damn, you're right about locke and the wheelchair. but he just knows too much! something is not right with him.

did you see the teaser? it looks as though jack, the hottie, and the iraqi confront him and there is some sort of confrontation between the iraqi and bradpittguy. i know he shot the flare but who conked the iraqi in the head? he was the only one in close enough proximity

and jack has to be gay to not wanna jump that hottie's bones. she has all but climbed into bed naked next to him and he seems not so much oblivious but like he is trying to not send any wrong signals to her. it would certainly be an interesting (and bold) move to make his character gay.

Nah, he was far away. They were triangulating a wide distance, remember? It's gotta be the suited guy that conked him. Or the pregnant chick. We haven't seen her in a while...

Man, that'd be great. You're right, it would totally make sense. And it'd be a nice contrast to the Will and Grace stereotype-mongers. Never happen though -- they don't have the balls. Besides, they're pulling the classic "make him look like a tortured soul and the women will want him so bad" move.

You know, polar bears in the jungle I can believe. Giant dinosaurs, no problem. But a straight guy not wanting to jump her bones -- just too far-fetched.

the jack is gay idea might not be that far fetched. one thing i'm trying to figure out is what is the common thread between all the characters and it seems to be something along the lines of having to make some sort of life changing/altering decision. the asian woman in the airport, the heroin junkie wanting to do a reunion tour and finding his brother, who got him hooked on junk and is now clean, doesn't want to, and the thing with jack seems to revolve around his father. my stupid guess would be jack's father was a military guy who would never approve of him being gay and he died before he could tell him the truth. or maybe he told him the truth and they had a falling out right before he died. the little kid and his dad, and his mom dying, the hottie having to leave behind her life in austrailia, etc.

all this is just stupid speculation mind you because i'm bored.

Remember, that he's "seen into the heart of the island, and it's beautiful" or some jazz like that. Maybe he just knows the 'secret'.

And, damn, if Jack's gay then... :( Although, there's always Charlie!Hobbit... Yum yum.

I don't think the pregnant chick could bash someone over the head. Unless it's a fake baby. Or it's an Alien baby, and it'll burst out her stomach and kill off all the characters.

It's funny you should say that since the actress who plays Claire, the preganant girl, also was on the show Roswell. She got pregnant on that show too but there was no aliens bursting out of her stomach (got kinda close though). But she did kill one of the main characters :)

That PA comic is so right - I was watching the pilot for Lost and I kept saying to myself "God damn I hope this doesn't turn out to be some made for TV movie called "Robot Alien Dinosaur Island" or something!"

so i watched the repeat last night of wednesday's show specifically to try to figure out who conked the iraqi guy over the head. and i can't still haven't got a clue. it couldn't have been the korean guy as he was at the cave with the others. so was the guy in the suit. it couldn't have been locke as he was gutting the boar he killed. it might just be someone we haven't seen yet. maybe it's the french woman on the distress call. but this show leaves me clueless.

and i can't help think about apocalypse now each time they show locke in the jungle. i wonder if the locke/col. kurtz character similarities are intentional, maybe some sort of foreshadowing.

I'm thinking French-woman.

And going back to odd things about the island...

Look at the engine just before it blows up. Freaky black thing flying about over it? How peculiar. (Although it could just be shrapnel. Which would be boring :()

I'm thinking Locke knocked out Sayd. If there's anyone who doesn't wanna get off the island, it's the guy who's suddenly walking and living out his dream of being the great hunter. Or maybe he got knocked out by Jack's Father. Or it's the Black woman's husband. She said he isn't dead.... Damn show with all these red herrings.

I actually think it was done by someone new. The show has to have a lot of characters, the producers have said there will be a large death count. It'll probably be mysterious person with info on the island. Gives little bits of cryptic info before dying....

bjam...good call on that thing that hits the plane! wtf is that? i seriously doubt that's shrapnel. it looks more ufo to me.

jack's dad. now that would be a trip if he was the one. but his appearance would really blow the shit out of the water, and i really think they (jj abrams and co.) are going to play this out for awhile.

Actually, Jack's dad would be really trippy. Think, not only the Doctor is seeing these "hallucinations". The 'dead' are living among them. Dude, zombies!

UFO? So the island is alien-run? Whoa. It looked more like a Dementor from Harry Potter to me. Very odd, nonetheless.

last episode featured sawyer's flashback (the southern, brad pittlike guy). sayid and jack confront him over the inhalers. sayid tries some torture shit. don't work. the hottie makes out with him. don't work. sayid flips out (he thinks sawyer conked him on the head), he and sawyer scrap, and sawyer gets stabbed by sayid. sayid heads off to wander the island alone.

the korean woman makes some eucalyptis balm for the asthma girl. i think she and the black guy are gonna hook up soon.

next episode is sayid's flashback. they keep teasing that we'll see someone new on the island (like the french woman on the distress call), but as this show goes, you can't believe what you see.

OK. I've caught up, only to find there's a two week gap 'til the next episode. That is so not fair.
I'm thinking it's an island were some dreadful government biological experiment took place, though that's probably far too mundane an explanation.
How about a wicked version of the Truman Show... Or they are held in an alien facility wired to a matrix like machine... Or...
Roll on episode 10!

2 week gap = sucks

i think it's because it's the day before thanksgiving (the king of all travel days) and they didn't want to waste an episode.

watch it turn out that the whole episode was some figment of sayid's mind. maybe the french woman never existed. it was all some hallucinogenic trip.

the golf thing seemed kind of dumb.

Man, I love TwP. Because the reviewers all really love TV, and they are all so dedicated to their shows, even if they don't looo0000ooove them anymore. Like when you watch a show just because you're too invested in it to NOT watch anymore. The recaps are long, but GOOOD, in that they give you all the details that you want if you are madly in love with a show, like who smirked at who, or if someone's hair looks dumb, or if someone's new love interest is just not at all appealing, like all the retarded little details.

Ummm, I saw my first episode of Lost last week, and it was way better than I thought it was going to be.

Now are we in the Lost thread or the Star Wars thread? It's fast becoming an information technology blur round here ....
