MP3 Players

Post by Tex Beaumont »

So what's a good MP3 player to buy?

I want a simple one. It doesn't have to hold my whole record collection. I'm not into walking around the streets or sitting on trains with headphones on looking like a dick. I'm just thinking it might be convenient to put a weeks Songfight on something and listen to it while I walk the dogs. At the moment I burn the songs to CD - but that's a hassle

I thought iPod shuffle would be the thing - but it doesn't seem to have a voice recorder. I want voice recorder. I have an old cassette note taker that I use a lot, both as a work tool, and to record myself when I play at the pub. It would be cool to replace that with a MP3 note taker (it will make it tax deductable too)

Any suggestions?
(it has to be Mac compatable - I don't know if they all are)

Poor grammar makes you look like a dick (and I walk my dogs at night)

I know this is not at all your solution, but I will mention it for posterity: I have a PSP + 1gb memory stick, and it's nice for short-ish distances. Plus you can watch anime whenever you get there. PSP as a game system may suck, but it's fun as a media player. (And emulator.)

If you are looking for convenience over capacity, theseare pretty nice, too.

Smileys used to mean "I'm just joking". Ephedream is steadily lowering the value of the smiley.

I just recently went through the same thing. I investigated several models and ended up buying a Creative Muvo TX FM 512MB. It has a voice recorder and FM radio in addition to the MP3 player.

Its got plenty enough memory for my needs and it was not too expensive.
$79.99 US.

Me too. I spent about twice what Steve did but got 8 times the memory (4G). SanDisk Sansa M260. Voice recorder and FM.

I find starting a religion and having a devout choir of followers to sing hymns in your name is a bit of a step up from that. I know this from personal experience.

iRivers are nice. When I was thinking about getting an MP3 player, I decided iRiver over iPod, thanks to audio quality. I did end up going for the PSP, but I'd still choose iRiver over iPod now.
