Well, Sven, your favorite hockey team made what is probably the absolute worst blunder I've ever seen in hockey last night. Sheesh, that was awful. And too bad also since I'd hate to see Carolina win.

Almost the worst blunder, yeah. Doesn't beat Steve Smith's goal in his own net against Calgary back in 1986.
Thankfully, last night wasn't a series-deciding game. (*phew*)
Man, that sucked. 31 seconds till overtime. Gahhhd.
Okay, the Oilers won game 5. The series is now Carolina 3, Edmonton 2. Next game is in Edmonton, which is usually an advantage. Edmonton faces elimination, that equals desperation hockey. Edmonton has a true hockey culture, and the fanbase is going freakin nuts right now. They definitely have the support of the crowds.
Carolina? Well, considering not a single player on the team is actually from Carolina, let's refer to them as [corporate entity] from now on, or CE for short. Carolinians don't know jack shit about hockey. They know about guns and pickup trucks and hanging black people. The way they've filled the arena for the past few games is by advertising it as a monster truck rally... ON ICE. And they fell for it. Let's call that no crowd support (or clueless, curiousity crowd support). They are not facing elimination in Saturday's game, although they know that a loss in Edmonton would mean a sudden-death game 7. They want to win game 6 as much as Edmonton does, but it's not the end of the world if they don't.
I thought when Oilers' goaltender Dwayne Roloson got injured, they were done. I was very sad and angry about that. However, after a false start with Ty Conklin, Jussi Markkanen stepped up to the net, and IMO has saved the team. He has played like a first string goalie in the last 3 games, and this series seems to be all about the goaltending. Carolina's Cam Ward has unfortunately also been standing on his head in net, but he is not invincible, as 2 Edmonton wins in the series has proven.
Dunno about your characterization of Carolinans, now, but yer player there made a really great play to steal the puck and win the game the other night - glad i was watching it.

Yeah, Pisani is amazing. Trivia Fact: That goal was the first of its kind in NHL history; never before has a short-handed goal been scored in overtime in the Stanley cup finals. So, yay, Pisani.
Also, yeah, I guess my evaluation of Carolinians was pretty harsh. *cough*but true*cough*
[edit] YEAAHHHHAA!!! 3-0 Oilers in the 3rd. Hope and pray, hope and pray...
[edit2] FOUR FREAKIN NOTHING!! THIS ROCKS SO HARD
We feel for you, man. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Just kidding. I would have probably cheered for Edmonton, but I know too many people that would rub it in my face for the rest of my life.
It was a great game to end the season, though... saw most of it. I thought your team played well but the Car players were really aggressive on Edm entering their zone, didn't let you set up well. Anyway, nice series...

Newcastle being knocked out of the semi-finals is probably the greatest personal tragedy I or anybody else has suffered since Gallipoli. Why, oh why is the world so unkind?
