Right now, and in the past few days, I have been listening a lot to these cds:
Dr. Spectacular's Power Circus - Self Titled
Dream Theater - Awake
POD - Brown
And just a question. What do you guys think of Metallica's Master of Puppets? I've heard that it's incredible, but I'd like a few other reviews before I pick it up

it is incredible. its kind of cliche to say a band sells out, but metallica certainly went more mainstream starting with the eponymous black album. mind you, there are some out and out gems on the black album and "load" offers one or two really cool things, but since... meh.jolly roger wrote:What do you guys think of Metallica's Master of Puppets? early metallica, like "master of puppets", "...and justice for all", "kill 'em all", and even "ride the lightning" is just classic metal: sprawling, techincally challenging compositions (their original bassist had some real chops) charged with overdriven guitars, wailing solos, and james hetfield's signature growl and howl.
the lead three songs of "master of puppets" - "battery", "master of puppets" and "the thing that should not be" - are perfect examples: hammering riffs, complex song structure, and unique story-telling in the lyrics.
i have to say, my favorite metallica song is probably "one" from "...and justice for all." the video's nothing to write home about, but the song.... time changes, key changes, rockin' guitars, anguish and howling in the singing. yeah. good stuff, good times...

Yeah, I'd recommend Master if Puppets. And if you like that Justice and Lightning too. My favorite is probably Justice. Especially if you like longer challenging songs, which you do

See? You went and hurt Leaf's feelings—on Valentine's Day, no less. It's OK, little buddy. I knew it was you who touted nomeansno.

I'm listening to the soundtrack from Half-Life 2 which is just a freaking fantastic album. Man, this music rocks.
Somebody posted a utility that would rip the mp3s from the game files, which is what I did, and I put them on cd.
mmmmm

Jay-Z might rap about predictable subject matter, but there's nothing predictable about his rhymes. He's a goddamned master.

I'm sure he is, and I only heard three tracks on the way to work.. I suppose it's not actually a "currently digging" threadfare though is it? My bad.

Well, you may have mentioned the name (incorrectly... no wonder he had such a hard time P2Ping some tunes up) but I got *proactive* about it.Leaf wrote:Sven wrote:Always happy to turn someone on to nomeansno (no spaces in the name, sort of like sonofsupercar)Yeah, you're welcome.Leaf wrote:I had the "No Means No" tune "Sex is Philosophy" rockin out.
Hey Sausage Boy, you ever listen to "No Means No"? I think...not sure, but think you'd dig em.
Anyway, yeah. Here you go:

The original Half-Life soundtrack is cool too. I think three or so songs from Half-Life 1 make a return in Half-Life 2. The cool thing with the HL1 soundtrack is that is it an audio CD, so you can just stick the HL1 CD in your CD player and away you go.HeuristicsInc wrote:I'm listening to the soundtrack from Half-Life 2 which is just a freaking fantastic album.
Leaf, Sven, I didn't mean to cause a conflict. Thank you both. Love each other, and shit like that.
