I dunno wtf Rotten Tomatoes expects from Underworld: Evolution. I mean, please, it's frikkin' Kate Beckinsale in a vinyl suit fighting vampires and werewolves.
That's what I wanted to see, that's what I got. And I can't hate any movie where when the bad guy gets his just desserts the whole audience goes "YEAH!"
I give it a solid B, Because it was lots of fun but kinda jampacked with irrelevant detail and plot stuff that I'm sure the writers thought they had to include in order to tie up loose ends from the first movie, but which just kinda cluttered things a bit. Still, I enjoyed it.
Oh, it's waaaaay more gory than I remember the first one being. A definite R rated flick and they don't pull many punches, which I always appreciate. Kate even *almost* gets naked, and they drop the f-bomb a couple times though it's not a sweary movie really.

Yeah, it's not good by any stretch. I don't think the thing makes a lick of sense. They kept flashing back to the first movie, which I remember hazily at best. But I actually really like the effects and werewolves. Oh, and the vampires' blue contacts. I want some of those!
It totally could have been Van Helsing (shudder), but there's actually guys in werewolf costumes sometimes, and I appreciate that. Scott Speedman still has all the big screen charisma of Jimmy Fallon, but Kate was OK. And yeah, it's really gory for a non-slasher film. It has its moments, and I'll give it a light recommendation and a B-

Almost total shite, but then again, I'm not really into shlocky action/horror movies, unless they don't take themselves seriously at all like "Evil Dead". Some of the action sequences were good (the truck sequence, the final battle), but the dialog was mostly awful. You know the screenwriter has run out of ideas when he/she decides that the best thing a character can do is yell "FUCK!" The backstory was definitely too convoluted and confusing. The acting wasn't too bad, but the actors didn't really have much to do other than look pissed off or really serious. I'm not one to make these kind of comments usually, but holy crap, Kate Beckinsale in the painted-on-pants, whoa. I mean, damn. Anyway, C-. I wonder if there will be a third movie?
