Bjam wrote:Sweet! Any chance at some point of t-shirts with this fabulous design on?
(Specifically, it'd be cool if it could be like the Boston shirt, with the design on the front, and names on the back, but that could mean more work in which case, don't bother, and I guess the Boston shirt is more logoy than art design on the front, then the arty/namey bit is on the back, but I don't know, whatever works for you guys, *heart* )
A poster is not a shirt. I will design a shirt.
If we want names on the back, we have to decide: artists or bands? i.e. Spud vs. Octothorpe. Rabid Garfunkel vs. Primitive Screwhrads, etc.
Which fits the shirt better:
prayformojo
or
prayformojo and his Good Times Fun Band
both would be appropriate. I'll let the fans decide.

well, we finally got listed on the events calendar, although the text they used wasn't what i sent them, and it looks like they just pulled something from the webpage. i'm going to send them some new text and see if they'll update it.
WELL, before the end of the night I will have purchased plane tickets. The sad truth is that it looks like I'm going to miss Friday night's events. I start a new job on Monday and the best they can swing is a half day on that Friday. So, I'll catch a plane after work and arrive sometime that night. Still looking into all options. I'm not posting because I'm narcissistic or whatever, but just a heads up in case anyone had any suggestions. I'm going to look over other threads under this umbrella to really get my ass together and see how other people are handling the jump from landing city to destination city.

Is there a pool table? And is the bar closing time in California still 2am?
Must make sure one's vices are taken care of, heh.
Oh, and when do we start getting together schedules for practice times at fair Casa de Jack by the sea?

pool table question....i think so but unconfirmed. seems like a local watering hole sort of dive.
yes on the 2am bar closing time.
i will post soon what my schedule will be on thursday and friday, depends on my work, but certainly thursday evening is available. same with saturday day. i still need to get a drum kit though. i do have some congas.
Curious......
Since this is a dry event, it is bound to be cliquey.
Will there be anonymous/spectator seating? ( in a dark lurkish
corner of the venue)? Or is it fighters at tables making awkward
small talk with the fans?
What's the price of admission?

It is kinda cliquey (from my experience). But who cares? Such is life. (People haven't seen friends in a year, they're gonna wanna catch up and it may seem 'cliquey' but it probably isn't)
Speak to people and you'll find out that most Songfighters don't have egos and attitudes, and most of them are really nice and 'normal' and will talk to you. Or try and divide and conquer. Before you go, think of three songfighters you'd like to meet and tell them that their music is good, then make it your goal at Santa Cruz to speak to them and tell them that.
Also, now you can introduce yourself as 'the person that made that post' and people will go, "Oh, Hi!"
SOLVED! (Except for the price thing, Jack can answer with that)

That's a pretty good assessment. I have made several life long friends from Songfight (not to mention of my closest friends is the guy who got me involved in songfight), and unfortunately the only opportunity I have to see most of them is at the live shows. So yeah, people tend to gravitate towards their friends that they haven't seen in a long time. But in all honesty, if it weren't for meeting and hanging out at those Songfight live events, I would never have been able to call some of these folks life long friends. There seems to be a pretty good mix of newer and old fighters at this show, so it'll be a good opportunity for everyone.
My list last year included Starfinger, Raised By Wolves, and perhaps Bjam. I'm don't really remember. Awesome people I met that I didn't realize I would be glad to meet: Boltoph, Tonetripper, Stuey, and just about everyone else. I really have yet to meet any songfighters that weren't nicer and more genuine in person than you would expect them to be.
I think that SFLive has a very summer camp vibe to it. It is a very intense connection for a few days, and then you realize you have to go back to your regular life. and are sorry to have to go.
See you there!

Well, assuming that it will be clique-y at SFL, my table should have lots of empty chairs. C'mon over and say hi.
Pretty much anybody there, if you walk up to them and say, "hey, I really liked [song they did], how did you come up with that?" you'll make an immediate friend for life Many of us will do almost anything for a little validation

You can come for the whole week if you want. Some of us are coming for more than just the two days.
I think I spent a whole week in Austin, and I know I spent a whole week in Seattle (when I was here for SFLive I mean, obviously I've spent somewhat more than a whole week here now).
