Hoping to enter "Half a Stone" - but I may have to apply a bit of poetic licence to the title since I don't live in one of those backward countries that still cling to archaic units of measurement.

As in you'll write something before you saw the title? :D
As in ive created a hook for the title and im using old songs of mine.

"I got half a stone glued to the top of my cartridge
Needle hangin half outta my cartilage
So if i scratch you itch, i skip you jump
Leap frog back to the front"

Turned it into a scratch song. ^_^ (<- hardcore gangsta rapper who uses anime smileys)

I was planning on continuing my SF vacation, but I became inspired today and wrote a song for Left/Right.

If you need vocals for this, let me know. I have been known to do a pretty convincing/scary Rammstein.

I think I'm gonna sit out the 'half a stone' fight after all, Can't capture the mood I want in 'the studio' and I am for no apparent reason ideologically opposed to the return to two fights. Call it cowardice, call it the blinding light of reason, but unless I am reborn of frustration in the next couple of days, that's it for me for the time being.

Are you mad?
You're British for gawd's sake. We didn't garner a huge empire by wussing out of fights because we couldn't 'capture the mood'.
Get a grip man. You are the Cashpoint.

so i *was* going to post something here about how if the prewritten rule was waived for both fights (rather than just half a stone), this song
http://www.somesongs.com/song_info.php?select=2952
would be perfect to submit for left/right. and then i listened to it and DAMN YOU ROYMOND you changed the song and took out the marching/chanting part so my left/right joke no longer makes sense!! :P

Yes, look to your fine cricket captains for inspiration. Gatting, Atherton, Hussein etc. etc. - they never 'caught the mood', they rarely caught a cricket ball - but they did continue, match after match, to go out there and lose for England!

I think you'll find that we (England Oh England, home of the brave) have the ashes at this point in time, having trounced your antipodean arses by some 225 runs.
Anyway this is about songs not cricket, and I for one would be delighted to hear j$ live version of 'Half a stone'... It did win him SFUK live.

yeah that seems like a no-brainer. A likely win with no extra work on his part. And I want to hear it too.

Apologies to everyone for cluttering the thread with non-songfight material - but this scurrilous slander must be quashed else an international incident may occur.
England won the 5th test in Sydney - Aust. won the series 4-1. Ashes OURS. :D

I shall venture the possibility when Mr Ca$hpoint visits me later today.

Erm ... well, I saw the DVD footage today and I was a lot better than I gave myself credit for (although the making love to the keyboard / tamborine on ass action during the jam would be better 'accidentally' wiped from all extant copies) ...

i am going to have a go at recording it 'live' in a minute. I would enter the live version but ther's a huge factual error in the chorus lyric which I need to correct. Most likely I'll be in.

However be sure to check out my bass and backing vocals on the Masters of Grip version. Laid them down today at Culverden Studios, and pleased with them I am.
