now getting around to listening to the rest of 'em. My expectations are high, after the fabulous collection of songs from last year.
