Since my jack was busted and I had to replace it anyway, I figured I'd go ahead and install a new DiMarzio PAF Pro, too (my old guitar, that got stolen, had 'em and I loved the way it sounded)... I've never installed a pickup before but figured, what the hell... it's a cheap axe and maybe I'll learn somethin. Well, I hooked everything up according to the directions and it works and all, but there's some crazy feedback that happens constantly unless I have my hand on the metal jacket of the cable that is plugged into the new input jack I installed (which seems like a grounding issue?).... I bought a new pot and put that in (cause there was a lot of extraneous solder on the old one and i thought it might be a short or something) but same thing happens... any ideas?
oh, the first time I hooked it up (with the old pot) i kept the tone knob/series-parallel switch in the chain (which worked) and the second time (with the new pot) i bypassed it so it's just volume... and both times the feedback thing happens...
figured I post here before I had someone else fix it... cause it's cheaper
