so, let's recap:

- random person spouting hyperbolic invective (trolling; foucauldian monstrous discourse)
- other people responding to said invective (whack-a-trolling; normalized discourse responds to monstrosity)
- bizarre sort of exchange ensues, with various positions at odds with others (multi-part discussion; evolving discourse)
- heated discussion makes a sharp left turn at albuquerque (thread-jack; monstruous discourse is subsumed into normalized discourse, creating a hybrid one)

i love the internet. it's just beautiful to watch how stuff flows.

I can't remember the name of the band, but we had a pirate band in Portland that would actually hijack other people's shows. They'd interupt the performance, steal the stage, and start singing sea shanties. The regularly scheduled band would usually submit without much of a fight. ("What the @!@#? Who are these people?" Confusion ensured an easy victory.) I never got a chance to see 'em, but I've always thought that the idea was 100% pure genius!

That's why whebn I come back it's just the same old bunch.

Some of you have been here 4 or 5 years.

I was happy to run you out of Dumbrella.

So I want to see how good you are at banning people.
I wasn't consulted in any banning and I definitely don't agree that this person typing herein appears ban-worthy. This whole thread is confusion.. people don't like LEF submissions so he was banned?! WTF?

What is the real discussion please? What is this subversive manifesto?
Whatever - banning is a serious statement, but ex-LEF is correct - it's not practical to ban gripe.

Could this person be allowed to interact - I liked the clever dystopic absolute that hyper-compression of 8bit samples conveys so well.

LEF was not banned because of his submissions. In fact he was not banned at all. He was reprimanded by r stevens over on the dumbrella board at my request as moderator of the SongFight! forums for an offensive sexual comment he posted regarding another songfighter's underage daughter on 01/04/2004. While you may not have been personally consulted, I received many emails, PMs and phone calls to ban him, and none in his defense, except possibly from gripe here.

He is absolutely being allowed to interact, and I believe that the discussion has become somewhat more rational. Please see (especially) the last few pages of http://www.songfight.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2387
