Rehearsals

Post by jack »

I'm willing to let people rehearse at my house, which is about a 5 minute drive to the venue. I'd need to get a drum kit setup beforehand but maybe Ken or Blue can bring something earlier to set up.

anyone interested in rehearsing at my house before the show, let me know by posting here so i can create some sort of schedule.

I am arriving on Wednesday night for the explicit purpose of rehearsing with SOMEONE. I have yet to actually pull together a band, but that will come next. Of course, I am always available for a little bass, electric horn, or even keys.

I'm definitely interested in practicing in your space Jack. I'll be in CA starting that Tuesday, but I don't know about my collaborators yet.

ok, i just negotiated getting off the 18th from work. what does this mean? well, for starters, it means we can have rehearsals/practices friday morning and afternoon at my house for starters, as well as thursday night if anyone wants to come over.

i still need to secure a drumkit for practice purposes but otherwise, i've got other instruments covered.

I will be arriving in Santa Cruz sometime Thursday afternoon, and will plan to meet everybody at Jack's at some preagreed time, and also be available from, like 10 am onwards on Friday.

Obviously, I'd like to get in a little practice time with as much of my band (Ken, Fluffy, Spud, Jack and another vocalist TBD) on Friday as possible, and if I can help anybody else out by sitting in on rehearsals on guitar, bass, whatever, I will be glad to do that, too - just bring extra copies of your charts!

You've probably already asked about this, but, obviously, if there was any way we could get into the venue early on Friday / Saturday, practicing there will probably be the most valuable, even if they don't want us messing with the house sound system...

Jack, you should probably decide when and where everybody should meet up and PM us with the info... since there are so many different combinations of players, I imagine the most useful thing will be to have everybody in one place together and then just rehearse whatever groups can be assembled at the time...

Rabid, Albatross, & Freudian Slip will be arriving in Santa Cruz around 1pm on Friday, depending on the usual factors (traffic, motel check-in, food poisoning, force majeure, insurrection, landslides, apocalypse, etc. I think that covers the main obstacles between Fresno and Santa Cruz.)

We(stueym, mum, and me) should be in Santa Cruz by noonish on Friday, if not earlier in the morning. I've PMed by cell phone number to those I'm singing/playing with, so they can call me and yell at me to come rehearse. But when not being yelled at I'll probably just be hanging about with other songfighters, possibly wherever they're practicing. If for some reason you want to yell at me and come rehearse with you, I can PM you my cell phone number too.
Songfighter since back in the day.

I'm planning to get into SC Thursday night and will be available to practice Friday and Saturday. I'm thinking about bringing my electronic kit for practice, but not an acoustic drum kit for the show.

I will be available all day Friday - either at Jacks, or wandering the street aimlessly. I should have a phone number by then that I can be reached on.

Does the beach actually have surf? I would like to get wet - unless brass monkeys advise me otherwise.

Honestly, I've never seen the appeal of surfing. Prancing about on a piece of plastic and trying not to swallow gallons of salt water is not my idea of fun. (But I'm sure if I share these sentiments when in Santa Cruz I'll get attacked, so I'll be quiet :P)

No - surfing has never been popular with the British - all that water y'know - it's dangerously similar to taking a bath (....ducks  )

Just for that I am not going to bathe until I meet you so as not to ruin your stereotypical view....as those who met me in Boston know my teeth (lack thereof) qualify me as a testament to NHS Dentistry!

We should also find a nice place for Stueym to get a big chunk o' haggis so he doesn't get homesick.

All sorted matey http://www.caledoniankitchen.com/catalog/ And very nice it is too. From Texas, USDA approved and 80% sirloin. I can heartily reccomend these folks

and if you really want me to not feel homesick...Irn-Bru...the preferred chilled beverage of millions of hungover scotsmen.....awesome stuff!!!
