HOWTO: Get your music on the iTunes Music Store
It used to be that the easiest/cheapest way to get your music on iTMS was via CDBaby, which cost quite a bit (after dealing with all the costs of making a physical CD and getting it warehoused by CDBaby, you also had to pay a bit for a UPC code, digitization, and then after all that CDBaby still keeps 10% of what they're paid out by Apple), but a friend of a friend of mine just launched a new service called TuneCore which is probably a better deal for many musicians - a one-time fee of 99 cents per song, and then an annual fee of $7.98 per album.
Obviously there are many cases where the CDBaby pricing works out better (working out the equilibrium point shouldn't be too difficult) but if you were interested in digital sales and don't care about physical sales, TuneCore would probably be a better option.

The Parker Street Cinema CD is digitally distributed by IODA. They got us in a bunch of different places. I don't know much about it though.

I've put an extremely rough analysis on my site. Brief conclusion: CDBaby is better, at least with what (little) information I have.

This doesn't exactly fit in this thread but it's close (on itunes)....
keithandthegirl.com is a popular rauncy comedy podcast.
They're asking for people to send in MP3s that they can play at the end
of the show. They're unlikely to get stuff from podsafe because of a war
with Adam Curry.
Keiths taste seems to be last century style rock, "The Girl" is a singer in some kinda a reggae dub band. Send it to info@keithandthegirl.com.
Just thought I mention it. carry on..........

No, I didn't mean to imply that. For all I know the KATG vs Podshowfluffy wrote:How can podsafe deny them the use of other stuff? I thought the whole point to it was that it was CC-licensed.
wars are a promotional gimmick.
All I'm saying is they've asked for MP3s from indies - and they probably
aren't surfing podsafe for cool tunes. I've made the
additional assumption that if you include a link to podsafe music in
your submission you might loose points with KATG.
I have no insight into KATG. I'm just a subscriber (and a little
ashamed of it)

This question may be a stretch as far as resurrecting an old thread, but it sort of applies, and it's mostly just a question out of curiosity. I use Napster-To-Go and am wondering why some tracks are free with subscription and some are buy only. Particulary I find this curious in the case where a whole album might be free w/ subscription but one or two tracks might be buy only. I assume this is something to do w/ the licensing of those particular songs, but was wondering if anyone knew anything about this?
