Out of curiousity, what religion(s) did you find, Luke?

Episcopalianism, then punk rock (and with that a weird hybrid of an obsession with Christ as a literary figure but a rejection of worshipping him).

Here's how I saw it: The songs on my list are, or are associated with, notable landmarks on my life's path. Except not as fruity New Agey as all that.

It's open to interpretation, mine was a mix of symbolizing parts of my life and a demonstration of my expanding taste in music.

I was a bit unsure to begin with, I did a top20 songs ever mix but then I thought I'd better put in some which weren't necessarily my favourites but that had some story or memory behind it. It's a list which could go on forever couldn't it, to think of all the things that got left out.

and I'm so glad that people still like that eels song

[edit] i reserve the right to change my mind at a moment's notice... [/edit]

wow, lots of obscure (to me) stuff above. i feel so mainstream...

in no particular order:

1. "mrs. robinson" - simon and garfunkel
2. "jump" - van halen
3. "parents just don't understand" - d.j. jazzy jeff and the fresh prince
4. "one" - metallica
5. "plush" - stone temple pilots
6. "hurt" - nine inch nails
7. "hey jupiter" - tori amos
8. "untouchable face" - ani difranco
9. "lithium" - nirvana
10. "paradise city" - guns n' roses
11. "american idiot" - green day
12. "big yellow taxi" - joni mitchell
13. "barbara ellen" - traditional
14. "famous blue raincoat" - leonard cohen
15. "losing my religion" - r.e.m.
16. "closer to fine" - indigo girls
17. [edit]"amazing grace" - traditional
18. "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" - mary poppins
19. [edit]"love shack" - the b-52's
20. "mmm mmm mmm mmm" - crash test dummies
21. "strange fruit" - billie holiday

how many contradictions can you spot?

bonus question: how heavily will i get stoned for citing so many hit singles?
